    • Similar story here! Went from a 420a Talon to a 95 tsi awd. She was $1500 and required every body panel i could donate from the first car (due to rust). Due to the nostalgia i ended up buying a rust free 95 Eclipse GST but the FWD just wasnt the same.. So im in the process of AWD swapping it right now using a donor car.

  • Alex I'm sure you already know, but when you have one hard to reach bolt like that turbo bolt, break the others free and then re-tighten them before trying to break that last bolt loose. If you leave the others at all loose then there is more pressure on the underside of that bolt head.

    @KerchumA222@KerchumA2224 ай бұрын

Took the corner at a four way stop running 40mph and it just took it perfectly. Hit the highway and it was bouncing off the top speed limiter at 142mph. The local town cop finally got on to the highway and about a half mile in, he shut off his lights and turned around. Gave up. I came back to town about an hour later.

  • You need a GM 3" MAF and maf converter to run it after the BOV and vent to atmosphere. Also ditch that pos old ass Tial BOV and get you an HKS SSQ which are badass!

    • Why would he use old tech like a GM maf when he is using speed density?

      @Rumsey.30HATE@Rumsey.30HATE4 ай бұрын
    • @@Rumsey.30HATE Because he is not using speed density right now, nor can he. Using speed density requires a standalone ECU or DSM link which he is not using that I have seen. All that is also way more money and headache then you need when a simple reliable 3" GM maf with converter works perfectly simply and cheaply.

  • My Mom had a 1993 Plymouth Laser (same as the Eclipse) when I was growing up. I always loved that car but they sold it when I was 15. The 2nd gens used to be everywhere and now you never see them. They were always cool cars and the reliability was fine as long as you didn't beat on it too hard. It's nice to see one getting restored.

  • Looks like a fantastic improvement, Alex! I didn't have an Eclipse, but rather an '05 Volvo S60R AWD turbo 5 cyl. I wanted a bigger turbo, but unlike the Eclipse it was positioned in the back of the engine bay near the firewall and options were limited! Still had fun with other upgrades and it was a great daily driver for many years!

  • What a nostalgic video ... I daily drove a '96 GST from '02 to '08. Bone stock stock when I got it. Installed intake, cast header, Walbro 255 + relay, and a manual boost controller. Turbine wheel broke off the stock turbo (weird failure ... lots of rattling, no smoke and no power) so I had it rebuilt with bigger wheels. Never got really attached to it though since I barely fit at 6'1", it was FWD only (traction and wheel hop limited), and it was an automatic (probably the worst automatic I've ever put up with).

  • The first car I ever drove and learned how to and not to drive a manual was a fully built 1G Talon TSI (Same thing) back in the early 2000's. It was one of, if not the fastest DSMs in the Pittsburgh area at that time period. It had this sound unlike anything you probably ever heard before. I tried getting my old GSX to sound like it, but just couldn't. It had a 4 inch, yes 4, turbo back with an Arospeed muffler and a log manifold. The sound was really something else. Then it felt like you were in a fighter jet with the G forces putting you in the seat. The same with handling. It stuck to the road like it was on rails. Of course that was then. Now the times changed, but like you mentioned those were the days to experience with the raw excitement without digital everything and having one really brings those back. Hope to see more 4 cylinder content. Even if they all aren't speed demons, they are still fun.
