  • Firstly I feel sorry for the farmer and his family to be put through this. You can see the stress it’s causing him and they wonder why there is a high rate of suicide in the farming community. How many animals are slaughtered a year, what’s the amount paid out by the government every year? All because some vegans want to save the badgers. What about saving the farmers lives and the cattle or do they not count? Support your local farmers before they are all gone

  • The worst part of all this is the autopsy afterwards and being told the blood test was wrong and the animals were clear. I grew up in dairy farming and this is sickening to see animals dying for no reason.

    • Exactly I lost rare breed goats all the tests were inconclusive. It broke me and the attitude of the defra vet that came to destroy them was awful no compassion at all , rude and had an attitude about her . Better testing needed , vaccines and defiantly better trained defra vets .

    • While you're obsessively blaming it on badgers, the real reason is still out there. Areas in England that have wiped out badgers have seen no change in TB at all. You need to read sources that are not just pro cull folks. You put everything into the hope badgers are to blame but they are not. Look at Scotland, there are a record number of badgers here, i know of at least 100 setts in my local area but TB cases are very, very low if at all. Sometimes i feel farmers hatred for badgers cloud their judgement on a lot of this. Why not just look to Scotland?

  • More forestry, more deer, more TB. Where I live on the kildare/wicklow county boundary in Ireland the area is a TB black spot, yet badgers aren't all that common, what has happened jn recent years though is that there's been a lot of new forestry plantations set up, this has led to an explosion in the deer population, which coincides with increased incidents of herds going down with TB, I have spoken to several deer hunters who have said they regularly bag deer that are infected with TB.

Let's not forget those dodgey twats in Wales that were duplicating cattle and swapping ear tags! You don't see any of these farmers kicking off about them! Let's just blame a badger and when they are all gone and the Lesions are still being found, who will they blame then? It will be bloody rabbits or hedgehogs next....
