Razer Basilisk Ultimate Charging Issue - Well, at least it's not double clicking

As if I haven't had enough mouse issues last year, let's start the year with another one. 😐😐😐 My mouse, the Razer Basilisk Ultimate, wasn't charging to 100% for weeks. Not even when I plugged the mouse directly into USB bypassing the dock would it charge. I tell what I tried and what actually worked.

  • I just noticed the double click issue today on my Basilisk Hyperspeed, and was looking into the ultimate. Ugh... can Razer just release a good product?

  • I was having the same exact issue. This video was very nice to watch. I don't have a charging dock, so I tried to turn it off while plugged in, but this did not fix the issue. My fix was that I had the USB plugged into a splitter and then plugged into my computer. I moved it to directly plug into my computer and all is good now. so I would recommend if the solutions in this video don't work for you, then make sure the issue isnt the USB port it is plugged into.

    @jordansmall1578@jordansmall15782 жыл бұрын
    • What do you mean by plugging it in to a splitter?

      @minininja9322@minininja93223 ай бұрын
    • @@minininja9322 it’s been a while, but I think I meant. Make sure the issue isn’t with what the USB is plugged into. I had mine plugged into a crappy USB hub that connected to my computer. Either get a USB hub that can be plugged in to the wall for power, or plug the mouse straight into your computer. If you are still having issues, try plugging it in to other USB ports on your computer. And if you are still having issues, idk. Maybe find another KZhead video. I don’t remember what this video was about.

  • I have had a ton of problems with mine, too. The charging issue solution you provided, turning off the mouse, did nothing for me. I've left it: on, while on the dock; on, while plugged into a PC (including my Razer 15" Advanced laptop); on, while plugged into a PD charging brick; and off in all three states. Nothing consistently gets it to charge. I can leave it plugged in for days with no increase in the battery level, then one day it may just charge fully without reason. I've also had the scroll wheel suddenly stop working, for hours to days, then start working again for no reason, and yes I've used compressed air, reinstalled the drivers/software, tried using the mouse without Razer drivers, and used it on multiple computers. Then the wheel will just suddenly start working again. Fortunately, I was still in the warranty period--my warranty ends in *2 weeks*, but I just contacted support and provided them pics and videos of all the problems. I truly regret buying this mouse.

  • Similar issue with mine. The light pattern is indicating that it's docked and charging, but the battery drains from doing the flash pattern. Turning the mouse off seems to only fix it sometimes for me, I've turned the mouse off, docked it and looked at it in Synapse to confirm it was charging, and woke up with less battery a few hours later. Pretty annoying.

  • Hi, I have the exact same issues you are having with the mouse. Since i've had these issues on multiple occasions I came to the conclusion that it indeed is a software issue. The only thing that worked for me is simply to wait until it charges again. As it mostly occured after some software updates, I assume that it is a bug of some kind. I hope they will consider this issue in future updates so that i will not have to wait until they fix their mistakes in order to charge my mouse.

    • Any update ?

      @emindortkardes@emindortkardes2 жыл бұрын
    • @@emindortkardes Nope. The only thing you can do is put it on the dock and see if it charges. If it doesn't, take it off, turn it on, click a few times, turn it off again and put it back on the charging dock. If it still doesn't charge after you did that 2 or 3 times, it's the software again. You can either try to restart or you'll just have to wait for next day and try again then. One of these usually works.

  • I pretty much solved this by leaving the Razer USB cord plugged into the mouse directly and into the computer rather than a USB hub or charger. I've had this mouse for about 2 years. I suspect the rechargeable battery is wearing out, which they do.

