Sometimes referred to as denizens of the desert, donkeys are actually an invasive species. Often their numbers build up and the BLM (Bureau of Land Management) must intervene in order to keep them from starving. This provides an excellent opportunity for many people to participate in the BLM's donkey adoption program, also known as the Adopt-A-Burro program, not to be confused with the Adopt-A-Cabin program. Filmed in the Argus Range in Inyo County, California.
As usual, this video features one of my annoying, but original, songs. I wrote and performed the song. Sorry about the shaky camerawork, but I just carry a small camera while out on a hike. No tripod or fancy equipment. Gotta keep it light so I can hike up Them Thar Hills!
LOVED IT!! That one donkey was quite feisty. I LOVE your work!! Turd with a view!! AWESOME!!
Them thar hills are filled with donkeys. i wish i had the space to adopt one or two. 😸😸
Taking care of donkeys could definitely take a fair amount of time! Too much of a commitment for me!
Wow I did not know those facts on Donkeys, and fun to watch them watch us too. Good job Turtle you always have my vote. 👍35😁Gary
Glad you enjoyed the video! Many thanks!!!
Gorgeous dessert views; fun donkeys frolicking in the dust...and.....egad! Gruesome ending! It is a growing problem for these animals, out there, starving and all. Hopefully they'll get adopted somewhere. Still, so awesome to be able to go hiking and look out there yonder, and see these great beasts of burden!
It's always fun to see wildlife, even of the non-native kind! Thanks for checking out the video!
Them Thar Hills -:)
They moving with the sound of the Music.
Them Thar Hills - thumbs up :)
Thanks for watching!
I love to see horses donkeys and ponies running wild , the turd with a view was good humor and as always the song was very good ;-) tu^6 believe in love Trevor
It's fun to see them while out hiking. They do tend to devastate plant life around springs though. And they also displace the natural wildlife in the areas where they proliferate.
@@blackturtleshow HAha they are enriching the soil !! you comment reminds me of a time me and the wife were hiking in Devon a few years back on Dartmoor national park , we sat on a hill enjoying a rest , watching ponies in the distance destroying hikers parked cars , breaking wing mirrors off and back kicking the bodywork of the cars ,one even pulled windscreen wipers off , to us it looked like they were doing it knowing exactly what they were doing , I bet the hikers were not very happy when they returned , and probably blamed it on local hooligans !! in a way they were right , but these hooligans were ponies !!!
Fantastic song and video, great fun, Have a nice week friend! full view and liked!

News to me, Turtle! Glad to hear that a program is in place.
Managing the population is not easy!
They do a good job of keeping them thar hills fertilized. Watch where you step!
No doubt about it!

Thanks! I just wish I could hold the camera more steady when I'm zooming in on donkeys!

Thanks for watching and commenting!
This tune sound's really catchy.
Many thanks!
I would like one but I don't know how to take care of one and I don't have room for one. I learned something today with your song. Coyotes are an invasive species here where I live.
Yeah, they would take a lot of looking after and it's probably kind of expensive to care for them!
Great music and video creation Blackturtle my dear friend :) Thumbs up! ♥
Thanks for checking out the video!!!

Stopped by to say hello and hope all is good. Peace and have a good weekend.
Good weekend to you too!
@@blackturtleshow Welcome you are also.
Awww. They are cute. You should catch one!
Actually the BLM rounds them up and I've heard is even paying people $1000 to take them off their hands. Otherwise the donkeys eat all the vegetation and wind up starving by the end of summer.
@@blackturtleshow $1000? I'll take a dozen. They could graze with the cows!
@@caramoonlynn If I recall correctly, the limit was four per year. The estimated cost the BLM gives for taking care of a donkey for a year is $5000, but if you already have the facilities, etc. I'd assume that the actual cost would be considerably less. At any rate, the BLM seems to think that they save money by offering the $1000 incentive.
ha ha ha, awe man love your stuff, big smile here brother!
Thanks for watching and commenting!

Donkeys don't go to heaven??😭 What about the one Jesus rode on into Jerusalem? Hope they at least made an exception for him.
You ask a deep theological question. Perhaps we should petition the pope. Is the pope the ultimate religious authority or would it be somebody else? Perhaps Dabney Doublechins?
