Today we are looking at the recently released (in English) mod for Skyrim - Enderal. This is unfair to even call a mod since it's basically it's own standalone game using the Skyrim engine. This means there is no dragonborn- no Whiterun- no dragon shouts.. it is its own game in it's entirety.
It has a playtime ranging from 30-100 hours and I found it so good- so compelling.. that's almost all I want to tell you about it besides giving it a recommendation to anyone who loves RPGs.

"it's fun to just not know shit again"... true words man.
classic bethesda, they throw the players a bone, and then the modding community turns that bone into a dog =]
and then the modding community turns into a company and anal rapes bethesda and yeets the TES Series into the void
that's part of the fun I guess
On loverslab its not a dog they turn it into 😂
They turn it into doggy style 😅
Then they turn it into a jewel. Enderal is really good.
I just finished it today and I'm not gonna spoiler anything but WOW. Just... Wow. You know when you read a book, and the writing was so good and thought provoking and emotional that it pulls you in, and then when you finish it you're not sure what to do when you're finished with it? That's how I feel right now after finishing Enderal.
Finished it 3 days ago. Still have no idea what to do with myself anymore.
IKR I'm starting a new character and explore the everloving crap of the world and do most side quests. I feel a bit guilty for reloading to see other endings >w
1+ like for you good sir, made me laugh like crazy.
How long roughly did it take you?
please tell me, can Enderal accept the combat mods that add impact and better finishers and maybe the blood splatter mod? because without those, the gameplay kinda sucks for me
7:48 THIS! Very important! Totally felt that feeling. Its like discovering Elder Scrolls for the first time. THAT FEELING, it's irreplaceable.
please tell me, can Enderal accept the combat mods that add impact and better finishers and maybe the blood splatter mod? because without those, the gameplay kinda sucks for me
Shaddai Graphics You can try it, I don't know why they should not work.
It didn't do it for me as much as I wished it. I've been playing too much Skyrim lately and exploring more and so I've gotten used to discovering things. Maybe in a year or so I will go back to it. The into did leave a big impression on me though. I've been playing Skyrim for more than 800 hours together and for the past few months I've been playing at least 10 to 20 hours a week so I've been a little exhausting of discovering new things.
I started playing Enderal last week and I LOVE IT. It's like a new adventure, everything seems so handcrafted, so interesting and special
The best part about this game is that certain dialogues become ridiculously creepy if you know the plot twist at the end. Like the story becomes more interesting if you already went through it. That's a first for me.
Spoilers Ahead! To be honest, knowing how the game will ends also can bring up a certain nihilism when making decisions. For example, the first time I got this weird plant-extract that could possibly depopulate big areas, I chose to give it to the apthecaries, cause it is dangerous. The second time I just gave it my contractor because, well... What does it matter. Knowing that the ending is inevitable kinda makes many actions pointless
love gothic, love skyrim, am german. so there is no choice.
Exactly what I think right now :D
True lol at least there's a German version out there for ya haha
and the voice work of the german version is just the best!
❤❤❤
Have you tried out both? English and German. I really only hear about English and Japanese original games and I'm just wondering if the German version is better since it was made in German first. It's weird because I don't speak German.
I'm playing Enderal now. I loved Skyrim, only beat it once. I loved the dragons and shout concept. Skyrim was great, but Enderal has a much better story, is more relatable to the real world. alot more balanced and harder. it's fuckin sweet. I love Enderal
So to update on my comment bellow, I finished the game a while ago and i must say it wasn't what i expected to be . Like many trailers it does not show you how the game will be exactly so you cant really expect it to be as good. BUT MY GOD, it was way better than what the trailer showed me. I literally love this game (YES GAME) from the play style to the equipment , the NPC's , the storyline , the worldspace and to the freaking gambling game. I mean this is what would the love child of TES and Witcher series would look like. Its absolutely amazing, and now i hear its getting (or has already got) a new "DLC" that aims to add more content, more quests, etc. If you are looking for a good RPG game, try it now, you wont be disappointed.
