Before anything gets out of control, exotic cats (caracals, servals, etc.) do NOT make good pets. Nor do anteaters 😅 They were only attending the show for educational purposes, so we had a perfect opportunity to teach viewers about these incredible animals 🥰
Yea, after Joe Exotic I'm pretty conflicted about keeping wild cats.
love your videos
I did enjoy watching this! I think you should focus on reptiles for new products, as that is your audience and the reptiles need the representation as opposed to dogs and cats - though I love them and did enjoy seeing the cutie pies you petted! The seminars would be interesting too, for those who can't get there.
Thank you for putting this out there! I clicked ready to have to make some comments. When I interned at Nashville Zoo, I talked at baby feedings and you would not believe the amount of people who think a clouded leopard would make a great pet. Like yeah a full grown female is only 35-40 pounds (males about 45-55) but these guys have canines almost the size of tigers. Nursery staff have had claws of 2-3 month olds go through compression socks.
Its too bad you cant edit the video to say any of this for people who don't read the comments. It honestly sounded like the woman who was showing you them was promoting getting these animals by encouraging me to do my research, before go ahead and adopt my own. I'm sure there is context missing but you have a lot of young and impressionable viewers who will not understand that. You are at a pet expo.
Ed's role within the company being "husband" implies that he is married to everyone within snake discovery😂
Isn’t he all of our husbands?
Does that mean that it’s alright for us to love him?
Husbando Ed
Sounds like polyamory with extra steps lol
@@carschmn That's .... Weird
Maybe there isn't demand for a podcast but I hope you guys continue "Adoptathon". It was so cool to see all the surrenders and watch them find new homes. My humble plea to continue it! 🙏❤
Seconded! I really love the Adoptathon streams!
I think they will do it again when it warms up and is a safe temperatures to ship that is why they stopped before
Personally I adore the puns, and I love the "underperforming" videos. You always put 100% of your selves in videos. Snakes, birbs, cooking for animals and more!
I personally love the videos with Cheyenne, I hope the poor numbers don’t stop you from continuing to make them!
Agreed! Cheyenne is precious and I'll happily watch anything about her anytime.
YES! More Cheyenne! And more Rex!
I loved that video! I can’t believe it did poorly! Watching Cheyenne eat food was so fun!
Me 4
Also big agree
Servals are terrible pets. Servals and Asian Leopard Cats and Caracals, and their hybridized versions, are at the TOP of surrendered/abandoned felines. Many vets nationwide who work with dogs and cats will turn you away if you bring in a Savannah because it is a wild animal. PLEASE don't make more - I volunteer at a rescue and it is heart-wrenching what they go through in the pet trade! Even the lady herself said it was common for the moms to eat the young, please don't support the wildcat pet trade because they are NOT designed to thrive in captivity. Edit: I did mean percentage. They aren't likely to have a happy ending in private homes.
This this this this this!!! Exotic animals are not good pets!! Edit: exotic as in "literally a wild mammal. Like a tiger or serval." I'm sure you all can use context clues to puzzle out what I meant here.
Absolutely. I volunteer at the minnesota Wildcat Sanctuary and see the many, many hybrids, Savannahs, caracals, lynx, bobcats, etc that people surrendered or had taken from them. It needs to stop.
Domesticated animals like house cats and dogs are already such a big lifestyle commitment for the length of the animal's life. Wild animals are not the same at all in terms of the ability to live with humans in human-centered settings like our homes.
Yes keep wild animals wild!!
Yes! Worked in a rescue for multiple years, we got so many serval/savannah cats and bangals too :( like yeah you get a few very nice cats out of them but most are to wild and sensitive for typical homes
being a cat person I feel the need to re-emphasize that servals and carcals are *not* pets. Servals have territories of 4-12 miles in the wild, caracals have a minimum territory size of 22 miles in the wild and many have territories much larger. They should never be kept in homes or by private keepers. This is not a "do your research" situation, this is a "don't do it" situation.
