I'm an old mt biker from way back to the original; Specialized Stumpjumper in the early 80's and last week, I test rode a Ramblas and was so IMPRESSED, that I bought it. I hadn't been on a bike since last summer (so I'm wayy out of shape) and my 2nd ride on the Ramblas was 12 miles of technical single track trail and the bike handled like a dream. The geometry was spot on and the mid-drive motor left my legs feeling fresh at the end. Since it's a hardtail tho, my shoulders took the expected beating.
Thanks for the review! I tested out the Trek Marlin+ 6 with the Bosch Active Line Plus motor the other day and loved it. I then saw an ad for the Aventon Ramblas the next day! They have the exact same MSRP of about 2700 USD. The Ramblas has double the torque (50nm vs 100nm), and much longer distance capability. I would love to see a head to head comparison between the two since they are very similar and the price point is the same. The weight is only a few pounds more for the Ramblas, and for so much more distance and torque. it makes me think its a no brainer, but I am brand new to ebikes. For me personally, I am not doing anything crazy on a mountain trail. I'd like to take it there and ride without fear of ruining everything. I won't go fast and a dropper post isn't necessary for me. I will probably do 50% riding on pavement, 40% riding on dirt/natural trails fairly flat, and 10% on technical trails. This will be my first ebike. I am a big guy at over 6 feet tall and over 275 pounds. What are your initial thoughts?
Bosch = Anti-Right to Repair
I test rode this bike, I'm 5,10 and a heavy guy 280lbs. Trail was powerful enough and turbo was 👍 great. Used both modes on a fairly steep gravel driveway and turbo amazing. Def gonna buy this bike next week. I also looked at the marlin +6, same price but this ramblas gots power and battery bonus dropper post
Finally someone gets it! A capable hardtail mid-drive ebike with name brand components, good specs and torque sensing - at a reasonable price!
We agree!
Man this with a gates carbon drive ... and a lock out fork for big paved hills I got to do.
Nice video and thanks for the info! Let's see more wheelies and jumps. 😂
Take us to the secret trails and we can do wheelies and jumps together.
looks like a great Aventon addition! ...a few ?'s , room for larger tires, is it a torque or cadence sensor, since it's dual use are you able to unlock to 25 or 28 mph?
Definitely a great addition to the line up. It is a torque sensor in their new mid drive bike. You could put a little bigger tire on most likely. As of now for what we know, it is maxed out at 20mph to meet EU standards as well.
Great review!👍 Nice bike. I have to ask where you were riding in the PNW. That’s where I am and the terrain looks SO familiar. Thanks.🙏 😊
Thanks! The little trail network is south of Portland a bit. Can't give away all our secret testing grounds 😄
@@ElectricBikeJournal Thought so! That’s where I live. Thanks man. Maybe see you on the trail.(we are rebuilding Shelburg Falls hopefully open in late spring after being closed for 3.5 yrs.) Come check it out.👍😉
Awesome! Yea would be cool to check out those trails when they are ready. Thanks for the invite!
Hoping they release an e-gravel with this new mid drive motor 🙏
We do too! Would be a fun one.
Does the Ramblas have a throttle? Is it a class 1 or a class 2 e-bike?
No throttle on the Ramblas, it is a class 1 bike with pedal assist up to 20mph
Take a shot everytime he says nice, man if I was 10 to 15 years younger I’d be all over this bike but at 46 I will stick to my Level.2 or get an Aventure instead. Happy that Aventon finally gives us an eMTB though.
I'm 40 and I'm getting this bike fuck it
I'm 66 and not the hardcore mountain biker that I used to be in the 90s. But riding the Ramblas makes me feel 30 years younger and willing to take on hills that I have avoided for too many years now
With a mid drive motor, will the chain handle the torque.
Yes, the chain/torque shouldn’t be an issue.
@@ElectricBikeJournal Other mid drive makers have had that problem! (((👍)))
I was all set on Aventon until I talked to the two shops who USED to sell them in my area. They both quit after having way too many issues with the brand.
That’s too bad. We haven’t had any bad experience with any of the bikes we’ve ridden from Aventon.
Yeah, reading some of the reviews on the Aventon page, it looked like they had a lot of issues, especially their customer service. By the look of newer reviews, it appear that Avneton made some positive changes. On the flip side is that Trek and Specialized are having some issues
Looks like a direct competitor to the marlin + but has a lot better specs.
That is a bike they were looking to compete directly with. We have one coming in for review, and we will be comparing them to each other and a few others. Stay tuned!
@@ElectricBikeJournalThat is exactly what i am looking for! Comparison between the marlin+ and the Ramblas. What ETA on that review? days, weeks, months? Thanks!
@crocsrus3118 waiting on the marlin to arrive, so probably a month or two out.
@@ElectricBikeJournalAwesome thanks for the reply!😀
too expensive here in canada at 4k
Dude it sounds like you are reading a script from cue cards. Very wooden. Needs work. Thanks for the review, fantastic bike.
