  • I have just upgraded from the S21Ultra and I have to say overall I am highly satisfied, I do agree with your review and I know it takes a bit for the software updates to make the camera better. The only down side I have is that I noticed great moon shots on my S21Ultra and it looks worse on my S23 Ultra. I tried taking scene optimizer off, and HDR and playing around with some settings but overall too much noise and it looks really bad at times. Cannot get a descent shot of the moon if the moon is not a full moon. Any one else having these problems, hopefully a software update soon will fix these issues.

  • I dont know, for my eyes in almost every photo S23 Ultra is more sharp, taking in to consideration whole picture. There is much more details on the sides of the shot itself, where s22U is totally blurred. What I do agree, S23U night mode is too aggressive. Worth thing to mention, there is a bigger difference comparing it to Exynos version.

    • The Exynos s22 ultra is my daily driver and the picture quality is second to none, it is so good with its picture and video. Better video with 8k no crop, better photo with 200mp, selfie is better trust me I've taken a lot of shots. Better cpu, gpu, ram, portrait video and super steady mode is better not to mention the battery. It's a better overall phone.

No need to try side by side it's so noticeable, i can take a Moon Shot while walking. Also Night Time Foto and Video are better, but there you have to compare side by side, then is the difference clearly visible. For me it was an upsolutely worth upgrade if you want to have one of the best Camera-Phones. For everyone who doesn't take Telephoto Shots the difference is maybe not so clear (beneath the much better Battery Life of the S23 of course)

  • I think if you're coming from a significantly older model like the Note 10plus or the Note20u then the s23u is a nice upgrade. Even the s21u that doesn't have a built in spen the s23u is an upgrade. But if you're coming from last year's s22ultra well if you got money to spend then it's your choice. But personally for me since I have the S22Ultra already and had compared it side by side with the s23u there is only minimal difference with camera quality. Yes the s23u has the better cameras, but not by a long shot. And aesthetically both of them are identical so it would feel that you will have the same phone twice. I will save for next year see how the s24u will look like I hope it will come with a bigger screen at least 6.9" like the Note 20u had. For now I'm content with my s22ultra it still is a beast of a phone still takes beautiful pictures.

You can't expect such a major leap in just a year, for example look at the iPhone 14 pro's 48 MP camera, is there much of a differnce from the iP 13 P ? Exactly ...... Plus, after a few updates things will get better on the S23 Ultra, just like the iPhone 14 Pro's. If you ask me i think this needs to be reviewed again after 6 months

    @ifedayojenyo@ifedayojenyo Жыл бұрын
  • Well, I don't disagree, but it's more complicated. There are so many scenarios with the main camera of the s23u where you can see a big difference in sharpness and texture level - a few might borderline over sharpness - but I am kind of biased because I know exactly how to find them after doing hundreds of shots versus the s22u. But on the other hand I am also "biased" in spotting many hdr related problems with the sky being cyan and the highlights being too yellow on the s23u that you see in this video without mentioning it. However, these color problems are expected to be fixed very soon.

Definitely nice to compare default styles to say Leica authentic on Xiaomi or Hasselblad colors on OnePlus. • I'm still testing my s23Ultra. I got one a week and a half ago. Had to return the first one due to a 2 major glitches but the 2nd seems functionally OK. So far I find the 200mp to be a complete waste of time. Shooting at 6x, the images come back 12240x16320 and are a digitized MESS. They look like they were painted with an airbrush that had a half clogged spray tip. Fine detail is totally destroyed. What should be 'adjacent' pixels are fused together into strange uneven block shapes and jig-saw patterns that look nothing like any pixels I've ever seen,. The images are not useable at all. Default jpegs at 10x provide infinitely clearer, more useful images. The over sharpening, over clarity and general over processing, however, kills it. Photographing squirrels and small birds in our yard yields fur and feather detail that is anything but natural looking. It is so over sharpened the fur on a squirrel looks more like little pipes. Nothing in nature looks like that. For comparison I pulled out an old Fuji s100fs from 2008 with it's 400mm (35mm equiv) built in zoom lens and also shot some with my D7200 using both the 18-140 kit lens and also using my 70-300 FX lens. With those cameras, little animals and little birds look like little animals and little birds. With the new s23Ultra they look like artificial renderings. I lease my phone and my old contract expired so this seemed like the sensible move up from my s21Ultra., but honestly ...I"m not even slightly impressed based on any images I've taken so far. Since most of the problems appear to be programmatically generated, I'm hoping Samsung can sort this out. The phone has had a couple of updates over the last few days so it could be one of those messed things up. All I know is that 50mp and 200mp images examined in Lightroom ...are unusable and there is no point in taking up space on any devices or Google Photos etc. with them. Incidentally, I live in Lightroom and sometime use Photoshop and/or Topaz Photo Ai on some images that need work. Using those programs I really haven't been able to do much with images shot with my old s21Ultra or this new s23Ultra. Lightroom and/or Photoshop (Camera Raw) can reduce sharpening and texture a bit and that does knock out some of the horrible digitization, but still, the images just don't compete with my cameras. Topaz Photo Ai seems to just amplify the problems, yet it does nice things with 'Camera' images. Videos may be better, but as far as PHOTOGRAPHY goes, to me, IT'S ALL MARKETING and SAMSUNG NEEDS TO SERIOUSLY IMPROVE THE SOFTWARE!

