The BIGGEST CAT Dealer Down Under | Hastings Deering

2024 ж. 21 Мам.
154 644 Рет қаралды

In this episode, we went into the heart of Australia's Bowen Basin, where coal is king, and the machines that extract it are nothing short of colossal.
We were at Hastings Deering, the largest Caterpillar dealer in Australia, to get a firsthand look at the behemoths that make the mining around the area possible.
From the shops that build and care for the machines to the meticulous process of assembling them, Hasting's pulled back the curtain on what it takes to keep the coal flowing down under.
Stay dirty, everybody!

  • When it comes to tracks, are they doing an entire machines worth of tracks (two sides) in 30 hours, or one side in 30 hours? And are they disassembling the track chain completely or are they rebuilding with a brand new chain and hardware? I've never worked on something as big as a D11, but I've torn apart and rebuilt two sides of a Hitachi 1200-6 (M33 bolt) in ~30 hours total which was a massive job compared to the usual tracks that come across my bench.

    @teabola@teabola9 ай бұрын
    • It would be 30 hours a chain. The chains get totally stripped, inspected, repaired and rebuilt, Old grouser cut off and new grouser welded onto each grouser plate . (if they are reusable). Probably sounds like a lot of hours but there is a fair few links in a chain and a bit of a process vacuum testing and filling each pin with oil. Boring repetitive work, but cool to do once.

      @nickhutt6264@nickhutt62647 ай бұрын
    • It depends on the customer requirements and what's being replaced or rebuilt but typically for a full rebuild I would say 30 hours per track. Obviously you can do both tracks at the same time though. If you're just replacing the track shoes and hardware it can be done in less than 6 hours.

You might like to check the financial reviews for Hastings Deering and for Westrac to see if your claim of visiting the 'biggest' Cat dealer DowNunda is 'ackshully 'kee-wrecked' - or you might not, depending on your point of view. Last 'figgers' I saw had Westrac a 'mere' $300 million ahead of Hastings Deering. Other than that, a good video. Thank you. Just my 0.02. You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.