Skyrim refuses to die. But the devs just screwed that up for PC users. If people call this better than skyrim then THIS GAME WILL LIVE LONGER THAN THE ONE IT LIVES ON.
i loved it too, alone the atmosphere was amazing i played it like 7 months ago ... is there now a dlc ?
This mod... it is just not fair... shaming bethesta like this... better music, better stories, better world, deeply fleshed out character. And thy did it by using their engine. Not even charging money. Aaah ya got me. I am kidding. SureAI ever become a A³-Studio i would buy everything they make if they keep true to what they have done in the past.
DasIllu Old comment but the music and world are not better.Skyrim music blows it out of the water, don‘t ever try to compare this to Jeremy Soul‘s Music who is probably the best video game music artist ever. He‘s also made the soundtracks for the KOTOR Series and all other TES Games
Spire Wolves the original comment was biased lol
Skyrim had better music but that's pretty much it. I agree that this is downright embarrassing to Bethesda in that this free mod is far better than the game Bethesda made. As I was playing Skyrim and wondering why some of the "towns" had like 7 houses and 11 people I was imagining something like this. Towns with a hundred or so people at least. Cities you really get lost in. Homes that have enough items in them to seem like actual homes. And such a better story and such better dialogue. Bethesda has got to be really embarrassed and very seriously hoping the casual player never finds out about this.
@@luminesence9536 It's his opinion. He's not wrong and neither are you. Jeremy Soule's music is fantastic; however, this particular user finds the Enderal's music better. He's not wrong or right. It's all subjective...
@@luminesence9536 the world is almost certainly better than Skyrim's Skyrim's world looked pretty... but as soon as you interacted with it the illusion just kind of falls apart. Almost every single quest feels disconnected with what's going on in the world and as a result feels like it has no consequence to the player. It's just "ok that happened. What's next?" On top of that the cities don't really feel like cities, and you don't really learn anything about Skyrim from interacting with its world other than Skyrim is vaguely inspired by Vikings, is in civil war and dragons are coming back to life. That's it. Enderal's world is so much more cohesive and compelling. All within the first few hours you find out that Enderal is falling into chaos. Bandits control most of the roads, almost every town outside the capital is abandoned or worse, and to top it all off there is a plague that's causing people to go insane. Not only that, but the society that inhabits that same world is deeply religious and conservative, and you get an intimate feel for their culture and how they are dealing with the consequences of current events just by playing the game normally. That is *much* more than what can be said about Skyrim's world building
Great to see another vid from you brotha.
this is a really great video, and eloquently summarizes everything i loved about enderal. the story was mature, intelligent, and refreshing. it was a new experience, but just familiar enough for me not to feel lost. as soon as i finished my first playthrough, i sat through the credits (listening to the absolutely gorgeous end theme--the whole soundtrack is astounding, download it!) and upon reaching the main menu screen, jumped right into another playthrough. definitely one of the best games i've experienced in a long, long time.
Loved this review im going to give this a try. Loved your comparion to open world story telling being similar to vinettes or a collection of short stories/anthologies really interesting and percetive comparison.
Welcome back Fevir, I been missing your content and vids. I struggle playing Skyrim, I might give Enderal a try though.
Jeez, heard everyone and their mother say this mod is sooo good. Might have to try it myself at this point, despite my skepticism
Did you try it yet ?^^
5 years later
Enderal is such an incredible game, I highly recommend it as well. You did a full summary without providing too much information, great video.
Just finished Enderal and what an amazing journey it was. This is what an rpg should be, full of story and emotion. This game has both and in a wonderfully visual way. Gratz to all involved in this masterpiece.