Bingo, agree 💯
Ed's just taking "husbandry" to a whole new lvl 😂👌✨
😆
"Ed Roberts; husband" Haliarious 10/10 omg
11:56 he had a VEST!
12:47 he has pointed ears!
13:58 he is a 🐱!
I love that Cheyenne was at the show ❤😂
...and glad Ed & Emily saw her! Need to work on an endorsement deal, tho...
She'll undoubtedly be at the next show too, since Ed and Emily have made another short video of her loving their product 🤣 I'm not sure if I'd personally like it if a video I made was used to sell something without my knowledge, but they don't seem to mind so good vibes all around
Seriously Emily, Ed, I'm betting quite a few of your fans will never get to meet you in person, let alone go to an expo. Keep up what you've been doing. The 2 of you and the parents are really neat to watch!
I love seeing what is new to the pet care community, whatever the animal might be. It's just fun seeing you two have fun!!!
How weird I loved the Cheyenne trying different foods vid! Super happy to see it broadcasting there!
Same. Plus that food looked tasty enough for humans to eat, lol.
Me too!
I loved that video! It was similar to finding Ally’s favorite food and I loved it lol
@@Els_Craft_Room yep, the Ally video was fun
I really liked that video too!
I very much love learning about new products for snakes specifically. I personally want to make snake jungle gym equipment for people to play with their snakes while their out of their enclosures.
i love that! i’m moving soon and when i have more space and pull out my old barbie hotel from storage and trick it out for my lil snakes and lizards to play on
@@emyrfackler2219 that sounds like a great idea! I use cardboard at the moment.
I love that idea ❤
Looooved this! As part of your adult audience, I would love more of these things. Especially love seeing what you do at these as opposed to the new products, a good mix of vendors, animals and seminars!
to be honest as someone who doesnt get to go to many of these things due to disability and finances, Id be one of the few folks that would love to see video of the entire event from your perspective... gives me a chance to not only see things but hear you speak to vendors, and get your feedback as well.
As someone in a similar position ... I live vicariously through these kind of events talking about things I'll never have use for =)
Same! I love all sorts of of animals but don't have the means or physical capabilities to get out to expos, so getting to see the whole of the expo is wonderful.
More behind the scenes would be amazing to see!
“There’s not enough demand for a podcast” EMILY WE WATCH THE JASON SHOW IF YOURE ON IT!!” Do I own or want to own a reptile? No. Do I live anywhere near MN??? No. But there I am, watching Jason freaking out if he touches a snakes tail 😂😂😂!
I'm so glad I'm not the only one!! I followed that channel just because of Emily and I get SO excited when he brings up an SD video and luckily the algorithm knows me well enough to know that it only shows me Emily's videos on Jason's channel 😆
Same, and I'm from Finland. However, if I ever travel to US, I gotta stop by their zoo
I just caught one of Emily's Jason appearances yesterday. The one with the monkey skink and the rattlesnake. It was so much fun seeing him actually holding a snake.
Same here. If not for Emily, I wouldn't even know the show existed... ( I'm from the Netherlands) Watched every KZhead video with Jason and Emily. And even the one without Jason 😂
Same. Jason is hysterical!
Honestly I want to see Snake Discovery Videos. Regardless of the content, I'm one of the folks who watches all the videos.
Our whole family watches every single video too - It’s out after-dinner treat every Tuesday and Friday! 🎉
I would 100% listen to a snake discovery podcast about anything!!!!!! What it is like to be a business owner, animal care, what it is like to be a zoo owner, or about there animals!! Anything I would listen to it !!!
Pet dilemmas also- agony aunt style. 'My bearded dragon scratched my kiddo and they won't pet it...' sort of things
Ed Roberts...husband, owner, habitat builder, repairman, driver, breeder, videographer, editor, influencer, mover, cleaner...
Electritian, IT specialist..