  • 8k is great, but where to store these videos? how much memory should you have in your phone to save all these photos and videos? I got curious and looked at how much memory my photos and videos take up in Google Photos (I've been using Google phones for a long time)... 550 GB in 8 years and this is super compressed quality. 8k is cool, but it's expensive and not everyone needs it.

    @ded_zamay@ded_zamay Жыл бұрын
    • Samsungs 8K records at 80mb/s at 30fps. Their 4K records at 50mb/s at 30fps so its about 50% larger than 4K, while having 4x the pixels and noticeably better quality. Recording 4K at 60FPs uses 80mb/s so same as 4K 30. Previously 8K had a heavy crop and limited to 24FPS so now its actually usable. I have 1.3GB in Google Photos from the last 12 years, and data prices should go down over time. BTW, iPhones ProRES 4K records at 880mbps... (so I rarely use it)

I think is a very well-balanced phone and great for most uses that don't need iOS. Personally, I'm stuck to the iPhone because of Apple Watch and MacOS integration which we use for Final Cut Pro. It saves me a lot of time being in one ecosystem and most friends and family use iMessage as well.

Friends of mine with IPhones happily embrace the ecosystem and have other Apple devices to link with their phones and they really could NOT be happier. And why not?, as they are all lucky to be able to afford multiple pieces of this ecosystem. I love my new S23 Ultra big time just as anyone having bought, or who is about to buy, an IPhone 14 Pro Max loves their fine device. In saying all this, I also think it is good that the Samsung v Apple rivalry exists as it just shows how passionately people love their devices and seek to avenge any 'attack' on them in these comments sections..🤣🤣 I enjoy reading these delightful squabbles because these can be very intelligent squabblers who raise very interesting points of comparison. Same with Huawei, not much change after that to the P40 and so on, so I purchased the S21 Ultra! Now I'm back on the band wagon for now with the S23 Ultra. Never liked the design change of the S22 Ultra, which was a tweaked version of the of the S21 Ultra, not even worth looking at. The S23 Ultra is a complete new beast, that carries nothing the same as the tweaked S22 Ultra under the hood. Only similarity between S22 and S23 is the in design, Spen and camera layout, which the S23 has bigger lens. S23 Ultra is the new over all king for awhile!!

I tested the S22 Ultra when it came out as well as the S23 Ultra and honestly, the differences are so minimal that I'm not considering a replacement. Honestly, I had 2X problem with S21 Ultra Screen, it died 2 times! Of course, Samsung replaced the phone and I got a new one, but I just don't trust them anymore. The same thing happened to me with their Monitor. Since I've never owned an iPhone, I think I'll get the 14Pro Max or just wait for the 15. At the end of the day, with a little Photoshop, any phone can take great pictures :) Thank you for this Video :)

    • I got a 14 pro max from a 21 ultra. The camera is better and as a Samsung fan… that pains me to say that. In all honesty. How is my 2 year old phone so much lower grade the 23 ultra. It isn’t. My camera used to be better. All of a sudden, after an update I started to get blurs and distortions, and colors were not true. I am one of those people that bought the phone for the cameras. I used mine for work and play all day every day so I was able to tell right away. Now Apple does not let us have as much control. Like no pro modes, or directors view. But it does stuff without having to do it manually. Like going into macro mode when the phone is right above what it is trying to take a picture of.

Most people use the out-of-the-box settings so when people watch these videos for the next 1-2 years they are trying to see the difference they will get. I've done these videos for many years and when you do videos showing a bunch of optimizations made for each product you have other people that complain. By the time all mistakes are corrected and everything is (could be) polished - S24 series will be presented and - same as now, we will have "revolutionary, never before seen" results. I swear, if Samsung released flagships once in two years (one year for Fold/Flip and one for S lineup), with this hardware they would have phone that's way above any competition.
