Manchester City stadium, and new Arena

Have you seen the images of what it will look like with it's led top part lit up.

It also is the most environmental arena and will have a living wall, trees, wildflower garden.

I've seen the projected views online, I think it's going to look amazing.

Really, it looks quite full whenever I've been invited along.

I didn't design or build it. I just filmed it. No idea where the inspiration came from.

@shaz2761 I understand that, the PS2 is a good thought, maybe keeps the younger generations interested. That could catch on as a nickname.

More like 5 layers, lots of buildings are one box. This will look amazing when it is finished. The top will light up. It is a radical design, nothing else like it.

Quite a lot of permanent jobs.

Those are buildings not jobs.

@voetbal12 But to run the venue it will take people, as it has to build them. Therefore creating jobs.

This new Co-op Arena will provide somewhere between 2,000-4,000 new job openings apparently .....

And City always insist that the jobs they create go to local people.

The new Co-op arena, or 'Co-op Live' as it will be known, is a joint venture owned by the Oak View Group and City football Group (CFG), with heavy investment from the member owned Co-op, who are gonna provide practically everything in there.

Yeah, I must admit I thought the same as you when I first heard about this new arena, and what they were naming it as, but 'it is what it is' i suppose, and the Co-op have been in existence for around 180 years, so, with the other food retailers or supermarkets all constantly advertising on TV, billboards, placards and everywhere else these days, the Co-op probably just see this an opportunity to keep their good name out there.

The co-op is a Manchester business originally.

Unfortunately they didn't wind test the design, it was vibration that was it's downfall. Some of the spikes were becoming loose. I loved that sculpture, 80 tons, much higher than the Angel of the north and three times the lean of that little tower in Italy. I watched each day as it was built, so sad to see it go. Maybe they will build something else there one day.

@@JJandDad Yeah, I know. Still less of an eyesore than this monstrosity, though. A big, black blot on the landscape. It doesn't fit in with the area in my opinion.

@mana3735 The publicity images of the new arena look good, when the top part is all lit up. Compared to the AO arena at Victoria Station, it looks very modern, and much more stylish. Suppose we will get used to it.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Not everyone's favourite, but it is quite impressive when you stand near it.

It looks fantastic from outside to be fair. I suppose it will be judged on the experience inside though.
