The most surprising thing about this experiment was that the sims 4 lost. I was expecting it to do really well.

Sims 4 simply never had a solid foundation to work on, prior to coming out. it was another always-online disaster much like the last Sims City title to ever come out. The backlash forced EA to change it back to singleplayer, but clearly Sims 4 was now always going to be underbaked from the start...
You know, I totally forgot that this game came from the era where EA was trying to force that always online crap on players...now fundamentally the game is busted due to a poor foundation
These neat/clean sims aren't doing that thing they're interested in... (Love these challenges!)

Sims 4 sims need the most micromanaging for basic needs. Their autonomous actions all are dependent upon their emotions. While EA thought emotions was an upgrade, they are actually a downgrade, as they do not work properly. The game devs needed to code how sims could autonomously work through their emotions, instead of just creating objects that give off auras to simulate changes. Even placing skill objects in rooms with said objects, most often will not autonomously guide sims to do use them. And come on EA, when even "clean sim," can't keep himself and his surroundings clean, what kind of broken game have you given us? 🤣
honestly so true!! I had 10 clean Tytar clones and look at how bad it was! If you look closely, you'll notice later in the video a lot of the dishes go missing. A cut scene from this experiment was when I had hired a cleaning service! Seriously, the Clean Tytars literally did NO cleaning!

I was shocked at how many were attending too. If you look at one of the days, the repopeople literally cry at the bodies for Sim Weeks at a time haha

This confirmed what drives me CRAZY in sims 4! I still play 1, 2, & 4 often (I love 3 too but don't have it set up atm) and sims 4 feels like SUCH a micromanager, I love having a family household with at least 4 sims but in sims 4 that becomes a slog of telling each sim exactly what to do all day every day 😮💨 for it being the newest it feels a LOT closer to sims 1 in A.I. in a very disappointing way. I know its been said already but... after playing sims 4 it always feels like s2 sims are *much more alive* and less like dolls I'm forcing every action for!
Sorry for the super late reply! But I loved your comment! I agree with you on the Sims 4 thing. Did you see the Sims 1 experiment I did of this? If not, you may like it! I say that because it actually performed even better than Sims 4 did lol
Out of the three main Sims games (TS2, TS3 and TS4), I find the AI in Sims 4 to be the worst. The can usually take care of their needs, but that's it. They won't do anything on their own, they won't develop any skills unless you do it first, nothing interesting will ever happen. It's just really plain and boring. TS3 has by far the best AI, even if the game doesn't run great all the time.
You're so correct. Part of the reason I didn't just keep allowing them to restart over and over and over and over all the way until they finally made it to day 30 was, it was boring! I could clearly tell these Sims were aimlessly doing things. There was little to no logic behind their choices. It was totally random what they would do. Nothing meaningful was happening by allowing it to go on, especially when I gave them soooo many extra tries.
I would’ve thought that because sims 4 was the most modern of the four it would last long. But they didn’t even make it to the half way point. Guess they didn’t put enough focus on the AI.
Some Sims 4 players would argue that it's not as good because the player is meant to actually play the game. I don't disagree, but I've also got my eye on EA! They're difficult to trust in today's gaming market. 🧐

I absolutely love sim experiments. “For science” lmao. Also there’s something so satisfying about speeding it up by 2,000,000 or whatever, wish that was part of the base game 😆
Also simply adore the super long, gross banquet table , that combined with the ridiculous lag really sets it all off perfectly 😆
I wish so too! At one point I had it speeding at 7,500,000% speed. I almost did 10,000,000% speed for one of the clips but it was literally so fast the day night cycle was giving me a headache looking at the footage haha

omg don't even get me started on sims 4 problems lol, I think all fellow simmers can relate
yea... Sims 4 problems are pretty much non-stop
One piece of criticism I could give, is that I find autonomy in the sims 4 works better when sims have had a 'learning period'. I find sims that have been played for a a few days or for a week, tend to know how to look after themselves once you step away. NOT ALWAYS, but most times. Think of its as babies first training wheels 😂 You play them for a bit so that they gain skills and a understanding of their needs, then turn autonomy on. That's just what I've noticed when experimenting.
I think your comment is totally fair and valid! You are correct though because I never tried what you suggested. I wish I would've known that! I wonder if they would've performed better had I trained them haha. I also once heard the argument that Full-Autonomy is not meant to live on its own because you're supposed to play the game and not leave them on their own for days on end haha
Sims 1-3 videos didn't have the "training wheels" period though so it'd be weird if he suddenly "trained" the sims 4 sims.

Honestly, The Sims Autonomy has consistently disappointed me, and it seems to have deteriorated with each new installment in the franchise. Instead of focusing on their individual traits, the Sims often prioritize generic needs, making the traits in The Sims 4 feel somewhat pointless. They hardly contribute anything substantial to the Sims themselves, aside from moodlets that fluctuate constantly, and it feels broken, adding little to the overall gameplay. I sincerely hope that in The Sims 5 and upcoming simulation games like Paralives and Life By You, we'll finally have the opportunity to create truly unique characters who stand out from one another.
I agree with you completely. It seems as though personality traits actually don't affect much outside of moodlets or animation choices in certain situations, it doesn't seem to affect their autonomy at all, it sort of felt like an afterthought

This is why I use MCCC to disable all bills, and I flag all my Sims to be immortal and their freeze motives. Their motives always stay green and they can never die. If I didn’t do this, I would go crazy trying to micromanage their lives.
