Bionic Legs for Running with Car's Speed (Must Watch)
fastest man in the world
Usain Bolt
Currently the answer is Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt, he's also the fastest man in history with a world record time of 9.58 seconds. The fastest woman is history is Florence Griffith-Joyner with a world record time of 10.49.
Bionic boots let you run as fast as a CAR: Springy shoes mimic ostrich's gait to let you travel at up to 25 miles per hour Prototype developed by San Francisco-based inventor, Keahi Seymour Shoes have springs on the back that imitate Achilles tendon of an ostrich The springs provides the wearer with more down force when running
With their wide, springy gait, ostriches can reach speeds of 40mph (70 km/h), covering up to 16ft (5 metres) in a single stride.
fastest man in the world
As a child, Keahi Seymour was fascinated by what appeared to be the effortless speed and agility of these creatures, making them the fastest running birds on the planet.
Now the San Francisco-based inventor has created a prototype gadget that he claims will allow humans to experience what it’s like to reach these incredible speeds.
Dubbed the ‘Bionic Boot’, the shoes have springs on the back designed to imitate the Achilles tendon of an ostrich or kangaroo, giving the wearer more down force when running.
Mr Seymour has been working on the boots for several years, and has already produced dozens of prototypes.
fastest man in the world
Last month, he took his Bionic Boots to the Maker Faire in New York to demonstrate its capabilities.
In its current form, the device can reach speeds of up to 25 mph (40 km/h) - or the same speed as a slow-moving car.
According to PopSci, Mr Seymour says won’t rest until he can go faster and outrun some of Earth’s fastest land animals.
And he isn’t the first to attempt the gait of an ostrich or kangaroo. For instance the £166 ($265) bouncing boots claims to turn anyone into a human kangaroo.
The ‘Kangoo Jumps’ are fastened like roller blades or ski boots, with quick-release buckles.
Once they’re on, you need to do a little march on the spot to get yourself used to the sensation, which feels rather like jogging on a trampoline.
Featuring a spring-loaded sole, the mini-trampolines were initially invented to help people recover from sports injuries by taking away the impact of running on their joints.
But now they’re being sold as a way of enjoying all the benefits of a tough gym or aerobics workout.

  • So uh... as a lifelong runner there are a ton of things wrong with this. Immediately you can see how unnatural this forces your stride to be, it looks like he is driving his knees outward instead of forward which is a big waste of energy, will cause your core to rotate, not great for your hips over prolonged periods. Secondly, if he paid any damn attention to the Ostrich and really any fast animal for that matter, he'd actually see they spring off their fore foot. The heel makes contact, but force is shifted to the fore foot as the animal drives forward, and you can see that it is still powering from there as the toes splay out on the back portion of the strong. His whack contraption utilizes none of that, and doubles down on a mechanically inefficient heel stride. This looked painful overall, his knee is practically hyper extending on every step. This doesn't even take into account that by using this, you are now not using all your body mechanics and musculature in proper conjunction. His feet and ankles aren't receiving the same conditioning they normally would from running, and those need to develop in tandem with the rest of your muscles to have a healthy correct stride. In the end he is really just short changing himself because he didn't actually study body mechanics enough and created a heel stride machine.

    • Where as someone might not have the same power as others the boots themselves if used by the correct output of strength and balance could be used to reach higher speeds the way he is running is awkward but if he were to make the boots fit the more natural aspect of the human limbs instead of focusing on mainly recreating things seen in other animals he could very well have a bionic attachment that would revolutionize running simply creating stored energy to be used the better idea might be to make the foot holding place at the back of the boot making the center of balance uneven so you would have to lean forward to run

  • What these need is to include the foot and ankle movement and the power from the calf. Normally you use your foot, with power from the calf to push yourself further on every step, which is completely replaced by these boots. Foot, ankle and calf don't seem to be used at all in his boots, since they are attached stiff to the lower leg/foot. If he would include the natural foot/calf movement and enhance this power with the one from his boots, he could probably double the length of each stride and also gain a lot more control.

    @larnregis@larnregis7 жыл бұрын
    • Larn Regis it also seems like it would have the potential to cause injury over time because of the lack of inclusion of the foot and calf. when he's running you can see his posture is off.

      @TrinidadJamesWoods@TrinidadJamesWoods7 жыл бұрын
    • I think that's because the foot part is not forward like the balls of the feet. It's like he's running on his heels.

      @wadegruber2119@wadegruber21197 жыл бұрын
    • Larn Regis well I bet he thought that too, but you find when the body is going that fast there needs to be real support for the ankles and feet due to the pressure on the joints. I only say this because when I would skate behind a motorcycle I needed serious knee support, plus I wore military high top boots so my legs could take it.
