  • There are games that are just symbolic in sports history. This is absolutely one of them. Indy and Manning were never going to win a Super Bowl until they scaled Mt. Patriots. After all the disappointments, the tide seemed to turn with that big MNF win in 2005 but they flamed out in the playoffs against Pittsburgh. Then they beat them again to start this season 8-0, but then struggled like crazy the second half of the year. So having this game at home, after New England ironically did them a major solid upsetting that great Chargers team in San Diego...only to fall behind 21-3, it was like "there they go again". Except...this team, maybe not as talented as the 04 or 05 teams but more resilient, finally healthy (Bob Sanders) and having Adam Vinatieri...finally made the plays and got the breaks that had seemingly always gone Brady and Belichick's way. Other than the Lakers/Spurs Game 5 where Robert Horry's dagger 3 went in and popped back out in 2003, this was the most symbolic game I've ever watched where the 'gods' were finally on the other team's side. The recovered fumble for a TD, Reggie Wayne's near disaster after the catch on the GW drive...the Colts FINALLY got the breaks to break through.

He dominated Kelly Gregg, Halotti Ngata and even Vince Wilfork. One of the best players I have ever seen. At 6'2 303 lbs he used his lack of height to his advantage. • You got the '81 or '88 AFC Championship in the pipeline? Could go for some Freezer Bowl highlights or watch how Marv Levy got the idea to steal Cincy's no huddle scheme in '88. This is dope though. I remember watching the 06 AFCC in my dorm room. I had gotten my own dorm with a personal bathroom that semester. It was really nice. Missed the hell out of that place. I had it made and didn't appreciate it enough. That's what I remember about this game, lol.

This season, 06, there was a great Sunday night game in New England that the Colts won, which gave them the tiebreaker for playoff seeding. Nowadays, a Colts/Patriots game is nothing more than a 1pm game with a 3rd string announce team

Even when they sort of got their revenge on the colts in 2007 regular season for coming back from 10 in the 4th quarter, it just did not make up for the loss. Any devasting loss you suffer like this you have to win the super bowl

  • This was the season I lost faith in Belichick as GM, but cemented my belief in Brady's greatness. Brady carried this team on his back all the way to the AFC Championship and almost won it with no wide receivers. There was no Wes Welker, no Julian Edleman, no Moss, no Gronk. Brady's #1 receiver in 2006 was Reche Caldwell, a dude that was the #4 receiver for four years in San Diego with Drew Brees. He came to New England as a cast-off in 2006 where he became Brady's #1, because there was literally no one else. Caldwell wouldn't even have made the Colts roster and was out of football a year later. And Brady still almost won. The Patriots had no business being 12-4 that year, but Brady was just that good. No QB in NFL history did more with less around him than Tom Brady.
