  • This scene nails everything this movie is trying to do so perfectly. Putting this comedic workshop number against the emotionally tense scene that inspired it clashes shockingly well. Hearing them seriously fight with each other while this "country ho down" sounding number is vamping honestly makes the scene hit harder. The whole movie really does such a good job making comedic scenes have emotionally dramatic undertones.

    • I know. It's something where first I was laughing a bit at the idea of the "3rd act breakup" cliché being given its own musical number, but then the more it goes on, the more the actual emotional weight of the break-up and divide between Jon and Susan hit. Credit to not only Andrew and Vanessa, but Alexandra Shipp as Susan and Lin-Manuel's directing...

  • Im going to rant, so. The little things that I noticed such as in 2:27 she starts to tap on his leg, the same exact motion that happens when Susan confronts Jonathan about making their intimate moment into a song. BRILLIANT love that little detail continuing onto making this song into a "comedic" twist of what happened when Susan decided enough was enough. There is more believe me but I swear Andrew Garfield is an amazing actor, I barely cry for films but this one got to me. Whether it was because of how sleep deprived I was I don't know but either way this is one of the top films now. Thank you for your time.
