Jersey Joe Walcott defends the heavyweight championship of the world against 'The Brockton Blockbuster', Rocky Marciano. This was Walcott's second defense of the title. Because of his advanced age he was the underdog, but was still far ahead before the KO. There would therefore be a rematch the following year.

The 1950s were great era for pure athletic athletic endeavors no no steroids no human growth hormone just just pure ability based on your stature. Rocky Marciano train 6 months next month and ran 10 miles A-day in army boots you hit a 300 pound bag for hours. Fighters who fought him we're often damaged and I never fought again. It's easy to diss him now But he took on all comers all comers in the early 19 fiftiearly 1950s and never lost a fight. Champions dig down deep when they're losing to become winners and rocky had that characteristic in spades
What a good fight this was. People forget how good Walcott was. Its a shame he didn't get a title shot earlier in his career. Marciano's endurance and stamina was non pareil.
