  • Very nice flight. You seem to be doing very well in your transition from the Cirrus 20 to the 22. It appears that Cirrus has made some enhancements to the flight panel which should make your job a little easier. Great job with the ILS to landing. Radio communication was excellent! I expect to see you in the Vision Jet in a few years. I have watched videos and it is an exceptional single pilot airplane!

  • Great IFR approach into Berne and very well done video! It's such a shame you didn't see almost anything of the Alps this time, but that's how the weather in the northern Alps often looks like. The advantage of the airport is the fact, that it is outside of the higher mountains, which makes conditions a lot easier.

A pity when these guys flew into Bern the weather was not so good as you will know Switzerland often gets clear blue skies. My most memorable time was spending the day at Kleine Scheidegg relaxing outside a restaurant watching climbers on the Eiger! You live in a very beautiful country.

  • I've heard minimums a lot. What does it mean please. Always enjoy your videos.

    @paulwhitear4983@paulwhitear49834 жыл бұрын
    • @Paul Whitear in poor weather, depending on the combination of airport and the equipment in your aircraft, there is a minimum altitude below which you are not allowed to descend unless you can see the runway. The combination of airport and equipment gives our pilots a minimum of 2170 feet. That means if they descend to 2170 feet for landing and still can’t see the runway because of weather, they’re not allowed to descend any further. They have to abort the landing and either wait for the weather to improve or go land somewhere else. That “somewhere else” is called the “alternate,” and the pilot would have chosen his alternate before he even takes off so that there is no planning necessary if he discovers he can’t land at his destination. The plans are already made and he just executes them. 2170 Is very high for a minimum, generally. We are in mountainous country here, and we see at 36:00 that an altitude of 2170 is just a few hundred feet above the ground. Often the cockpit instrumentation will call out “minimum” at that altitude as a reminder. Pilots sometimes call it “decision height.” At 22:05 our pilots here program the computer to make this callout at the correct altitude. The computer dutifully makes the callout at 35:54. Between those two times, at 34:52, they call “runway in sight,” to establish explicitly that the criterion for continuing the landing has been met and the descent can continue. All of this applies only to flying in poor weather. There’s a whole other set of rules for clear weather. Google IFR vs. VFR for more info.
