Just a chill video where Wib shows off his Lamenters.
Forgot to mention that everything you see here came to about 3,000 points in 9th edition. Not sure how much it'd come to in 10th, should probably work that out.

Wib half-apologetically explaining his hobby interests is pure Lamenters vibes
The vibe and way he talks gives me "friend finally got a chance to explain their hyperfixation" And I am happy to sit here and hear him out.
Regarding the stuff written everywhere, it would be very apropriate for the lamenting bois to have stuff like *"Why us?" "Please no more" "Forgive us" "We're sorry"* or *":'("* written everywhere, which would definetly make them very seperate from the angry marines
Maybe with some actual tears streaming from their eyes, painted on their helmets. Not individual teardrops, that would be madness. Too small. But little lines of blue trailing down.
Penance, repent, redemption, redeem us, By His Grace. So many very 40k Cult Guilt type slogans are good
This is a horrible idea. They are tragic, not pathethic.
"We deserve this" feels on brand
@@Bluecho4 Prison tattoo style
I respect anyone with the patience to paint Lamenters, your commitment to your theme makes this double impressive. Thank you for the tour round your army.
Lovely models. I do like the lore behind the Lamenters. Random thought; they're a Blood Angels successor chapter, but they are Yellow. Which, using the discredited (but probably used in 40K) Four Humors system would make them Choleric rather than Sanguine. Associated with Fire, Youth, Summer, the Gallbladder, short-tempers, bitterness and daring. That seems to fit.
They actually do use the four humours in the Horus Heresy books, so it's probably still around in 40k times!
Wib, this army, and the showcasing of the old metal marines has honestly tempted me to begin a collection of metal Chaos Marines to build an army with.
Do it. Do it! DO EET!
Down that path lies madness...
@@theshuttingdowns As it should be with Chaos! :D
I like how the Dark Angel slogan-wearers in that picture consist of Brother Edgelord, with "KILL" and "Pray for death", Sergeant Darkly Ironic with "Have a nice day", and their mate who really wanted to fit in but couldnt think of anything more inventive to write than just "Dark Angels".
Colour forge sunset yellow spray IS averland sunset spray. It's colour matched, and I'm using it for my imperial fists. I can only say they match pretty well.
Their sprays in general seem to be very good and the colour matching is also damn good too. Plus they are bugger cabs then most others !
Painting yellow over black? What a mad lad
A Wib ramble? Always a delight
He's awesome tbh.
YES to the Gobbo army overview. Love seeing all your models.
Your Lamenters army is brilliant! I've watched all your retro painting vids avidly. I gave up painting a Space Marine army in 1993 to go to University. Now in 2023 you have now inspired me to finally bring my Doom Eagles to the table. Cheers!
"I was originally just planning to have a little combat squad..." That's how they get ya.
This is just amazing. The attention to detail, the amount of original models, the strict adherence to the SPIRIT of yesteryear even when something is not quite the original thing... mindblowing! It is clear as day this is a work of love for you, it shines in every single moment. Looking forward where you go with them, would love to see them again!
I’ve followed Wib and his adventures in painting tiny people for a long old time, and the effect it has on my determination to *actually* sit down and paint in magic. I have so much respect for this channel as an engine of hobbying. This army looks amazing!!
You're earlier coverage of the Lamenters is what inspired me to paint my Space Marines be Lamenters.
Complete tangent but your Grot Rebellion stuff ended up inspiring me to create my own (printed) Grot Rebellion army!
"Give the people what they want" ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED?!
yo hey, this comment doesn't have anything to do with this video specifically but I've wanted to say this for awhile ive been watching this channel and more specifically the painting stuff and codex complaint for the past few years and this type of thing partially inspired me to make a channel myself. and even though our content cant be more different ive recently gotten to grow around your size, ive always wanted to make a Warhammer specific channel but haven't found the time since starting this one so thanks for being a inspiration hope ya guys keep finding success
I would honestl love a lot more of these videos where you just ramble about your minis because they are always very comfy and I have always loved your painting logs.
i’ve been manifesting this vid for months now you’re welcome viewers and thank you Snipe and/or Wib
Such a cool army! Amazing work, I admire the dedication to painting yellow over black primer
"They're far too old and rare to do conversions on..." The most 40k appropro treatment of significant relics.
"There is no such thing as a finished model; only degrees of Work In Progress." - Wib, probably
Beautifully painted and tons of nostalgia, I could listen to you ramble on about them for hours mate.
This video sends me back to that video of wib talking about his ork army.
Lovely army. Respect for sticking to the era as much as reasonably possible. I've been slowly working on a similar project using Rogue Trader era Chaos Squats for Heretic Astartes
This army is gorgeous. Great work
What a lovely army! Every start of an edition gives me a little more gas to paint up my RT/2nd/Early 3rd ed Orks. I have always loved collecting them so ever so slowly ive been painting them up even if I dont play 40k as much anymore.
I love watching people ramble about projects they put a ton of work into like this! It's such a great army, with loads of unique personality.
