The only problem I did have, was seating the nuts into the PETG, it was a right pain to do, especially on the circuit board cover where the wire Loom goes in at the top! I’m just about to build an enclosure, and will be following your video on that too! Thanks dude!

  • Thanks for another great video. I have an original MK2 (not even a 2S) that I have procrastinated upgrading for too long and apparently have missed out on the official Prusa upgrade kit. So, how about doing another video on upgrading Mk2 to Mk2.5s, but this time using third party parts for those of us who missed out. The hardest item to find appears to be the 12V Mk52 heated bed. There are a couple on Amazon with and without magnets, but dozens of others on AliExpress. Some of the comments indicate compatibility issues between Prusa firmware and the supplied thermistor. That would be interesting to see you sort out. I think such a video would be well received.

    @alanoestacado@alanoestacado3 жыл бұрын
    • Those beds have been hard to get and expensive. I got mine from Prusa, but it was around $90.

    • @@ChrisRiley I found a Mk52 12V heated bed with magnets for $56 on eBay and have ordered it. (www.ebay.com/itm/254951801505). AliExpress has the same item from numerous vendors but with much longer lead times. Apparently there may also a version of the MK52 heated bed with connections for both 12v and 24v, but that was not well documented in the ads. So I was wary. Other parts needed for the upgrade that I found on Amazon: (1.) PINDA v2 probe: (www.amazon.com/P-I-N-D-Sensor-Leveling-MK2-5S-Printer/dp/B07ZVLJPDY/ the filament run out sensor from Amazon) (2.) filament run out sensor: (www.amazon.com/IR-Sensor-Filament-Magnets-Printer-Upgrade/dp/B07PYQWGK1) (3.) metal gears for the extruder: (www.amazon.com/BCZAMD-Printer-Accessories-Extruder-Extrusion/dp/B07SW8HCL4/) (4.) Noctua cooling fan: (www.amazon.com/Noctua-Cooling-Blades-Bearing-NF-A4x10/dp/B009NQLT0M/) I am still debating changing out the original steel rods and linear bearings with polished/hardened rods and upgraded linear bearing. Also replacing the cable tie mountings of the bed support with "U" bolts. These are also available on Amazon. What are your thoughts as to whats to be gained in doing this? I think a video of how to hook up and configure these 3rd party parts to effect the Prusa i3 mk2 ---> i3 mk2.5s upgrade would make for an interesting video and would be a great contribution to the community, especially for those of us who missed out on the official upgrade kit. I am sure there is going to be some compatibility issue to be resolved to make this a successful upgrade.

      @alanoestacado@alanoestacado3 жыл бұрын
    • @@alanoestacado That would make a good video, Prusa was trying to build a BOM for this, I need to get an update on that.

      @ChrisRiley@ChrisRiley3 жыл бұрын
  • A screwdriver is no hammer :-P The update to 2.5 is definitely worth it. Did it a longer time ago. Last Dezember I upgraded to the 2.5S but I wasn't that happy with it, because I find it more complicated to take the Hotend apart. If one doesn't want to print transparent filament, it's better to stay with the 2.5.

  • Hi Chris, could you make a video or give me a reference to study, explaining the difference between different types of bed leveling. like linear , mesh, bilinear. I made a bear mk3 clone with 32 bit board and looking for the most effective bed leveling technique. I am having first layer problems. it could be the fystec pinda 2 being inaccurate probing or measuring temperature. I just wana rule everything else out before I buy another one.

    @SinaShahsana@SinaShahsana3 жыл бұрын
    • There really isn't much of a difference. The biggest one would be UBL, but for your issue I would look at running some probe consistency tests. //#define Z_MIN_PROBE_REPEATABILITY_TEST

  • I just completed this upgrade and I am running into one issue that others have mentioned. Have you had any issues with thermal runaway on any prints due to the new setup of the print fan? Seems to be a common problem. Prusa chat mentioned to try and lower print fan speed, but others mention that lowers print quality. So most recommend a silicone sock. Have you had any thermal runaway issues? (hotend cooling too fast due to the new angle of the print fan once the print fan kicks on)

    • It's probably just a bit skewed. Make sure the frame is 100mm away from the back feet. Make sure the probe lines up in the center of the front leveling spots on the bed. Pay close attention to the one on the right.

      @servant74@servant742 жыл бұрын
