#Gorilla #Shabani #Kiyomasa
Higashiyama Zoo on April 25, 2024.
A few days have passed since Shabani and Kiyomasa had a fight.
Today, Shabani and Kiyomasa made up and had fun playing with each other.
It was very hilarious to see Shabani checking out Kiyomasa's buttocks.
The other gorillas must be relieved that Shabani and Kiyomasa have made up.
It was a good day.

  • shabani was quite "vocal" and active today. its nice to see him express himself with the drumming and more interestingly, banging on the zoo doors, glass, etc. something he doesnt do all that often it seems. nice to see him give kiyo a helping hand (things did get a bit "cheeky" there for a second lol)🤣

  • It seems like Kyomasa was totally submitting to his dad - I've seen Gentaro bend over like that after a spat and to me it looks like he is saying you definitely are the boss. But Shabani seemed to me to still be asserting he is the boss and don't forget it with Kyo, but I could be wrong. When they are totally peaceful they seem more relaxed. Looks like they were hungry for their breakfast and lunch today. Thanks for the video! 🙂

  • Definitely a mighty but patient animal. We could learn a thing or two from the shabani group. A lot of people label our cousins as monsters or beasts. Those "beasts" are closer to us than you might believe.

    • @@--AE-- I don't think Batman (who laughs) meant that we are literally related by blood or that they were our ancestors. It's just that their dna is remarkably around 98% (give or take) the same as ours. That's why they are often referred to as our long lost 'cousins' by several people, especially specialists. That's where I first saw the term.

    • Awww! Maybe you can go right before it opens? If I know a place may be crowded on a weekend, I usually will leave an hour or 2 before it opens. (like I used to do at Disneyland on a weekend for example) Even though I know waking up super early on a weekend isn't fun, trust me. 🤭 Annie would be soooooo excited though! I can't imagine how much she misses him. Hope you both can make it!❤

    • there's a pool of 'fresh' water outside near the ledge leading to the lower area of the enclosure, and there are a couple of implements that pump out water in the inside areas of the exhibit. i remember asking about this once and was told by multiple people that they get plenty of water from the vegetables that they eat. i personally find that hard to believe

    • Sorry, I disagree…when zoos were bad ( I’m 70), that’s something to discuss historically. For everyone worried about animals in zoos..remember for most in captivity, there is nowhere safe to release them. They are in a breeding program as natural as humans can achieve, which I admit, depending on the country, isn’t always natural or beneficial to the troop. But instead of complaining about animals IN captivity, spend your energy fixing the poaching and habitat loss in the native areas this animal would and should be thriving in. The rangers do what they can to protect them but the demand for gorilla hands and heads (folk magic) and their bushmeat is really bad. It’s sickening. They are diminishing rapidly in the wild. Mostly due to humans. Surprise! The cousin to these gorillas are the mountain gorillas. There are two groups, totaling 1,063 individuals. Babies are born every four to five years because nature set up the mother to care for the baby until about 4 years old. So with that reproduction rate, it’s not looking good for the mountain gorillas. And they have to have a mountain habitat in Africa, so we can’t save their species like we can with lowland gorillas, like D’Jeeco’s family, or Shabani’s family, or Momotaro’s family. I understand your passion. Perhaps think about what is critical? The poaching and destruction of their habitat is something you can act on. Be active, research the truth, help support the rangers who try to keep gorillas from being killed for their heads and hands, or infants, and also their habitat from being destroyed by humans in Africa, there’s opportunities there! Help there if you love gorillas or any endangered Animals. Yes, with a capital A. ☮️💜🦍
