Ray came to Washington from his native Bronx in the early Sixties as an Army infantry/intelligence officer and then served as a CIA analyst for 27 years, from the administration of John F. Kennedy to that of George H. W. Bush. Ray’s duties included chairing National Intelligence Estimates and preparing the President’s Daily Brief, which he briefed one-on-one to President Ronald Reagan’s five most senior national security advisers from 1981 to 1985.

    • If I accepted that BS I'd insist US continue it's taking over a country, holding it hostage until it is "democratic and Liberal like us" and then return it, rarely. Sixties decolonization of Africa never really materialized economically for African nations. Look at Macron being emphatically asked to get very f'n lost. The gringo segregated school that I attended was intellectually deficient. It could be no different, existing primarily to keep us as CHEAP LABOR and little else, stereotypes and aggressive media debasement of my culture included. Don't even TRY to convince me that destructive US Manifest Destiny has shrunk and disappeared. Don't forget the extra mean racist white cops thrown in our Chicano lives. Stop what appears like exceptional lying to your "exceptional" selves, get over your hubris, it's less infectious every day. The US is now realizing a very healthy and deserved global hatred.

Switzerland reported on an aggressive action by China against Taiwan, sending ships and planed close to the island and breaching the "lines" agreed to respect a "sovereign Taiwan". Only at the end of the article did they mention that a US Destroyer had sailed in the strait between the Mainland and Taiwan to "maintain freedom of navigation". Why haven't Russia and China kicked out their Central Banks?

BUT listen to him say "I was wrong" it takes an American 15 minutes to explain why he was wrong but it was really because of 10 reasons. I have heard Putin tell the world he was wrong for trusting in "the west" just like that. He did not try to spend 20 minutes explaining. He just said it, I was wrong. Americans really truly believe they (we) are better than everyone so IF we are wrong it is only because of x y z ....

  • McGovern’s modesty suits him well. Obviously, he knows what a fact is and when he assesses Putin and other Russian public personalities, his remarks ring fair and true without any trace of bias or triumphalism. In fact, he seems bemused by the intellectual calibre of US officials and their apparently poor internal communication. He does not rejoice in the tribulations of the West but rather seeks to understand the problem and propose ways of dealing with the inevitable blowback.

    • When your government gets money from US to be its ally it makes you a colony . Look at African countries that heavily depended on France and USA, former government was getting money, military equipment from USA , now they kicked France and USA out which made them free in taking their own political path and decisions.

  • Do you know anything about electric vehicles? Evidently not. Im an electrical engineer to this is a well informed professional opinion. Electric vehicles are the dumbest idea to come along in a long time for axlong host of reasons. Not only is the concept fatally flawed in many ways but they are extremely dangerous. They have a tendency to burst into flames without warning for any number of reason and it is next to impossible to extinguish the fire. I advise never get in one. If you are in one and it catches fire get out immediately because when the electrical system fails you won't be able to unlock the doors to get out. A minor fender bender means the car is a total loss because of potential damage to the battery pack. They have no resale value. When the batteries need replacement it will cost $8000 to $20,000 assuming the type for your car is still available. Insutance companies will charge sky high premiums if they will insure them at all. Manufacturing them alone produces more CO2 than they will potentially save which is zero in countries that generate electricity by burning fossil fuel. If everyone had electric cars they'd overload the power grid causing frequent blavkouts. Just a dumb dumb dumb idea grabbed on to by politicians and environmental alarmists who have no technical knowledge.

    • @@user-dj6hu9gq4t You don't know a damned thing about electric cars. Being an electrical engineer I know just about everything about them. They are not green, especially in China where they burn coal for fuel to generate electricity, they are unsafe, and the insurance on them will be through the roof as a minor fender bender that would cost a few hundred dollars to repair in a gasoline care will be a total loss of the car if the battery pack is even slightly damaged. Lithium ion batteries have a tendency to self combust and the fires cannot be extinguished. Their range is limited, the charging stations are few and far between, and the power grid could not handle tens of millions of electric cars charging at the same time overnight. What's more like everything else China makes it's tofu dregs quality. They are garbage.