So, I was able to get my hands on some rtb-01 marines the other day and have had some old tanks of the era as well, you've honestly inspired me to do something very similar, just a small showcase army made of really old miniatures. Should be a really fun project!
enjoyable ramblings of lamentation, thank you
I don't know if anyone said this here but The Army Painter's Desert Yellow is a good spray base for yellow so you don't to anguish yourself as much while painting the most difficult color on the most difficult chapter color scheme.
I'd love to see a video on the potential future Sanguinary Guard conversions similar to the one you did for your Smash Captain. I'm quite curious about how it'd be put together!
Love it Wib! Thanks for showcasing such a brilliant army. Lamenters always look super cool en masse, and OldHammer warms the cockles of my cold dead heart. What a project!
Love this army! Recognized all the tanks immediately! What a great throwback to my first years in the hobby!
It's always great to see a well-painted Rogue Trader era army. I'm reminded of picking up a Chaplain on Jetbike blister from my local store in the mid 90's, having now idea how it went together, and the generally bad paint job I ended up giving it. Those were the days. I'm also keen on seeing the current state of your Grot Rebellion. Always a fun army concept, and such a shame it's even less viable in 10th. Have you considered looking at other games where it's more so, like Modulorka?
I've always thought it would be fun to stick a dead Eldar guardian on the base of that shuriken catapult beakie, like he's just picked it up after his bolter jammed and he's going, "so, uh, how does this thing work, then?"
Such a good army, I love all the classic models. You are such a trooper for having a Lamenters army, yellow and checkers scheme is something the devil gives you to do in hell as a punishment. It looks so good keep up the good work.
Ah this brings back some great teenage memories, this was the era I played 40K, although I had an imperial guard army myself. It was mostly all metal minis, some plastic and with those home-made Whirlwind and Vindicator conversions using the designs in White Dwarf and a bunch of plasticard. My favourite unit from back then, maybe 1990, were my Rough Rider horse cavalry.
Got a rowntrees lollies advert on this video. Weirdly perfect fit for you
You should do Grot Commissars to represent the runt herders :)
A ramble? On a Saturday? My Wib, you are spoiling us!
That techmarine is set and ready to robust some greyshirts.
That's a great army. I like your commitment to use only older models in the current game. My own Blood Angels are largely from 4th/5th edition and I've resisted adding any Primaris since then. They're not as pretty as yours though.
Absolutely amazing seeing this all together, although I couldn't help looking up points in 10th, but it comes to 3,130pts minus the apothecary
Love the Lamenters models! Working on my RT/2nd Ultramarines army because of you guys.
One is never too old to have a angry marines army
I just watched a grown man talking for about half an hour about his toys that are older than me...and I loved every second of it! Beakies 4 Life!
Absolutely brilliant paint job on every little guy
Tamya Fine Surface Primer in white is, to borrow a phrase from a poplar eighties butter candy advertisement "uncommonly good". A **period accurate** product would be Halfords' white spray primer, particularly for the vehicles. Amazing work, thanks for sharing!
Oh awesome, the entire Lamenters chapter in one video! :D
Imagine going to your local shop for a game and your opponent shows up with this. Models are like 10+ years older than I am, bro is either a mega collector or an old salt. Either way you’re probably about to get bodied.
At last, a continuation to Wib Shows Off His Orks.
Your army looks great! It's so inspiring to see your army come along, keep at it and you'll finish soon! You deserve to have a collection to be proud of
I am enjoying the idea of the techmarine just beating xenos to death with his toolbox way too much 😂
"The original land raiders [...] I don't know how to describe it, I just love them so much." It's called "having taste". :3
Beautiful army and great video about them! I'm on a similar quest, but since I already did Lamenters when Primaris debuted I'm going to do Crimson Fists and start with a Battle of the Farm set and expand from there into what I expect will be a very similar army roster.
I thought the landspeeder was a converted firestrike turret for a second
As an old git who last played 40K when these models were current the way you're doing stuff because you feel it and it looks good to you is probably the most period appropriate part of this endeavour: if you had all the right models but didn't have that freestyle vibe going on it wouldn't be complete in any meaningful sense. My Landspeeder was made from the engines of a 1: 48 scale Apache helicopter kit with two RTB-01s in the pilot seats on the front and painted in a grey tiger stripe cammo scheme I made up; and my Whirlwind was a bunch of the rocket pods from that same kit bodged on the to the top of a Rhino (would have totally used magnets if I'd had them). Making up your own chapter markings is also totally legit: my devastators all had skulls painted on the helmets because I thought that skulls painted on beaky helmets looked cool (a position I still stand by 30 years later).
And you better be sure as Heck i will listen for about half an hour!
For those we cherish, we die in glory.
As someone that asked for this I am grateful and it looks amazing!
i'm basicaly doing the same thing as you, but based on the 1991 white dwarf #142 Leeds ultramarines For a bit of variation in chainswords you can bodge together a couple of the chain bayonets from RTB01, maybe with a knife handle for the hilt, or bit of plasticard. or just use the chain bayonets as proxy chainswords , good for chainfists too on the power gloves.