Ed of all trades!
I enjoyed the feeding Cheyenne video because it was apparent that your two were having a good time!
Honestly my absolute favorite part of you KZhead videos are snake babies being born and the expos. They’re sooo fun to watch.
To be perfectly honest with you, I enjoy watching pretty much everything you guys make. Your enthusiasm is infectious, and I like watching your videos because you love making them. My favourite segments in these videos is honestly your interviews with the vendors. It doesn't have to be entirely about reptiles or birds or anything. It could be with anyone. I love seeing people talk about what they enjoy doing, and with a lot of these vendors it is 100% a passion for them. You could have made a 10 hour video of just you interviewing the vendors at the show and I would have watched the entire thing.
4:00 I have that enclosure for my blue tongue skink and the lock is the best part. It's so easy to open and close and looks much nicer than traditional locks. It was easy to assemble it too.
Do you find it quite strong? My first thought was that it might jostle and fall out from the outside, but that's obviously without knowing what it's like in person.
What enclosure is that? I really like the look of it and since this video came out I have been searching for where I can find that lock :')
Us cat owners call churu “cat crack”. lol. I liked the format of this video. A little bit of everything. New products, other types of pets.
The Rex latte is ADORABLE!!! You guys are amazing and wonderful and I love each and every one of your videos...even the ones on the tarantulas....
I enjoy all your videos. I have no reptiles or interest in getting any, but I love learning about them from your videos. Plus it helped me get "cool Grandma"points when I visited my grandson and confidently held and enjoyed his newly acquired corn snake. Such a beautiful snake, and I had you to thank for just being able to enjoy the snake, the moment, and the connection with my grandson.
Oh, I love hearing this!! 🥺❤️
The expose that you guys go to are always so much fun to watch. It’s always great to see new animal reptile products coming out thanks.
Please please please post more shenanigans! I need them. I ❤ you guys.
I also love to see it
Honestly enjoy living vicariously through you guys, so seeing any sort of animal content is great.
I personally would absolutely listen to a SD podcast!! But I understand that would be a lot on top of what you guys already do!! 💚🖤💚🖤
For the record, I would TOTALLY listen to a Snake Discovery podcast 😂
Me too!
Me three!
love these kind of video! the only concern i have is highlighting those in the more "exotic" pet trade without proper disclaimers about how 9 times out of 10 they're not suitable as good pets. oh course there was that small disclaimer at the end with the serval, but i definitely think there needs to be more clear discouragement. you're pretty good on this about reptiles - you've always shown how keeping an alligator as a pet isn't a good idea - but i think a lot more needs to go into the more "popular" exotic pets that people like to buy and abuse when they cant care for them correctly, like the felines and foxes and the sort. that's my only concern! otherwise, very happy with this kind of content
ew every time i post im reminded of my screen name that i made when i was like 11. i should change that some day
100% agree - even Savannah cats, the Serval x domestic hybrid, top the charts on abandoned/surrendered cat "breeds." They are not designed to adapt to captivity :(
I was thinking this too. The amount of exotic pets sold every year is increasing because of viral videos driving demand. And of course the majority of these animals are not well cared for 😢 People impluse buy animals because they look cute in videos but are not prepared for how difficult it is to actually care for a wild animal.
Everyone please stick with domesticated animals and reptiles/amphibians!! I promise you will have a more rewarding bond with a regular dog or cat than with an exotic that is much harder to care more, will destroy your home and will be much more expensive!
People who watch these videos aren't stupid. I think it was made pretty clear that those animals aren't suitable as pets (not just them saying so but also the fact that the mom of the lynx eat two of her babies and her mentioning that this tends to happen in captivity). They are pretty much only suitable for a near zoo environment or, if you want them in a pet setting, you basically have to dedicate your damn life to them (which is something so owners of exotic larger pets are willing to do and practice).