never seen your channel before but honestly described and explained this in a great way. you supported everything you said with facts and prior knowledge. you earned yourself a sub :D
great to see you back to youtube fevir, was wondering where were you since black desert
*SPOILER-FREE COMMENT* Finished this game less than 10 minutes ago, clocked about 70+ hours at lvl 55+ and done most of the sidequests and loved just about everyting in this game. This story, pace, characters, voiceacting and rebalancing/reinventing the leveling system was on another level of most AAA-rpg games now a days, heck even most games of all genres. Many games you kinda know how it is gonna end or how the story is midway. The good vs evil and black/white story that's all too common, but this game had me surprised and emotional even to the very end. My message to Bethesda: Take note! This is how you make a rpg with a grand story and gameplay! And it's made by some Krauts on their free time for Malphas sake! Big shoutout to the SureAI team, the voice-actors and all supporting teams for this wonderful game, and thank you for everything you have done. PS: My opinion would be best to play Nehrim, the full conversion mod for Oblivon, first as I did to get more lore, backstory and the world of Vyn. But it is not necesarry simply because this is a fullfledged game with all the lore and worldbuilding as you need. PSS: You'll get some donations when my next payment comes, be sure of that. I have sunk 150 hours into Nehrim and Enderal all together so you deserve at least a payment for full game(if not two for that matter).
"Skyrim: New Vegas"
@Channel07 Except yes. But for free.
@Channel07 Ah. I do agree on that. It is alike new vegas though, as in another team taking a bethesda engine and making a better game than they did.
Nice presentation, good game taste and super interactive with his community. You earned youself a new subscriber sir.
Hey Fevir! Love your videos and all that you do! Been watching you since I started playing Archeage (and dropped it pretty quickly lol).I know you don't usually do these sort of things, but would you consider ever doing a let's play? Thanks so much for the past two years of great content :)
Nice to see another video from you Fevir. Been wating :)
Whoa good news just bought skyrim last week and now a free game hehe!!! P.S. Welcome back, it's been a long time !
First off. There are a couple things I wanna get across. Why in gods name your sub count isn't in the millions I cannot mentally comprehend. The way you review is absolutely fucking spot on. Another thing, when I came across the trailer for this, I was on the verge of tears. Skyrim has taken so many hours of my life I'd rather not say how many, and here I was thinking I was done until the next ES game. Well fuck me, here we go again. Godspeed, Fevir.
I waited for years to play enderal, predownloaded it, supported SureAI and i was not dissapointed. I played it the first day it got released (i am german so the german version obviously). For my first time i needed 120 h +. Enderal was the 1. Game in my life, where i cried at the end. It was just such a beautiful experience. I will replay it in the holydays so :3
Man, missed your videos so much.
it has that Gothic flare in it? O.O ... I'm getting it!!!
I agree strongly with your comparison of Enderal with Gothic. I always liked the freedom of TES games but never felt as involved as in Gothic. TES games always seemed too vague to me. But SureAI combines in Enderal the strenghts from TES (Exploring, freedom) and Gothic (involvement, originality) to create a great RPG!
... and the leading author of Enderal is making a Gothic remake right now!
Can't believe how far out of the loop I am, I only just started this mod a couple weeks ago when it was randomly recommended to me on Steam. I'm not that far into it but absolutely in love with the dialogue and storylines, which is a must for me when I play an RPG. What really sealed itfor me was a moment in the game where an optional dialogue with one of the first characters I met led to us having a conversation about the role of intellectuals. It was literally a conversation that could perfectly summarize the point of one of my favorite books "Intellectuals and Society", by Thomas Sowell. My only complaints are simply the level up system and lack of fast travel, because I personally always loved the elders scrolls leveling systems, and the super convenient fast traveling in Oblivion and Skyrim. I'm not a fan of feeling as if my freedom is limited. I actually loved exploring Oblivion, Skyrim, and the Fallout games, aimlessly, but I also loved being able to fast travel back to town whenever I want, or straight to the location of a quest whenever I want.
I took my sweet time to play this game thoroughly, it is one of the best game I've play.
damn bro, its been a while since you posted. but as always great video
I finished Enderal 6 months ago. I still think about it from time to time. One thing I realized was how good the Elder Scrolls way to treat player characters can work. While games like the Witcher series have great storytelling, you are always experiencing the story of someone else. TES can make you believe that telling an amazing story without a predetermined character is impossible but Enderal made it work. Spoilers for the ending!: You are an incredibly powerful badass and you can decide what type of badass to be. At the same time, you don't really have control over the world as the enemy is always one step ahead. The player character being incredibly important yet inconsequential allows SureAI to construct a story around the player that leaves room to create your character how you want to without being restricted in telling a linear story. Many games hype up the idea that the players decisions matter but in most cases that results in the overall quality of the game decreasing. In Enderal, you are experiencing your own story yet it is still exactly the story the devs want you to experience.
