I love how they say "you don't miss class in law school" and then proceed to tell two stories where they missed class. 😂
Drama Queens
For all the classes I've missed the guys who attended left class as blank as me who wasn't there
That's why it's a horror story I guess.
Eric Toribio I think she meant like missing class for no reason.
R
Law students operate on constant fear of failure and humiliation
I was a bad student, I'd be honest and say "I didn't do the reading...yet" but nobody judged me because whenever I did talk I said good things haha
Then u see the law students from T14 schools and they r the cockiest people you'll meet. They want to be called on
So............ My life now? I'm golden lol
TRUE
Stephan This exists in my undergrad as a philosophy major, lol 😂
I have a law School Horror Story it's called "I am currently a Law School student".
😂😂
Despina Chrisanthou lol just think about the salary of your future job to keep you going 😂
😂
oooh. same -_-
I also have one, it's called "I start Law School in august and I'm already ready to graduate" also called "I will take the Bar the same time as Kim K and if she passes and I don't I will be publicly shamed for life"
As someone who has recently become a university teacher, calling out random people during classes/lectures is literally the WORST way to get students to pay attention. You're motivating the students through fear, which studies show actually decreases the knowledge retained from a class. You need to INSPIRE students to WANT to learn your material. Not just put people on the spot and embaras them into memorizing material.
Washing stud PERIOD
that is so true! I never thought about it that way.
The fact that your a university teacher yet u can't spell simple words would definitely make me have my doubts about u. I mean seriously come on
@@devinterrazas5465 ''can't spell simple words'' The fact that you try to point out people's spelling errors yet don't even know the difference between ''your'' and ''you're'' and can't even spell ''you'' properly would definitely make me have my doubts about you. I mean seriously come on.
As a current law student, I want to comment that we generally actually prefer the classes in which professors cold call. It keeps us accountable in actually doing the readings because we have no assignments except the final at the end of the semester. Also, gunners are a colossal waste of time (people who step on other people to get ahead and raise their hands in class just to get attention). Professors can minimize the impact of gunners on the rest of the class. The young professors I've had who try to encourage participation end up being the least effective because classroom discussion is constantly derailed and we never end up finishing the material that we're supposed to cover. One professor, in fact, had to add extra classes at the end of the semester because she had a participation requirement in her class. It's also important to note that the "material" is actually super unimportant in law school. No lawyers remember any content they learn in law school. What they're trying to teach is actually analysis, discussion, advocacy, argument. The professors are forcing every single student to exercise their brains in a way they would actually do in court in front of a judge. It's really important to be able to articulate an answer to a question that you have no idea what the answer to is because that's actually going to happen a lot of the time in front of judges, opposing counsel, and other adversaries. I think it's just another method of learning. Honestly, I find the cold call method extremely effective. You can definitely see the progress that students make over the semester in the quality of their cold calls. As they get more confident, the cold calls end up being a great confidence booster because they are a true test of your academic progress. Just my two cents.
It would be cool to make this a series and do it with different types of school: Med, vet, communications, engineering, etc
Gabriela Garcia oooh yes!!
GENIUS
Yes!, please!!!!
Gabriela Garcia nursing too
amy kacey yeah for sure I was just listing some examples
They omitted the trauma and humiliation caused by other students who volunteer to answer the questions you couldn’t even understand
Lizbeth Morales those bitches 😂 Gunners always annoy everyone
Lizbeth Morales : peach!!! Or the ones who interrupt your answers the moment your pause is too long for their liking
Z Malek ayyyyyy heathers
Oh no. I'm one of those students(sometimes). I didn't know people hated that. I offered to answer mostly because some of our lecturers get pissed off or makes a face when students can't answer them. 🙂
I like that because that’s saving you
The fact that we normalize this huge levels of stress is a bit worrying. But also, now I know I'm not the only law school student living constantly terrified and on the verge of tears.

Omg😂
Laverne Blaszczyk They make up a portion of the school but Harvard is actually pretty affordable if you have the grades to back it up. Watch company man's video on it, he breaks it down pretty well.
Laverne Blaszczyk wow😭
Laverne Blaszczyk “privileged”. They work incredibly hard to go there. And they give out millions in scholarships
i’m in med school and i’ve been publicly humiliated in front of a row of specialists and hundreds of students in an auditorium because i couldn’t answer a question from a case I had to present. LMAO I’m fine.