Dear Emily, Im an adult woman, and I try to start up my own buisness too. I love watching your channel as a "normal life of buissness owners". I know Edd does a lot fo SD, but as a woman myself your a huge inspiration for me Emily!! And make me belive in myself that I can build something from ground up alone! Please do more buisness vlogs !
I personally like the business/seminar videos you guys make as long as you're alright with it adding more to edit, post, etc. It gives insight into how much goes into the business as reptile breeders, educators, and content creators and thus helps your audience really appreciate what you guys do. It also gives insight in what it takes to learn new knowledge and skills as you expand your business! 💛💛💛
It’s perfect how it was. Just showing a mix of everything.
Wow the rex-latte!
I really enjoy seeing your buddies/friends and hearing their updates about products.
Stuff like this and Cheyenne's video are definitely fun and enjoyable.
All in favor of a snake discovery podcast upvote this so they know!! We would LOVE that
i loved the cheyanne video! i'm getting some of those for my bird niece and nephew
the little servals face at 14:42 looked like it was smiling!! so cute! ❤
lovelove LOVE your expo vids!! Even just seeing the new things, regardless of pet type or seminar!! Also it’s always great to see you talking to and giving other brands a chance to get their stuff seen to potential customers!!!
A Podcast with you guys would be an absolute dream!
FOR REAL!
Agreed! They both know so much cool stuff and I don't just mean about reptiles.
Totally! ❤ I'd listen all day
Personally, they’re so busy making videos and running their biz, I’d vote for not throwing more demands on them. Would be interested in dog/cat products only while they are at these venues, if not too much trouble. Fantastic hard working young couple deserving of all their success. Love them! ❤❤
They have appeared on podcasts before but they're too busy to have they're own podcast
All for seeing new products, and since I have cats and dogs, all for that, too!
I love this type of video. You guys have so many opportunities as business owners to go to places like that where the average person would never go. Its really cool, and learning about new products to the pet world at large (pretty much anything that peaks yalls interest would be fun to hear about) is always welcome/fascinating.
Honestly, I hope you do more with the rescue side of exotic animals, especially in different areas of the world, so that people have somewhere to look if they need help. The reptile product reviews are great too.
I love these types of videos where you interview all sorts of folks. I can always learn so much from them!
I love these types of event videos!!! New products for sure, the seminars tend to be pointed for business owners.
I enjoy seeing you attend events for reptiles and exotics!
I would absolutely LOVE a snake discovery podcast!
I've been watching you for 2 years now and I'm astonished by you, you have inspired me along my life, thank you and I love you ❤
1:05 lol nice Emily. Ed the husband 😂😂😂😂
We love watching new products
Yes please! I’d love to see more content like this!
Seeing Emely get soooo exited over animals is seriously making my day !!! ♥
I like seeing the new products, but particularly things about reptiles and birds.
I love watching these types of videos! In fact they are probably some of my favorites.
Love the expo tour. New products for exotic pets are always really interesting. Please keep taking us with you. 😊
Love seeing the shows. I will probably never get to go to one of these so these are great to watch.
I love watching these videos period. Your personality is what we watch for!
I love watching all of this. Its so cool to see that there are things like this
This was definitely a fun watch. Love seeing the updates of behind the screen activities and it also provides us an idea of what is coming out and what you are doing. I’m already pretty familiar with stuff like this but in a retail and manufacturing sense so it was awesome to see it from a pet end of it all.
I really enjoyed Cheyenne's taste test! Was something different and i liked the battle of the tastes xD
Definitely enjoy these videos. Love how you did the mix of everything!
I have been watching you guys for forever now, I LOVE THESE VIDEOS! They are SO AMAZING!
I really liked this video. I used to go to conventions like this when I helped my father run a comic book store. I would love to see more of these.
This was fun to watch and it is nice to see your mix of things.
Thank you for taking us with you! I've learned so many new facts! Have a nice week, Snake Discovery!
