Are shotguns in PUBG just bad, or are we just using them wrong? This video breaks down the inner workings of shotguns in this game so that you can use them to their fullest potential, or at the very least so you know exactly what makes them so inconsistent.
UPDATE: Shotguns now do more damage to limbs, the shot delay has been removed, and the overall damage increased slightly, which means that shotguns are quite better now! Limb penetration is now active but does NOT affect shotguns.

Not really, most shotguns have a maximum effective range of 50 yards. I wouldn't even really trust any of mine past 30-40 yards. However, they are the best thing between that 30-50 yard range.

I always carry a shotgun it's really helpful in confined spaces like when I'm looting a house and another player just comes in, i take my shotgun and kill em with one hit. It helped me win a couple of matches soooo yeah I'm planning on using it forever

To me. Shotgun are good at the start of the game when you just lamded in a place where there are player. They are just running everywhere. You can then get a shotgun and kill someone in 1-5 shot. But later in the game it become useless as everyone are running to the zone or continue looting up. They are most likely to be a bit far so it become really useless.

I use the S1897 Shotgun with Choke many times in top 10, yeah the pellet spread isnt affected by your crosshair, but you should still hold the aim button when shooting at people. I

you can do silence reload on the pump action shotgun how? simple when you going to reload the shotgun, after the first bullet go into freelook and then click the left mouse button while freelooking by doing this your character going to pump the shotgun but the remaining ammo gonna go in without any sound. yes the first ammo is not silence but the remaining four ammo is silence reload. btw sorry for my bad english Edit: the glitch has been patch

I use shotgun very often mostly the double barrel , in close range &and two rapid shots and he's dead. And yes people can see me caring a shotgun in my back in top ten or top five. I use it as a secondary weapon with a AKM/SCAR-L as primary and also often a UMP9 orUMP45. (By the way I only play in PUBG mobile not in PC.
That’s why the sawed off is so useful, you can break doors and blow up cars easily while being able to carry a good load out, sense the sawed off is a pistol

I think it actually depends on the situation. If you are in a gunfight head on the player with more suppressive fire will always win. But if the enemy is not aware and is at close range it is an effective weapon. The point is it depends.

I always carry a shotgun when I play PUBG. I’ve learned to make the most of it. It’s possible to play well with a shotgun, it just takes practice. I carry a shotgun for close range combat. Preferably the S12K. As for medium to long range, I’ll use either a SCAR-L or an AKM with a 4x scope. I’ve always enjoyed using shotguns. With the proper technique, they can get you some easy kills and win matches for you. Good luck all.
Unfortunately, while shotguns are far and away one of the best firearms for the most purposes and ranges irl, videogames refuse to allow them to be so. Now, this could be coming from a balance standpoint, as having a definite "Best Gun" could completely kill build diversity. But that isn't the issue, as these games have no issue with making some guns strictly better than it's contenders, usually an assault or burst rifle takes that spot. I think it comes from a lack of understanding from how guns even work in the real world. But I don't blame the devs for that. Why would I expect a programmer or software engineer who spends 100 hours a week making code function to know the intricacies and functionalities of countless different firearms when they barely even have time to sleep or eat? It's just an unfortunate problem that many guns have, but shotguns in particular always end up either overpowered or completely useless in games because of this problem. But that's just my two cents, almost 4 years later. Have a lovely day, anyone reading this!

I always have a shotgun or an SMG as my backup. I prefer to use the pump or the DBS. On solo i nearly one the game just by using the pump action. I got 8 kills, 5 with the pump

I always have 2 guns. 1: an assault rifle or SMG something with rapid or burst fire for long distance or outside. 2: shotgun for power and looting buildings. A shotgun is a really valuable weapon and I’ve never won a game without one. (I have 8 wins and have been playing for less than a month)
Exactly! Shotgun with a choke is a beast. Whenever I can, I take AR/SR and shotgun. Enemy at 30m or more? AR with 4x / 8x scope no problem. Enemy at 15m - 30m? sneak, wait... Enemy up to 15m? you know what to do :D

"Bad". Shotguns are still the best at surprise one shotting indoors. You just need good aim and be aiming down the sights. Of course, that makes you a camping piece of shit, but the pump shotgun has a purpose :P
The shotgun is really good though, To be honest. It can do some range within and only needing some IQ to use it properly. We mostly use shotguns and pistols for our matches and the shotguns work good, For real. The shotgun have good range. So yeah, It's really a good weapon, Both SR shotguns are cool and even the sawed off, Those shotgun bring a punch and are strong.
