Granted, he didn't heed her advice and after losing his best friend, Polites, he tried to be less bloodthirsty, and was largely emotional about it, but she kinda went from 0 to "You're a hopeless cause" on that one.

    • @GJWarrant I think Athena knew how big of an f-up Odysseus did. Her and Poseidon always have some amount of beef between them and that was Poseidon's son that Odysseus blinded. Athena loudly disowning Odysseus for not fallowing her order could have been not an act of rage but her trying to protect him from Poseidon's wrath. Which would you be more pissed off at the hitman or the one that hired him? Athena could have been trying to take the blame as the employer in that moment so Poseidon would direct his anger at her and leave Odysseus alone.

You can see it in how she looks when she screams it at him the first time, she yells it and then pauses to see if he is going to react, and screams it again when he doesn't the first time. I really hope that Athena later wakes up to realize that she enjoyed hisnfriendship.and that there is a song of her missing her friendship with Odysseus. I suspect that is why she forms a friendship with Telemachus later.

  • I understand all of Odysseus' actions in every sing aside from Remember Them. Feels like it was so stupid to stab him in the eye, announce his presence, call out his name and then spare the cyclops. I know hes trying to live by Polites' words but.... Athena is right that cyclops will come back to haunt him. Athena isnt called the goddess of wisdom for no reason

    @DameBlackwell@DameBlackwellАй бұрын
    • It was actually smart to stab him in the eye because in the Greek myth, Polyphemus has a giant boulder blocking the exit as a door thst only he could move. Killing the Cyclops in his sleep would only trap them in the cave with a dwindling food supply. Blinding him allows the Cyclops to still open the door so they could escape. Lol, the rest was definitely a bad move and completely pride and emotion talking.

Granted, the animatics are beautiful and well done, and they really show an amazing visual to the songs, but that song where Odysseus and Telemachus are reunited and the creator is singing in the face cam, and you literally see this man shedding a tear for his work, is absolutely touching and I love that it is included in this. You can see the emotions in his face and that he is absolutely in the headspace of Odysseus when he sings that song. This while thing is well done, animatics and all.

  • This musicsl deserves to kick 'Hamilton's ass. This is so much more philosophically thoughtful in its theme, 'Ruthlessness is mercy upon ourselves.' ; or, to quote Adam Smith, 'Mercy for the guilty is cruelty to the innocent.' Purely from a writer's standpoint, Jorge understands a universal truism in story telling, the most compelling weakness in a hero, who has a lesson and an arch, is their greatest strength; bc a vice is so difficult to reconcile when it's inimitable to our chiefest virtue, which isnt inherently moral. Virtue just means "good quality". In 'Avatar' what is Prince Zuko's greatest virtue? His iron will; its also his greatest weakness, bc iron is infamously ridgid. It breaks where steel bends. Steel is iron put into the fire, then beaten, tested, and tempered. Likewise, Odysseus' genius is rooted in his compassion; he would rather think first, and fight last. This is classic sun tzu, 'The greatest fight is the one that's never fought.' The halmark of great strategy is the circumvention of needless violence. This reticence towards bloodshed is a virtue in Odysseus, bc it's what made him a brilliant tactician: and it's also his crippling weakness. Because if you cant bring yourself fight to survive, as a man, no one deserves to die for your cowardice, and, yes: that is cowardice. Odysseus is punished, his men punished, for that cowardice. Until he finally realizes that, to borrow from Billy the Bard, he must "be cruel in order to be kind; thus bad begins, and worse is left behind." Top marks, Jorge, for these meditations on stoicism in, of all things, a story featuring a GREEK hero.

I feel because Odysseus sings in every song, it would be way too difficult for any one to sustain their voice and energy, not to mention stuff like the storms and stuff like Posiedon killing nearly all the men. And some songs don't have a clear connection with each other. But I guess the challenge is half the fun.
