The ODM swords are actually extremely strong it is just that titan skin is so tough that they break so often. So in a fight not against titans I don’t think they would break at all

Tbf, Blake is able to slice through metal. As evidenced by her slicing through several Atlassian Knights and an Atlassian Paladin and its missiles. Even though she had never done so in the anime, I'm pretty sure slicing and breaking through a sword wouldn't pose much if a problem, since swords are thinner and less dense than metal armor. Especially if you take into account that their weapons are also covered in aura, as evidenced by the Food Fight scene where Blake and Pyrrha fight each other with bread (and Ren fights Yang with leeks) and their food weapons don't ever break, not to mention M&K confirming weapons are conduits of aura. Blake's weapon is able to withstand massive blows because of this, but since Mikasa's weapon doesn't have protective aura, they break easily.

Of course they were going to have their own character win even if she would have been killed several times over by a fighter who has literally been fighting her whole life against giant monsters that are legitimately nearly unkillable
@@casematecardinal... Except they literally did their due diligence, if you had paid attention at all to their breakdown of the two. Yeah, maybe Mikasa has been fighting monsters her whole life, but literally so has Blake. Probably for longer since her parents were well known fighters before becoming the leaders of Menagerie. She grew up outside the protection of the kingdoms in Menagerie, where if you can't fight you can't survive. Mikasa is a human through and through, with no special abilities to her name besides training, while Blake has aura, a semblance, a swiss army katana, and faunus traits. And they literally killed Weiss with Mitsiru in DB, so bias can't even be claimed to be a factor.
@@batknight2014 a titan is superior to almost all grim. Especially the mid sized ones. They're much tougher and have only a single way to kill them. If you put Mikasa in rwby, she would do just fine, if you put Blake in AoT, she would be killed. Horribly. This isnt even considering that Mikasa's martial build is a hard counter to Blake's. Her swords have more reach and dont have to serve double duty as her mobility. Her mobility tools are also superior, giving her an all axis agility advantage. Her tactical prowess is superior especially since Mikasa has experience fighting people who have similar locomotive abilities where as Blake does not. And this may just be Rwby being a bad show but Mikasa is consistently in a level of danger and in desperate circumstances far above that of Blake's. Mikasa has all the tools she needs to beat Blake.
Fun fact: Blake's Japanese voice actress is Yū Shimamura. Who also plays as Annie's Japanese voice actress. Which means... Mikasa vs. Annie all over again.
Except Annie is a bisexual cat/human huntress and she won.

I think Mikasa doesn't know how cat girls work.
I think an advantage that was overlooked was endurance. With Aura Blake can tank multiple hits just fine. In contrast any hit on Mikasa would instantly be a detriment. Mikasa would be whittled down by the time the Blake’s aura broke.
Not only that, Blake's semblance consumes almost no aura, specially when powered up by dust. Blake could've done that hit and run all day long

@@InterdictionAirsoft You also need to remember that a good majority of the time DB is simply going by fan requests with these matchups and aren't picking them out of their own interest most of the time. The point of these matchups isn't to find something close or debatable, they're to take two characters with similarities to each other in terms of personality, backstory, how they fight, etc and pit them against each other, which sometimes by default leads to incredibly one-sided matches such as this one, it's not really DB's fault.

Yang losing an arm: Physically crippled, mentally scarred, PTSD, takes multiple seasons to recover. Blake losing an arm: *IMMA GO FIGHT A TITAN NOW!*
Yang is not simple, she hides behind provado, bikes, sunglasses and always puts on a mask, she fights for reasons not her own and thus.. well craps out occasionally on the motivation meter, it's a surprisingly well written character for what it is, honestly. And yes loosing an arm means a fight is pretty much over unless you have some kind of cyborg nervous system that can compartmentalise that trauma.
@@NeutronicalGaming I think you may have missed my point which was to playfully poke fun at the inaccuracy of the Battle's aftermath. Realistically after losing an arm, Blake should not have been able to just walk it off and proceed to fight monsters with a cocky grin. This isn't Metal Gear Rising. She should be stumbling away from the battlefield in the end, relieved to have won, but exhausted by all this fight has taken from her. I know it's a nitpick, which is why I addressed it through a joke