Mad Person Oh wow are you okay now?
i got over it as soon as the next student was humiliated as well
Mad Person the sequence of humiliation
Mad Person I know Grey's anatomy isn't really accurate, but YOU'RE GIVING ME GEORGE VIBES.
I totally get it... It's so traumatizing.
In Med school, we had this anatomy exam where you had to walk to 16 different booths, and write down the name of two pointed out structures of body parts laying in a bowl of each booth. There would just be legs and arms and heads cut in half, laying around the exam room in bowls. I felt sick, mostly from being nervous, but also from feeling like I was in a saw movie. Didn't help that the exam room was in the basement with no windows - and the smell. You have two minutes at each booth before having to move forward in the line, and when you reach the last one, you're escorted to an auditorium, where you have to wait till 5 pm to be released, with no electronics whatsoever, so ensure no one can text the students who are entering after you, and spill the beans on what kind of structures are on the exam. We were 250 students who had to do that exam that day. When released, the correct answers was hung on the outside of the auditorium doors, and people rushed out like crazy. Before I could grasp my own situation and go check the answers, I saw people everywhere just balling their eyes out, learning they'd failed. It's particularly heartbreaking, because this class was one of the hardest at the university, and people hadn't seen sunlight, friends and family for 2 months, in preparation for it. University is hard man
Did you pass?
Yeah, I remember those!
Yeah Anatomy will hurt your feelings. We call those spot tests and usually get 30 seconds at each station.
I took that same exam. I failed big time. I studied all day long for weeks and totally failed that exam. I cried so much.
2 minutes?! Wow! Lucky you! We only had 30 seconds to identify 2 tied structures in one cadaver. My adrenaline was through the roof.
How to succeed in law school: 1. Don't go right after undergrad. Work a few years in the legal field and then decide if you still really want to go. If you still go, you'll be more mature and you'll have some background knowledge from your time working in the legal field. Might give you better opportunities for jobs later on as well. 2. Unless you want to work at a big firm in NYC, you don't need to go to a fancy school. Go to a modest state school so you don't incur six figures of debt. 3. Just do the reading and go to class. 4. Eat healthy and get enough sleep. Cannot stress this enough. Make the time for these two things. You'll be fine. Relax. It's not that bad if you just keep a level head.
@@nicecatholicgirl5257 Absolutely not! I started law school when I was 28. I had been married for six years already, had a job, a house, and a two year old. I chose to attend a lower ranked school that had a part-time option so I could continue working a little and spend time with my daughter.
Thank you for this. I am gonna be taking my LSAT in about a month so still not sure if I can really get in. Fingers crossed.
Hi there, what do you think about attending a law school in Georgia? Is it considered a "modest state" ?if not coukd you name a few please. I'd really appreciate it.

I'm in law school in South Africa, and it's exactly the same ! There is no fear greater then when your professor makes eye contact with you, and you know you have NO IDEA, what is going on. Tips we use in order to avoid being called : No bright clothing; no prints on clothes; no hats, glasses or any big accessories.
Alicia Cusack I like how your tips for survival include blending in with nature. Haha.
Omggg the clothes thingy is real lmao that's how I end up wearing black everyday
We have this one professor who is considered to be the hardest professor at our school, and he will grill you when it’s your turn to brief a case. No matter how times you get called, your heart skips a beat when you hear your name get called.

Hizrin Jamil PRE READ!!! I know I wasn’t asked, but I also go to law school, just please for the love of god, read around the topic you’ll be addressing the next day in seminars or if you’re in the UK tutorials/workshops. You can’t believe how much more easier it is when you read prior. Also, start your assignments as soon as you get them, you don’t have to complete them, but at least start so your work doesn’t become a mountain, so write a couple words down, make a draft? I'm in Nursing school and I have never cried so much in my life...
This is actually more similar to a conservatory than I was expecting. In my school, you’re with the same group of people for your first two semesters, then switch every new semester. Teachers would expect you to read the assigned things (scripts usually) even if it was in one night. And you’d have to be ready to answer EVERY POSSIBLE question about your character. Their job, why they do everything they do, every time they breathe, how they blink. You had a maximum of 5/3 absences per class (depending on the subject) before failing. If you missed one you’d have to take a review class. This is because our classes are more about performing and attending than written grades (although those happen, too, more or less depending on the class). Sometimes there are exceptions, such as if you have a doctors note about something like the flu or a mild concussion. If you were late and didn’t have a note, you weren’t allowed in the room. Certain rules varied teacher by teacher. I had one teacher who said unless it was an absolute emergency, you weren’t allowed to use the bathroom on any class less than two and a half hours. If you left, wait by the door and they may or may not let you back in. On top of this, you’d have to change at least once per day almost every day because of costumes, dance wear, and then some teachers who just had rules such as “nothing too busy,” because it would “distract” from your performance, or teachers who thought you should dress professionally (which is in no way mean spirited, but with only ten minutes between classes and having limited bathroom space and having to carry bags of props, costumes, and books up and down stairs and then city blocks because you weren’t allowed to use the elevator unless you were working, injured, or an alumni, it gets tiresome.) Despite all the 8AMs, 11Pms, stress, and tears, if you really love it, it’s worth it.