The latte was amazing!!! These are cool videos. I think the fun part is getting my to see the stuff that genuinely excites you.
I love that Cheyenne was on the TV! I hope even though it didn't do that well, please upload more!!!
I think a Snake Discover podcast would be an amazing idea! You could talk about specific species of snakes and their morphs and where they come from. It could be like an internet zoo exhibit. You could do interviews with other breeders, like the ones you talk to at conventions and get their takes on the reptile world in more depth than you can put in a youtube video. It would be great to use it as a spotlight for endangered species as well. There's a lot of details that you can put in a podcast that you don't have time for in your normal content because you have to squeeze in time for all the animals you feature.
I loved this style of video!! Honestly, it was the perfect mix of new products, animal spot lights, and wholesome fun. I'm happy to see any type of animal care. You two make everything interesting because you're YOU. :)
I really enjoyed having the full varriety of seeing cute animals, learning about the innovation in the pet world, and the seminars
You guys are always so cool and educational! Love your vids
Loved the video! All of it is so interesting, plus we’ve watched y’all build Snake Discovery from a small program into an amazing business! We’re just happy to be a part of it all. More please❤😊
I would ABSOLUTELY love a Snake Discovery podcast!!
I love watching when you go to conventions!
Wow this is for sure one of those shows that needs a *map*.
I'd like to see more on isopods, if even just as part of a bioactive setup, and springtails (which are pretty much always part of a bioactive setup, even if they're the only part that's bioactive.)
loved IT! ALL new products
YOU GUYS SHOULD REALLY MAKE A PODCAST!!!!!!! THAT IS SUCH A GOOD IDEA!!!!! DONT SLEEP ON IT!!
Agreed that’s a great idea!
I’d definitely listen. I want to hear about all the BTS.
And meet some of the staff at Snake Discovery who aren't comfortable with the camera but can happy talk all day about their pets, etc.
This is cool to watch
We love ANYTHING you guys present❤❤❤❤❤
Love to see you guys. With animals ❤ and animal product of every kind
Well played, Emily 🤣🤣
i would absolutely listen to a snake discovery podcast
Everything! I love watching these videos a lot! I hope you keep doing them.
I really enjoy watching your trade show videos! Thank you for sharing them!
The anteater 😮 his front paws 🐾 are huge 😅. Awesome critter 😄
I love the husband badge
I love these types of videos, and I love seeing ALL the animals!
I love your tradeshow vids! I like seeing the variety of things that happen and getting to see all the vendors/animals that are there. You guys do a great job of capturing the vibe of the shows!
I do like seing you guys go to expo's and talking to people about new and interesting animals and products! I think a lot of people are a bit uncomfortable with exotic (non reptile) breeders due to the ones that were milling and issues with exotic pets being so easy to get in some areas but maybe if you guys balanced it with rescue sides of it or ways ethical breeders help might be a better way to show exotics 😅 not that I'm saying the ones you showed were bad breeders necessarily! Just that I think most viewers like the rescue side and stuff like breeding to benefit the availability of non wild caught reptiles kind of things if that makes sense?
YES!!!!!! Finally, a well-rounded comment! There are a bunch of people (both here and in general) saying that it's evil to have these animals as pets at all, and I think that's way too bossy. But you definitely do need to do a heck-ton of research and make absolutely SURE you're up for it before getting these animals.
I've had an absoloutely terrible day, and this is making it so much better. I love you Ed and Emily!!!!
I love seeing new reptile products the uvb led lights are very interesting and something that has been needed for a long time.
Yes I love this type of video!
I love this type of content! Expos give a good overview of what is happening in the pet sphere. Especially the new and upcoming products! It shows off where the community is and where it's going. Big cats, reptiles and fish are awesome! I would say that the reason I watch you guys is for the exotic pet expertise, so seeing regular cats and dogs is less interesting.
I watched (and liked) that Cheyenne video. Maybe I'm in the minority.