@@PlasticChairVergil To be fair, Blake isn't a normal human. She's a faunus and faunuses are animal/human hybrids. Her healing factor probably is different than normal humans, so she probably was able to survive without her left arm long enough to fight the titan and escape to seek medical help.
The fight was pretty unfair to begin with All Mikasa had was superhuman strength and speed at max I knew after watching barely half the introduction to Blake that all Mikasa's gear was outmatched Hell!! Even her feats were outmatched I was ready for sore defeat But that dismemberment at the end took me by surprise Props to you guys
90% of death battles is this fight it’s the perfect shining example of what this whole channel is about. Getting giga tons of tnt out of nowhere allowing characters to have more or less durability then they actually do or just matching characters that would wipe another in combat anyway just like alucard vs DIO just like all these other fights but the music will be good and the homage to the originals will be good maybe SOMETIMES the animation (though it’s very inconsistent) but it just shows what your infor if you want to watch this channel.
That's what happens when you put two characters in based entirely on their abilities or backstories being similar and not taking into account their actual power brackets. Killua VS Mikasa is a perfect example. Just because they both use electricity, they put a country level monster who could change the entirety of the weather with a thought VS what's essentially just a walking stun gun. I never saw anyone even request that matchup before so either they really hate Killua or just wanted to promote Index. Likely the latter

But they were eventually able to damage the Nevermore, so Ruby's weapon and Yang should be comparable to that level. Considering Hazel and Roman can hold off Ruby but sometimes struggles with Blake. The scaling can line up.
Can’t believe I slept on this episode for so long. The animation and fight choreography was super tight. Great job!

That is because RWBY is poorly written.
To be fair, you also need to have luck to win as well, even the most skilled warriors could die because they weren’t lucky.
Not as much as Weiss gets beaten.

If Iron Fist has any move that uses Chi, he's in for a shock. Po has shown to be a very fast learner when it comes to Chi, only needing to see a move once to figure it out.
@@aienma6660 Iron Fist's entire Style Revolves Around Chi. The thing is I don't know if Po can potentially imitate everything that Iron Fist can do, regardless of Po's knack for Chi
To be honest, I can't really see Po winning this. Yeah, he's tough, but he has limits, and often has to get creative to beat stronger opponents rather than just overpowering them (I.E, redirecting Shen's cannonballs and letting Kai effectively commit suicide via chi overload). Iron Fist has that same creativity, plus the power to go toe to toe with the various superpowered demi-gods of the marvel universe. Not to mention that while Po is durable, that's only against fists and feet. He barely survived getting blasted point blank by Shen's cannon during the second movie, and nothing in the third suggests he's gotten any tougher since then. His chi might give him a healing factor, but I think you'd have to stretch to consider it a defensive boost too. Iron Fist's... well, fist, can make that cannon shot look like a lovetap with each blow. Po is screwed.... (If you have evidence on the contrary, please, do tell. I'm more than willing to revise my opinion should new information come to light)
My money is on PO. I do know who both these next guys are but PO is my favorite DreamWorks main character. Sorry Hiccup

Honestly this was kind of a rock and a hard place situation for death battle, it was either Blake vs Akame where Blake dies horribly or this MU where Blake horribly murdered Mikasa. Either way people would inevitably complain, had they done Blake vs Akame their detractors would say that they just threw Blake under the bus to hide their “bias”.

this is still in my top 10 favorite death battles 2 years later. the way it's choreographed and animated is so good, and that's not even counting the beautiful soundtrack.
I think it's ironic that the fight started because Mikasa was trying to save Blake's life
I can't believe how poorly Blake was portrayed. You'd think Rooster Teeth would know how thier characters actually act... Why was Blake so rude and agressive for no reason? Why was she so non-chalant about having her aura broken and losing her arm when Yang passed out and had PTSD from it? Also, in her current state, Blake is definitely gonna die to that titan at the end.

They also said Blake is fast enough to keep up with people who are faster than lighting but only Emerald and Mercury have done that, which she has never gone up against, Adam most likely in that level too but she needed help to defeat him.

Anyone else notice that Blake’s blade on the thunder spear switched sides? The point of the hook was facing right when the spear was facing Blake, then she turned it around so the spear was facing Mikasa and the point of the hook was facing left when she threw it. Cut to the shot where Mikasa gets stabbed, the hook being scraped down the spear was then pointing right… 🤨

It wasn’t exaggerated that she has Titan’s strength. Repeatedly showed her carrying massive loads of steel or rock with one arm.
Like who casually carry 200 kg of steel train tracks?
She doesn't scale fully to all of those crazy feats that most titans do is what they mean. She isn't a titan shifter and she needs special tools to take on foes like armored titans, for instance.
Titans carry over 200 *tons* of weight, she doesn't really scale to their full power.
Can she suplex a titan though?
I think it's more accurate to say her strength scales to a normal human the same way a titan does (EG how the attack titan is able to lift a giant boulder that would be beyond what a human can do with a similarly scaled rock)

It's extraordinary cursed, but still funny
While it's disappointing that Blake doesn't talk much in this fight, in RWBY, she isn't the type to trash talk and generally prefers to focus on her opponent, unless she's fighting with someone else on her side, or it's personal to her, so I'm not really mad about it, and ignoring the obvious jokes about this battle, and the underestimation of Blake's alra, she's still is the better fighter of the two.
they tried to make it look close but this must've been the most unbalanced fight they had over here.

