  • Why drive a nice vehicle into water with an unknown depth? I'm just curious because it seems to be comman practice.Does the vehicle interior flood when driving through deep water? Are the cars electronics affected?

  • 1) that is not how you enter a water crossing. 2) that is most definitely NOT how you winch.

  • Thought FJs had front lockers? Watching the 1 wheel spin, not engaged?

    @richardjay3427@richardjay34273 жыл бұрын
    • They have an off road active traction control (called A-TRAC) that would have had both wheels spinning together. It only works in low range, but you have to turn it on for it to work lol. Had he been using it, there wouldn't have been so much unnecessary wheel spin which, along with his heavy foot, got himself stuck...

    • @@chainlink4241 They come with rear lockers from factory. Many do at least

      @theninja9563@theninja95632 жыл бұрын
    • @@theninja9563 I think most all of the 4x4's came with the rear locker, it can be used with ATRAC or just one or the other by itself. ATRAC will send the power to the wheels on each axle with the most traction, both front and rear, or just on the front wheels if the rear locker is engaged. I don't know if the 2007-09 models are able to use both at the same time, I know the 2010-14's can. And ATRAC is supposedly already programed into every 4x4 model too, it's just a matter of buying the $50 switch from Toyota and plugging it in if the switch isn't installed. A lot of people have also installed aftermarket front lockers in theirs too, but in low traction situations the ATRAC system can appear to work like a front locker from an observing standpoint if used correctly. I think that's why so many people think they have front and rear lockers. Do you have an FJ too? I'm just curious if you have one of the earlier (07-09) models and how it all works together on those.

      @chainlink4241@chainlink42412 жыл бұрын
    • @@chainlink4241 Some did not that's why I said many do. Even the 2WD models have rear lockers. I have a 2007 with everything. Plus my own mods

  • The problem is that the water depth was excessive, the vehicle floated and the tires lost their grip on the ground. If you stopped accelerating, it could cause a hydraulic shim in the engine.
