If you're not going to keep the V make it "LSC"
I swear LSC posts are the highlight of my week. This has to be one of my favorite channels on KZhead. Thanks for the amazing content Alex.

Alex's channel has that weekend wrenching automotive nostalgia that brings me back to my younger days when my dad and I would watch automotive wrenching shows on the weekends together. RIP dad!

DSM, Fast, Reliable in the same intro. I about lost my breakfast on that one! DSM=Daily Service Maintenance. This is chock full of memberberries! I had a 1995 Talon TSi AWD back in 2006ish making around 440hp to the tire. Haltech standalone (using DOS!), 25 lbs on a PTE SCM-61, 880cc injectors, 6 bolt swap with 90 big rods, JE pistons .040 over bore, Cyclone intake, comp 272 cams. Tokiko 5 way adjustables, Baer big brake kit riding on some Volk GTC's. Crank walk, boost leaks, popped couplers, fried piston rings, cracked manifolds, always something, but she was my first love. John Shepherd was our DSM hero! Got fed up with the nagging from my ex-wife and sold it...then got rid of her too. Should have got rid of her first.
Exactly! You can always get another women but finding another clean dsm is a needle in a haystack!
The crank walk and cracked manifold were your fault. So were the popped couplers. You gotta upgrade when pushing more boost and laying on the throttle CONSTANTLY.
You crank walked a 6 bolt block...I have questions - as that was the split collar thrust that failed on 7 bolts, not on 6 bolts.
Crank walk is caused by bad engine building. A tiny percentage of 7 bolt cars crank walk. Very, very few 6 bolts. It's really not a thing. LS engines have just as many thrust bearing issues as 4g6x engines.
@@mikescherrer4923 I’ve owned a lot of high hp 7 bolts and never was out of spec at the collar. I just have issues believing this story if it was a relatively stock 6 bolt 90 big rod bottom end never opened

Loved the DSM Talon/Eclipse AWD 2.0 Litre turbo cars from the nineties. I use to own a 90 Eagle Talon TSi AWD that was modified from stock. I changed the whole exhaust system from turbo back with a 3 inch stainless steel mandrel Buscher Racing exhaust. Boost controller, upgraded fuel pump, fuel injectors, ACT clutch, upgraded intercooler pipes, blow off valve and so forth. Car stayed stock appearance wise, except if you saw the exhaust system from the back of the car. Loved the power it made to all 4 wheels when accelerating. Surprisingly, I did get great fuel economy close to stock when driving it normally. I did get 389,000 kilometres on the original engine and turbo. Miss that car.
For the brakes, add an "E" and an "O" in the same font to the caliper keeping the original "V". Can go black or color change on them.
When working with brakes if you want to stop the fluid from leaking out, use a brake pedal depressor to hold the brake pedal down and the brake fluid will not constantly leak out. You’ll of course get some fluid initially leaking, but it’ll stop. I used to do it all the time when messing with the brake system on various types of vehicles.
I use the ghetto plastic bottle and fuel line method. But I'm definitely going to search up brake pedal depressors. I like Alex's vacuum method, though.
@@Dwigt_Rortugal I meant when swapping brake hoses, calipers or anything like that where there the brake fluid is going to constantly leak out, you can stop most of that from happening by depressing the brake pedal while working on the system. While bleeding the vacuum bleeder does work well, but I’ve found a good pressure bleeder works better.
BAAAH! I just ordered a Sunday kit 3 days ago. If I had just waited! Undercoat got sandblasted from being in the desert. My Nissan has a similar look to it being a CA car. Starting my career in CA where I am from, then moving to OH, I had to completely relearn how to take things apart. The torch is your friend here. We didn't even have a torch in the dealers back home.
That ad transition was very smooth. Love lawn care. Love wrenching on vehiculars. Love when both worlds collide! The Fast and Furious reference was hilarious. I love this channel lmao.

I have never read a more accurate comment about a car.

I've always wanted one of these. My buddy had a 12 second talon back in the day that sounded like boat at idle. He had to launch in second gear because in first gear it would just spin all four tires and he almost side stepped into a mustang he was racing from a launch. They pull so nice. I saw another guy roll onto the highway once in 2nd and it bounced on all four corners, squatted and then blasted off. Good memories of the 90s glory days of street racing.
30:00 having done a BBK similar to this. The holes in the rotors are larger than the studs so there is a gap & play, meaning the rotor will slam into the stud, then start braking. I'd suggest finding a small enough diameter metal tube that fits over the new stud & between the rotor then cutting them to fit the gap. For the kit I did 1320 Performance actually sold a "limited" run of stainless-steel inserts.
I've been super excited for this update! Especially considering Japanese cars aren't generally in his wheel house! And my two favorite cars as a teen were the Trans Am WS6 and Eclipse GSX.

