  • Gentlemen, I am enjoying watching you very much, from 6000 miles away in Bangkok. I took early retirement & spent my time restoring old motorcycles before moving to Thailand. I feel sure that you guys are knowledgeable enough to cope with bleeding brakes but if my tip helps one of your viewers it will be worthwhile. I restored a Ducati but I couldn’t get a decent brake pressure, feel on the front brakes, twin hydraulic discs. At the MOT station, the tester said he would pass the bike but was also concerned about the feel of the front brakes. He told me to top up the master cylinder, get some strong ty-wraps (zip-ties) & apply the brake, using the ty-wraps to hold the brake lever in the on position. Leave it overnight & any air in the system would make it’s way into the master cylinder reservoir. The next morning I cut the ty-wraps off & the feel was perfect. I used the same system on my Reliant Scimitar, when fitting a new clutch slave cylinder but used a length of wood against the front of the seat to hold the clutch pedal down overnight - perfect. If this helps anyone I will be delighted. 🙏

  • I grew up in a town called Farnham in England The Abbott's work sheds were no longer in use but they were at the bottom of our council estate. We got the bus to "Abbott's " throughout the 70s and 80s.

  • My first car was a 67 Spitfire 4 MK 2 . Loved it Ran TR250, TR6 GT6+, MGB , TVR 290 Currently a 83 Lotus Esprit and a 68 MGBGT project car. Its in the blood.

  • What memories! My first sportscar was a '77 Spitfire, same colour too. It gave years of cheap and reliable fun - until a drunken Doctor ripped the front off when he drove into it Christmas eve '83. But the insurance payment gave me enough of a deposit for our next Sunday car, a Triumph TR8 drophead! 'Every cloud' and all that!

  • Those welds leave something to be desired. To top it off it was never really smoothed and the holes filled, it usually takes two passes to get a consistent weld that penetrates well. I guess for a flipper project, it's was good enough.

  • I could watch Allen Millyard for hours on end, and I can say that without exaggeration, because I have! The guy is pure genius. But this whole "Last of the Summer Wine does Wheeler Dealers" thing, just doesn't do anything for me. Unfortunately, a bit like Tommy Cooper's painting and his violin they got it the wrong way round. They took the humour from Wheeler Dealers and the restoration skills of Summer Wine. Millyard must be wondering "what the hell am I doing here?"