-finally get over my addiction to modding skyrim- Fevir: hey guys check out this new mod -falls back into addiction-
Gothic mentioned - must play this mod!
Cool, I've had Skyrim for 4 years now and never played it past the first week I had it, but I might really enjoy this one.
Today i finished enderal.....i cried at the end...i can't even begin to explain the amount of complex emotions i feeled in this game, the only game i played that understand and makes a great lovecraftian inspired story, without being a horror game And as the video says.. I think about the ending after finishing it, and i could put the things i learned in the expierence in my real life, the message the game makes about mankind and ego, greed, selfishness and how every bad thing that happens is because we are idiots, egomaniacs who believe we are gods, and in refusing to be humble, we create every bad thing in the world I LOVE THIS GAME PLAY IT NOW
Oh shit! Fevir's back!
Nice explanation without ruining anything Got my sub
Enderal is love. Great work SureAI!!!!
What is it with you and broccoli lmao. Also nice to see you back from wherever you were.
How did I sleep on this game? I love it!!! Its so amazing, every aspect of it is truely amazing.
Fevir! You're back!
Great review!
Bravo gentlemen, Bravo! Long time waiting :)
Thank you for showing me this! :)
Awesome vid bro
played it for like 70 hours, incredible game ! :)) and the story is kinda mature and the end got stuck in my head for days..
one of the best video game stories i've ever played
You can just sit in a tavern, enjoy the drink, the conversation with people you (really) love, and spend hours just listening to the bard songs. I will buy TES 6 only when SureAI finishes the next mod.
it sounds like they're not planning another Vyn/Elder scrolls mod, but half the devs are making their own company and game. so might wanna stick around for that, but vyn's story is likely done, if you want more you'll have to play the older mods, or go read nicholas's book(s) about Vyn/Enderal (Jespar prequel)
just finished it. I think it may be my favorite or second favorite game of all time
bqgin how long did it take for you to finish it?
About a year but I had 7 months break and picked it up again this month
Arcane Fevir
Just by saying "It's kinda on overlap between skyrim and gothic" you convinced me to play Enderal. Gothic 1 and 2 are my favourite RPG's of all time, and enderal looks really incredible! I've been away from skyrim for such a long time, and these mod would be an awesome return for me! Really nice review, appreciate it very much
Good review, makes me want to give it a try
Enderal sounds like the suppository version of adderall..
Enderall makes adderall sound like a poison
This looks pretty ballin'. Some of the locales look a lot like stuff in Dragon Age.
This game is legit good, just started playing today and I felt like I was playing Skyrim for the first time, the story is very interesting too, amazing devs!
Wow I didn't even know how old this originally released I still hardly know anything about the ins and out of the game and I'm 10 hours or so in....It's been great
subbed! I like your review.
Was sold at "Skyrim meets Gothic". This looks awesome.
awesome man ! i'm gonna download it
I think they are actually thinking about founding their own studio, so maybe we're lucky and will get some great, standalone RPGs in the future by them :)
Really like oyour videos and opinions. Can you please, say one last time about BDO? With the "P2W" stuff?
Can't wait to play this. I loved Nehrim. There is also Arktwend on morrowind engine if anyone is interested. Haven't played it though so don't know if it's any good.
Arktwend has it's moments, but you can see that the team wasn't that experienced back then. ^^
Enderal is going to blow your mind then :)
At least tell us where were you hiding all that time. Gr8 video as usual
Great video, thanks
I liked your title so much that i came here just to like the video aka the title
Fevir recommends. Will download.
Set talenpoints 300 Type console command and you can add perks point in enderal and other command such as "goldcoins (player.additem 0000000f or "godmode (tgm)" are most of the commands are same in skyrim game.... Hope it will helpfull.....