Being a kid during the original Fast and Furious, the Eclipse was always one of my favorite cars growing up. Cool to see a build on one in 2024. A very underrated car in my opinion!
i love the eclipse content and i think you should keep the V logo on the calipers it’s a cool little quirk and feature

I had a rear wheel fall off coming into Memphis tn around 2am years ago. This corresponded during a time I was having some issues with my neighbors, just saying. Anyways, I had broken studs and used the washer method to replace all the studs on the hub. Had no issues at all. I am so excited to see a new video about the Eclipse. This is one of my favorite projects you have going on.
Man, it looks freaking sick, and it's gonna look even better when painted! That wheel choice was absolutely perfect, it really sets the car off!

Absolutely loving the DSM content, I love all the content but owning a dsm and watching you work in one is a highlight for sure! Keep up the great work Alex!
Excellent. Greetings from Ghana 🇬🇭
Alex, as an engineering QA/QC person, I know from many years experience, thread failures, and tests, that ALL threads should be very clean and lightly lubricated - i.e. enough to remove dry friction from the thread surface. The torque you apply to a stud or bolt is intended to extend the stud/bolt within it's elastic limit, and apply longitudinal pressure to the mating surfaces. If the threads are dry, or even lightly contaminated with corrosion or dust etc., it will affect the accuracy of the torque you apply. Another issue with dry/dirty/corroded threads is the creation of micro-stress cracking over time. Both issues can cause either under-tightening or rupture of the thread. The reason that this is not a very frequent failure issue, is because the threads, bolts and studs are typically over-designed to account for poor use (mainly over-tightening of corroded wheel bolt/stud threads). But there are limits. Better safe than sorry.
As an Engineer you do not lube to any extent bolts or studs that are on moving parts, especially wheel studs, they can work loose.
@@glynnepritchard2526 If threads can work loose they are either not correctly torqued, or in need of a locking mechanism. I am not suggesting the use of special low-friction lubricants, just a few drops of light machine oil. Whenever I visit a tyre shop, I see many cases of bone-dry & corroded nuts/bolts & studs on cars/vans, being removed/refitted using unregulated airguns. And if they use a torque wrench they sometimes go way past the 'stop' indicator. It works until it fails.
@@terryross1754 I’ll stick to nearly four decades of design engineering. I am the one that writes the specifications for QA/QCs to follow.
@@glynnepritchard2526 Nothing personal, but I have come across enough errors - material/assembly failures, leaks, highly detailed connector analyses, in-depth RCA's, plus too many non-validated designs - to rely more on 5 decades of my own international experience in a wide variety of engineering companies and applications. Manufacturing QA/QC personnel are indeed normally in a 'captured' situation (e.g. Boeing ?), but not all QA/QC activity is limited by directives from engineering.
Best car show online and on tv, can’t wait for Saturday every week to sit down and watch some LSC’s
LEAVE THE V// !! Just shows the diligence that went into the build; I love it. I'd get the skirts color matched also...but that's just me! Can't wait to see it on the AWD dyno!! Loved these cars as a kid! You're living the dream, Alex!!
Please do a timing belt service. Most importantly the hydraulic tensioner and balancer. Also should upgrade fuel filter for e85
Definitely, and a quality belt. If it's still got the balance shaft it could do with a good new belt there too.
I thought he aleady did do the timing belt and used all mitsu stuff.....or maybe I'm thinking of G&G. Basically the first thing I always go soon as I get any DSM running, factory tensioner and belts are a must.
As the owner ofca classic 1967 Triumph car, I'm envious of all the parts you can find for your cars, they all seem to fit perfectly first time, whereas the reproduction parts for my car often seem either not to fit at all, or need a lot of work to make fit!
I've always had a soft spot in my heart for DSM's!
18:46 impedance, JINX Alex
Just in time! What i was waiting for. E55 in the back ❤.
Nothing says fast and reliable like Mustang and Cadillac. LOL.
51:45 Yes I am of the same mind set. I put a set of smaller type turbos on my car instead of a huge big boy and I am SO glad I did that. The low down torque is SO MUCH FUN! I think Jay Leno always says "All the fun is between 10 and 120" or something very close to that. Who drives around at speeds over that much of the time and if you are it's not for long. It's just bragging rights. And I don't care about top speed I like the PULL from DOWN LOW!
Thanks for the vid Alex love seeing the Eclipse getting some love and more PoWeR!! Man you picked just the right rims. It just suits so well, for some reason this gave me strong old Need For Speed nostalgia when I saw it with the new stance and rims. All it now needs for maximum tuner vibes is a subtle bodykit.
The 350z was the best car in the original NFS. The best one was NFS Underground because it had an open world and multiple racing disciplines. I won the game twice with different cars. They should remake it and port it over to the xbox and playstation. Or put it on mobile. Only problem is you would need a controller to play it properly.
He may have the wrong motor though
@@stevelouie5928idk why ea doesn't do this I'd buy the shit out of a nfs underground 1 and 2 remaster.
An Eclipse was a cool car when I was in high school. Probably a similar timeline for Alex. I had a friend who was starting out flipping cars, and he bought an Eclipse that had been in an accident. The damage was minor enough that he bought a body kit for it and it pretty much covered up the damage. It was from the Pimp My Ride era, as it had a second battery in the trunk and a place where a PlayStation had been. Anyway, Mike sold it and made a decent profit.
Love it been waiting for you to get a lincoln mark viii lsc purely because it matches your name