SHO UZ YUR GROTZ
Outstanding work thank you for sharing
Brilliant video, really impressed by your painting skills!
I love this, all your videos have encouraged me to keep painting my Sad Boys 😊 keep going Wib, you'll finish it eventually
DIY Whirlwind? I made one of those back in the day :D
That is one beautiful army. And done from a black undercoat too! Really nice, thanks for sharing :-)
Always love a look at peoples armies. Really cool to see peoples thoygt processes and what excites them about their own work.
your armies are always wonderful to behold, part of me want to play against them
Wib, your Spartan is brilliant. You scored 2 original Land Raiders I see. Those are beautiful models. Nice army, very cool.👍
I needed this, thank you
Every time I see this army my wallet gets scared due to eBay prices of RT minis. Realm of chaos has always held my imagination so bad
Love those old minis and i still have so many of them. Bolters with bayonets just rule, btw.
That original predator is still the absolute best tank from 40k. Really taps into the pulp sci-fi that was present in RT while being it's own thing as well.
Very impressive! Thank you for sharing :-) Looking forward to seeing the gross sometime in the future!
Give Wib another 25 years then he'll be making an Angry Marines army with slogans such as "GIT OFF ME LAWN!" on shotgun scouts. Age is a funny thing like that.
Great little project, you should be well proud :D
Amazing paint jobs, I remember the RTB-01s looking much more awkward but you've managed to give them a lot more life. Inspires me to do a 3D printed RT style army.
Thanks for sharing, that was lovely!
This is such a lovely army!
6:56 (Metal Slug voice) Rocket Launcha!
I always find it pretty interesting to see this realy old RT-Miniatures, which where all befor my time. (I got into the hobby, when second Edition was in the Stores.) Maybe I try to get my hands on enough miniatures for just one Squad somewhere in the future. (At the moment I'm playing Sisters of Battle, but I have enough Miniatures around to build a Space Marine Army, just to take a new look on my old Colour Sceme from when I was a teen back in the 90ies.) At least: I'm alway trying to get my hands on a few old 2nd and 3rd Edition Sisters of Battle Miniatures to get a chance of that nostalgia-look into my current army. And maybe I have a small tip for you for the longer run in the future: There is a new Paint-Company in town. (Or at least: They are trying to get a food in the door right at the moment: Ten01-Labs from germany. They startet with a sucessful kickstarter a few month ago - maybe there still is a chance for a late pledge. They want to fullfill the Kickstarter somewhere in the next year. (At hit the Brick and Mortar stores afterwards.) What makes this Paints interesting is, that they advertised them with a balck primed Cat Miniature which was basicalli painted Yellow with more or less one coat. Perhaps it maybe worth a trye for you.
Love seeing your progress on the Lamenters. They're coming along swimmingly. You've worked very hard on them, and it's paid off in spades. Or checkers, if you will. On the subject of Grot Runtherds, no one ever said they needed to be Orcs. Maybe consider giving some fancier grot models a bigger melee weapon (and sitting on top of something, of course). To designate them, not as a master keeping them in line, but a charismatic grot leading a squad of equals into battle. Communist Goblins and all that.
I love your lamenters, they look so good. It’s actually inspired me to do, essentially the same thing, but instead of rogue trader minis I’m planning on using the recent beakies that were released for the Horus heresy game, and anything forge world churns out. Got my eyes on that librarian consul.
If you're looking to use firstborn that are slightly taller than regular firstborn like said Mk6 you've just mentioned the Heroes series Tactical marines are same scale as Mk6, deathwatch veterans are also same size but probably not what you're looking for and finally HH is do another upgrade to an existing armour mk in autumn so like MK3, Mk5 or whatever armour it is will become Mk6 sized. If you're looking for terminators the Heroes series two terminators are also taller than the recently replaced termies, leviathan box has a terminator squad, captain and librarian all in new scale and terminator chaplain tarentus is also same scale but was a limited time mini released a few years ago so might be a bit expensive to get him Good luck with your project friend :)
For those we cherish, we die in glory!
My man!those are so awesome.great job.
Gorgeous army and enjoyed your recounting of how the collection has grown and what you have planned. Hope you show off the librarian when its done, that one is a rather nice sculpt. Nice camo snipers, I like the cloaks, convertions are excellent. RT era on 32mm bases look good, wasnt sure if they were 28mm, never liked 25mms because of feet poking over .. prone to wearing the paint off and they just looked odd.
Lamentors the opposite of angry marines :)
Power tool box 😂😂😂😂 that's a great joke 😂
A beautiful collection! The checks really pop out at tabletop range, would never have expected that
they're great, nice to see the whole force (so far) and I'm a big fan of your own interpretations of the colour schemes for some of the units.
Those are damn cute marines
Hell Yh! Lamenters content!
Thank you for making this video.
It looks fantastic
THE BOYS!
An here I am painting up a super modern Minotaurs army. Seems fitting.
Love old minis. In the process of kit bashing , sculpting a proxy star striders kill team. Many a classic part used.