6:48 alduin patiently waiting for u to play the game for 20 days, get daedric equipment and learning some shouts then continue the main story until he decides to start doing his part (sry for being talkative)
Eyyyyyy, he's back
enderal was an emotional rollercoaster
Hey Fevir! I feel like most mmorpgs nowadays have a completely different core audience than the classic mmorpgs. It seems these games are more about having competitive pvp and pve, rather than actually having role-playing elements. The last mmorpg to give this feeling of role-play for me was WoW. That game was soaked with theme and lore. It was great, although the game has changed alot since. Mmorpgs these days don't seem to have that. The world, theme, lore are just sort of backdrops for a lobby for the competitive scene, whether dungeons, arena, or straight grinding like BDO. There is no sense of playing a character or role in these games anymore. Any thoughts on this? Maybe we can get another video of you analyzing role-play elements in mmorpgs? :) love your videos btw.
A very fair review.
That Vindsvept background music, though.
He's BAAACK!
I might actually redownload skyrim because of this, thanks
Loved this game. It's amazing
this game looks amazing, i havnt finished all of the skyrim stuff( iv done the story, dawn guard, and dragon born) but i really wanna play this game, im not sure if my pc can run it, i dont have a great pc, or graphics card, but ill try, it looks really good
also, i have sse, does that work with this?
do you mean Skyrim Special Edition or Skyrim Script Extender? ^^
special edition, i saw somewhere that enderal needs skse so...yea ill need to get skyrim
I got Skyrim but never pickup to play... now I have a motive to do so...
Very good review and very good game. I agree with pretty much everything stated in the review.
6:51 That caught me off guard lol
After playing enderal, I can't help but wonder if even skyrim special edition will look as good as this did. Surely it will after the modders get ahold of it but vanilla special ed? Really not sure
The best Story a Gamer ever served me.
I missed you, boo.
Nice vid true friend
I'm going to tell you I don't think I've ever seen a game like Skyrim with these mods in my personal opinion it Rivals Fallout 4 and Elder Scrolls 6 should outdo probably both of them
I agree with you, Sureai deserve to sell their production. The thing that make me sad about Enderal is that it is free. A game with such quality deserve to be sold 40-60€ and have it's own engine !
Hey Fevir! What mods would you recommend to use with Enderal?
Just finished Enderal and I do not know what do with myself. How do I go back to the real world? HOW?? Enderal is so.... livid. Like you connect with the characters. The story, it makes you think. Your choices are real and significant. You are more than a doll doing stuff and walking around. I felt like I wanted to be there. I got scared shitless, I got euphoric, I got sad, I got happy, I cried for buddah's sake! And I have played Skyrim many times and I love it, trully do. But Enderal... Enderal is like a great book, you devour it and live it. Feel every word and every turn of page. You get in sinc with the charaters - at least I did - and I just know, when I go to play it again, I will feel everything even more. Will find even more deep meaning stuff. And damn I want it all again.
The second playthrough was better than the first for me.. although they were 2 years apart. Glad you enjoyed it - if you play other RPGs are there any others you'd suggest?
I was thinking Gothic the whole time, and than you say it... Can't agree more, I get goosebumps just thinking about Gothic
I got bored with Skyrim before I even finished the main quests (never even started the dlc's), same with Fallout 3and 4. But I am lvl 20 on Enderal, and totally into it. Seriously, puts Skyrim to shame.
OMFG YES, time to blow the dust off my skyrim game
Battlefield 2 had plenty of standalone mods like this, such as Point of Existence 2 and Allied Intent Xtended...really impressive what modders are capable of and more importantly the games that make modding possible. There hasn't been a Battlefield after BF2 that possesses the same modding capability :(
Fevir! Have you looked into Revelation yet? omgggg :D
Enderal Is Skyrim's fallout new vegas in that its a totally new game with the same engine. And actually its a decent comparison as Endreral is more linear, not totally finished and has better writing also like New Vegas.
looks pretty good..what about vampires and werewolves?
This game was really good, its storyline is amazing.
Just started this today, so far I've been killed by a mud elemental, a wolf, a spider, a skeleton, and a cow. And I'm only playing on expert. 10/10 - can't just start off running through everything in your path and healing real fast. Gotta love it.