This video honestly made me feel so much better about myself, two weeks ago I burst into tears right after high school regionals for mock trial and hearing that this professional lawyer did something similar made my day.

Just graduated from law school in May. I’m currently studying for the bar exam. Honestly these girls are VERY accurate!!!!
I went through law school in India, an LLM in the us and did my equivalency in Canada. It is a stressful programme to go through and many of these emotions are true. But I think law school is tough because it prepares you for an extremely tough profession.
From which law School of India
it's meant to break you, lol. But when you screw up in school, you don't ruin someone's life, in real you could, and the judge may not be as forgetful as a professor, they can make life very difficult. So try your best in school, but know it's not the end all. In spite of that, I would never want to go back to school lol.
Study law they said It will be fun they said.
Ellie Clifford someone else already made this joke before lmao
Copy a comment they said No one will notice they say..
Ms Brownie I didn't realise
I don't think anybody said it would be fun😂
Nadine The Peen ha that's true
I’m from Texas and that discrimination is everywhere here it’s worse in school
This made me feel so much better tbh, made me realise people are going through the same bs as me
Ah, the good old socratic method... I'm in law school in Paris (I'm French) and thankfully the system is quite different :) I'm planning to do my LLM in London though so I'll get to know this traumatising socratic method soon enough haha.
How's law school different in France?
Lizy KIM law school in London isn’t that bad lol
Wow you TOTALLY look French 😒
Yeah we did that in this Co-Op I went to. Just 3 hour lectures with socratic method every lecture.
Lizy KIM holy moly in Australia the Socratic method is out of control
I'm in lawschool in Europe and I can confirm this isn't the CASE here. Hehe get it. Seriously though
Faruk G dude, i saw so many people cry at the exam times and when the grades come in...it is as they say (just without case law and getting picked out depends on the prof)
Faruk G Germany. Do you guys also have 9 semesters law or is it ground study’s and then choosing a specialty?
how does law school work there 🤨
in germany you can't go to court if you don't study law in the way that leads to the state examination. we also have law bachlors but they aren't "full lawers" as they can't work in court etc. for example american lawyers also aren't allowed to work here without having to do the full law study. in reverse german lawyers have to do a 2 year thing on top in the usa and can work there fully. it's a bit crazy. here it goes: 1. basic law study - 12 exams + 3 term papers (3 weeks each) -->you have to do it in max. 5 semesters (with also counts in requests for extension) or you are out (and can never study law again (it's forbidden) 2. main law study - 6 exams and 3 term papers (5 weeks each) -->no time limit anymore yay ah, i nearly forgot. you also need a 3 month internship + 1 law in foreign language exam + 1 key qualification exam. 3. speciality - 1 big exam + 1 spoken exam + term paper (5 weeks) -->counts 30% of the state examination (2 tries or you are out forever) 4. state examination --> 3 zivil law exam + 2 public law exams + 1 criminal law exam + 1 spoken exam (2 tries or you are out forever) BUT you still aren't finished. well the study kinda. but you still aren't a full lawyer. 5. two year legal clerkship - with diffrent stations etc. 6. the 2. state examination (2 tries or you are out forever) Then you are finished.
Capuletta wow that’s a lot. thank you for the information!
The editing is everything
I’m in my first year of law school and it’s exactly like that. Some professors will see that you don’t know and move on, but there are some that will ridicule you in front of the entire class if you don’t have the answer. And yes, people do cry during finals. I wish they had talked about the process you go through to try to get a summer internship. It’s cut throat. I would not recommend law school to anyone who doesn’t have a super thick skin.
med school next please. i need to know others are suffering just as much
Pharmacy students where ya at?!
veee yuniar getting ready to do 12 hours shifts for close to nothing
😂😂😂👏👏
Heya!! I was thinking just the same
