  • I think Mongkolpetch's corner gave some great advice after Round 1 (which I thought he lost) by asking him to continue with the leg kicks, more crosses to the body and body locking in the clinch

    • @بدر بدر No. The first round was close, but I agree with the commentators. 10-9 to the thai or 10-10. Second round was 10-8 due to the knockdown. That means that Mohmoudi needed at least a knockdown, probably a KO in the last round to win the fight. Obviously Mongkolpetch didn’t want to risk that, so he decided to clinch tie Mahmoudi up in the clinch. He also dumped Mahmoudi a couple of times, and he was never in trouble. Aggression alone don’t score in Muaythai, so the last round was also 10-9 Mongkolpetch or 10-10.

    • @بدر بدر I don’t talk emotional at all. I’m not a Mongkolpetch fan. I’m a certified judge and I talk from that viewpoint here. Elias tried to use his teep in the first round, but Mongkolpetch countered the majority of times. The counter low kicks visibly hurt Elias and stopped his attacks. Even though low kicks are not high scoring they do score when they affect the opponent. It also show that Mongkolpetch controlled the pace and action, that also scores very well in muay thai. Yes, Elias unsettled him with a punch and you can argue that it was a 10-10 round due to that. I don’t agree, but can accept that viewpoint. 2nd round is clearly 10-8 due to the knockdown. The last round is all about protecting the win for Mongkolpetch and chasing the KO for Elias. Elias kept getting tied up in the clinch, and never gave Mongkolpetch any real worries. Yes, Elias was the aggressive fighter in the last round, but that doesn’t score. Quite the opposite actually. In muay thai aggression at the end of a fight is seen as a clear sign that you are loosing.