  • I think I might of found a solution... I ended up getting a new ssd so I did a clean install of windows and then installed razer synapse 3.0, I made sure that my firmware for the mouse was updated along with the dock. I turned off my mouse and had it on the dock for about an hour charging. It looked like it finally was working. But then the charge inicator icon located in synapse wasn't showing the correct charge on the dashboard or when you clicked to view the configuration of the mouse. I found online someone suggested uninstalling synapse 3.0 then install synapse 2.0 and login. Then uninstall synapse 2.0 and install 3.0(only the synapse not the chroma add-ons) and login there. That looks to of fixed my issue - I probably won't be buying another wireless mouse from razer after that but I spent more than $150 on the mouse so I better make it last... - I had logitech wireless mouse before this and I'll probably go back to that once this mouse is finally RIP.

I have the razer basilisk ultimate and the micro usb isn't slotting all the way in and there is no indication of charging. the mouse is just flashing red which it does when it needs charging and then nothing happens. Basically it isn't charging and the cable isn't going in all the way so i don't know what to do

    @sky_kbrookes@sky_kbrookes2 жыл бұрын
    • The only way the cable is not slotting in is if it's damaged, inserted incorrectly (upside down), or you simply need to apply a little more force to make it click in (if we're talking about the dock). I believe on the mouse itself you don't have to use the cable it came with but can use other micro usb cables as well so you can try that. I all else fails you need to return it or get with Razer customer support.

  • I've been having a very similar issue with my Viper Ultimate (which has the same type of charging dock/cable setup) and it's very frustrating. The only way I can get mine to charge is if I completely drain the battery to 0% to the point where it won't turn on at all anymore without plugging it in. Otherwise it just sits at the same percentage or close to the same percentage it was when I plugged it in. Very very frustrating. I have only had my mouse for around a year, and I love almost everything about it, but for my battery to just completetly die on me like this in such a short amount of time is ridiculous. I honestly think it''s just the batteries they use for these mice. This combined with how buggy synapse can get at times makes me think I probably will never buy another Razer product again. Which again is a shame because in every other sense the mouse is almost perfect.

I'll bump the mouse and it'll start charging again for 1% and then stop. Every single 1% gained stops the charging whether the mouse is toggled off or on. The usb cable doesn't charge it at all. I've done all the steps. I have to babysit the damn mouse just to charge it. Not buying another Razer product again. There's always something broken with them.

  • Very good video, thanks. I assume your mouse is out of warranty, or like me, you just can't deal with their tech support anymore. If so, one thing to consider is the life cycle of the battery in the mouse. Rechargeable batteries will recharge a certain number of times, and then begin to struggle to charge fully, eventually not charging at all. Best guess would be about five to seven years of regular recharging, and I would expect it to begin to fail. Which type of USB port do you have it plugged into? I would highly recommend using 3.x. 500 mA for USB 1.1 and USB 2.0, and 900 mA for USB 3.x. That would make a big difference. Some motherboards have utilities they bundle with the board that they claim can increase the power output of USB ports. Did you move the slider for low power mode? I just noticed that mine was at 90%, which is not where I set it. Set it to a low percentage, and that might help.

So they will send me a replaced one. I couldn't live without a mouse. Therefore, I choose to pay a deposit for them to send me the mouse first. However, nobody contacts me for the deposit and sending me the mouse. I tried 5 times by talking to different people. The problem is still not sloved. I gave up. Logitech's service is way better. • You can try plugging it into a powered USB hub or even plugging it into a dedicated USB charger that plugs into the wall (the same one you would use for a phone). In short, it might be that what you're using to charge the mouse might not be supplying it with enough juice. Computer USBs are known for this issue. This is ultimately on Razer for making such a power-hungry mouse but it's worth a try. Other than that, it might be time for another mouse which is a shame considering how expensive this damn thing is.

The products seem to work great for a short period of time then something happens and they start having issues that typically are bad enough to prevent you from using whatever product you bought. Then you contact customer service and it's a complete roll of the dice rather or not you'll get the help you need. One thing in particular that blew my mind was when I bought the Kishi, I had to contact customer support to get special inserts for the game pad to work with my Razer Phone 2 mind you they were 100% aware of this before shipping the game pad and decided letting the customer have to deal with all that is the best method to handle compatibility. FFS. That in it of itself should tell anyone what they need to know about the company.
