I was 15 then, watching the first half from home. Jarni scores, I get on my landline phone, call my friend, and we're outside the minute the 1st half ended. Tons of firecrackers, even guns shooting into the sky (Someone also had tracer ammo), and then the whole neighborhood driving slowly and using their horn all the time. I saw my friend get on a truck with like 3-4 girls and 3-4 guys, and wanted to get it. The driver took off, but saw me running and kinda slowed down as everyone on it cheered me to get on. I felt I broke the world sprint record in 20, 50, and 100m :D and I hoped on, and got on with them pulling me in. Everyone scraped a couple of kuna and gave the unknown driver for gas, and we spent the net hour or whatever riding through the hood, waving the Croatian flag and basically having a great time. I'll never forget that, as long as I live.

I remember that match quite well. It was a good example how one event can shift a whole match. Until the red card, Germany, although not especially convincing, were clearly superior. Croatia were almost not happening in attack. Then the double blow of red card and Jarny‘s wonder shot shortly before the break changed the whole match.

Mathaus was old, Klinsman was getting up there too, Germany had a mediocre team for its standards historically. Suker was a major star, Boban was starting for Milan, Croatia had a lot of top talent. The only thing that was somewhat surprising was the extent of the defeat

I'll never forget this match. It was full of bad blood. We wanted to pay the Germans back for that loss at the Euro 1996 in England. And boy, we did, with interests. Well back in 1996 Croatia only had themselves to blame, because on that occasion they still considered the tactical foul play equally important as playing the actual game effectively. Not that by now they abandoned the former, or even by 1998 - Wörns was all but Hamrin'ed by Suker, let's be honest here - but at least meanwhile they've learned the latter.

Great technicians but they have also known how to cope with the arrogance of so-called better opponents who looked down upon on their opponents and couldn't stand to lose from so-called weaker teams. I just guess who these teams are. England comes first on my mind and the second one, have a guess. Yes, you had a help from a match official and I do remember that match very well. Regarding the current German team, I can see they have gone woke and progressive with a certain armbands colour combination. Go woke, go broke. Your team have been running on renewable energy lately and I can see it hasn't worked out very well for a strong and resilient German team which I fondly remember from the past. Never die untill the last second. But, that's a different story. 3.8million people and still able to kick some big asses in the world of football. That's Croatia. That game between Croatia and Germany at the Euro 1996 was still fresh in the Croatian players mind. The Germans got cocky before this match. This was more than a game. And Croatia did have skillful players, but they always played hard and tough football. Asanović was a great technician with the ball, but he knew how to use his elbows in tackles.

This Croatian Team is the greatest that the country has. #Suker was a dangerouse striker. The only reason that he didnt won a Ballon D'Or is due the presence of Zidan and Ronaldo Brazil. However, I prefer Suker to Stoichkov, who won Balon D'Or in 1994. #Boban was one of the greatest midfielder in his era. I prefer Boban to Modric in terms of technical skills. #Stanic was awesome winger. #Bilic was an outstanding defender. # In general that team was complete and played a fantastic football.

Germany did nothing but kicked the lumps out of the opposition all tournement. That intentional elbow from Bierhoff on Soldo at 3:50 mark should have been straight red too! Germany were lucky and didn’t even deserve to be in the semis, let alone something from this game.

I was 15 then, watching the first half from home. Jarni scores, I get on my landline phone, call my friend, and we're outside the minute the 1st half ended. Tons of firecrackers, even guns shooting into the sky (Someone also had tracer ammo), and then the whole neighborhood driving slowly and using their horn all the time. I saw my friend get on a truck with like 3-4 girls and 3-4 guys, and wanted to get it. The driver took off, but saw me running and kinda slowed down as everyone on it cheered me to get on. I felt I broke the world sprint record in 20, 50, and 100m :D and I hoped on, and got on with them pulling me in. Everyone scraped a couple of kuna and gave the unknown driver for gas, and we spent the net hour or whatever riding through the hood, waving the Croatian flag and basically having a great time. I'll never forget that, as long as I live.

I remember that match quite well. It was a good example how one event can shift a whole match. Until the red card, Germany, although not especially convincing, were clearly superior. Croatia were almost not happening in attack. Then the double blow of red card and Jarny‘s wonder shot shortly before the break changed the whole match.

Mathaus was old, Klinsman was getting up there too, Germany had a mediocre team for its standards historically. Suker was a major star, Boban was starting for Milan, Croatia had a lot of top talent. The only thing that was somewhat surprising was the extent of the defeat
I'll never forget this match. It was full of bad blood. We wanted to pay the Germans back for that loss at the Euro 1996 in England. And boy, we did, with interests. Well back in 1996 Croatia only had themselves to blame, because on that occasion they still considered the tactical foul play equally important as playing the actual game effectively. Not that by now they abandoned the former, or even by 1998 - Wörns was all but Hamrin'ed by Suker, let's be honest here - but at least meanwhile they've learned the latter.

Great technicians but they have also known how to cope with the arrogance of so-called better opponents who looked down upon on their opponents and couldn't stand to lose from so-called weaker teams. I just guess who these teams are. England comes first on my mind and the second one, have a guess. Yes, you had a help from a match official and I do remember that match very well. Regarding the current German team, I can see they have gone woke and progressive with a certain armbands colour combination. Go woke, go broke. Your team have been running on renewable energy lately and I can see it hasn't worked out very well for a strong and resilient German team which I fondly remember from the past. Never die untill the last second. But, that's a different story. 3.8million people and still able to kick some big asses in the world of football. That's Croatia. And Croatia did have skillful players, but they always played hard and tough football. Asanović was a great technician with the ball, but he knew how to use his elbows in tackles.

This Croatian Team is the greatest that the country has. #Suker was a dangerouse striker. The only reason that he didnt won a Ballon D'Or is due the presence of Zidan and Ronaldo Brazil. However, I prefer Suker to Stoichkov, who won Balon D'Or in 1994. #Boban was one of the greatest midfielder in his era. I prefer Boban to Modric in terms of technical skills. #Stanic was awesome winger. #Bilic was an outstanding defender. # In general that team was complete and played a fantastic football.

Many, many bad fouls by Croatia and no red card. One foul by Wörns, red card immediately. Germany had 3 100% chances but didn't score. So you'll loose the match in the end for sure.Croatia did the right things in this match, to get under the skin of the Germans.