Not really. It's different tech advancements for different purposes. We haven't seen evidence of bio-engineering anywhere close to what is depicted in Titan, whereas Remnant has pseudo-magic (and literal magic, though mostly hidden from public knowledge) and a greater focus on more traditional combat along with much better opportunities (ie: not a locked-down kingdom on the edge of destruction/self-destruction) for developing robotics and advanced machinery. Though, if I understand the setting right, Titan implies that the tech was developed at some point, but is just mostly abandoned due to the situation making it nigh-useless for a long time. Also... seriously, every character that uses bullets in these things just isn't allowed as a rule to actually HIT/do meaningful damage because... reasons.
I mean Mika is still a human a normal human with superhuman skills Blake is not even human technically and she has powers that surpasses normal human capabilities as a matter fact that only shows that how if Blake fought somebody on her level she’ll crush them 😂😂

@@redschnee5850 technically on the animataion mikasa should have won the moment blake's aura was gone most ruby characters are exhausted after that, and loosing an arm should have made her unable to pull the op anime cutscene move she did at the end. So At least in this video's animation I feel like mikasa should have won. Though of course blake would win in any other scenario

Yah, this is still my favourite fight of the season so far; The 3D models, editing and especially the music really worked for me. Also, this is coming from someone who's seen all of RWBY and the first season of AOT. The former I find to be an entertaining but heavily flawed series, while the latter is terrifically handled in nearly every way.
@@Matt-nb8vn Too late. :) I do know some things about the later season, but I've fourtunately saved myself from knowing how Eren turns (even though I know it happens at some point). Interestingly enough, I did start season 2 a couple days ago, but I've only gotten to the first episode with the talking sasquatch titan.

This was a sweet fight. These two characters would make a sweet team against any foe.
I'm hoping they keep this pattern of using the current outfit change for the rwby characters they use in the future. So hopefully whatever outfit we see in the coming volumes will make an appearance

@@emilschofield9129 She didnt use her semblance after her aura broke. And it doesn't mean you're tired and weak. People like Qrow and Pyrrha have fought with broken aura. It just means your defense is at 0 and your semblence wont activate. Puts you in a huge disadvantage, but it doesn't mean you're too tired to fight.

This was closer to being fair except for the fact that Mikasa would run out of blades and gas too quickly. (See ps4 game for how quickly you can use up resources) Blake on the other hand has a tremendous amount of aura and stock of dust from her connections to the Schnee company (Weiss) thus she would be able to hold her own long after Mikasa runs out of gear.
She wasn't horrified, more actually, unable to deny that she saw it coming, was disappointed in herself, and disgusted him and herself, and gave up on another failed relationship. First with her parents, and then, Adam.

I found that the more reliable way to predict Every DB without having to do all the maths is by comparing the universes the opponents belongs to. They choose characters having a similar place in their respective universe. Thus, the more realistic is the universe the less the character is able to win the Death Battle. It is striking in this battle, with a horrifyingly realistic universe VS sci-fi & magic universe.
Usually true...not so much in this case. It makes for some pretty good storytelling anyway, but this time they had Blake pull out her crazy anime clone powers at the halfway point and kinda dominate until the rocket launchers came into play. Blake then just kinda...out-animed Mikasa.
the show is still fun though, proof that spoil doesn't prevent pleasure!
Funny thing is, there are two ways for Blake to make the fight easier: 1. Fight at night, preferably midnight. Faunus have much better senses and that includes nightvision 2. Destroy Mkasa's propulsors (I know they have another name). She scored multiple hits on Mikasa before parrying the thunder spear, so she could have destroyed the propulsors during those surprise attacks and removed the most important tool for her enemy: mobility

You know that many very famous matchups are clear cut. They don´t have to be close to be good.
It's almost like the fight on-paper isn't anything approaching a fair matchup. Y'know - the kind of fight Goku vs Superman was deemed to be, way back when they used that basis as reason why they wouldn't use Supes again. But if it's a character their bosses own who's getting wanked to hell, guess that's okay.

The story becomes more complex and deep the longer you watch, until you realise that those monsters were the lesser evil. And yes, there are super-human characters. But the anime focus is not on the power itself, but rather in what people do with it.

I understand your point, but I don’t see how this example is highballing. Mikasa’s gear could help her reach those speeds incredibly quickly. Would one second really be too much? I haven’t watched AoT so apologies if this is blatant information.

Or scaling Mikasa to bullet speed without even considering that part of dodging has to do with prediction (which Levi has show to be great at) but lighting is nearly impossible to predict so that feat would directly scale to speed (trusting death battle there because I haven't seen any RWBY).
@@viperstriker4728 even the lightning strikes was heavily prediction reliant as it was being directed by an individual, that and you need to just be faster than the nodes can connect not faster than the actual lightning. I do not know why death battle always gets that wrong.
