Modern gliders have some amazing instruments to help the pilots both navigate and get the most performance out of their aircraft. This is a quick tour around my sailplane's instrument panel explaining what some of the numbers and information means. Hope you enjoy and I always enjoy your comments! Bruno - B4
Why does flying in this look so relaxing and terrifying at the same time
Haha - because this is exactly what it really is. Tell you what - flying gliders is one of the ways to REALLY feel alive! It is an amazing experience being over a hundred miles from home base, storms in between you and home, the day starting to end, and you have to figure out how to make it back home in the dying thermals. Amazing! Take care.
a glass cockpit in a sailplane is a thing of beauty - what a nice panel you have
I got cross eyed watching the ball, arrow & other gizmos winding around the vario scale. Thanks for the tour!
Awesome! I'm not a glider pilot, though I've flown in several and taken the controls lots of times. It's great seeing the technology and how it helps the pilot. Very cool.
You're my favorite glider channel I just got two gliding sims thanks to you , and probably will pursue a glider rating, definitely on my bucket list
Do it, you won't regret it!
Thanks - do it!!!!
You're natural. Keep it up!
Nice...My favorite soaing instructor!
What a View, love it...
HEY BRUNO AWESOME flying seee ya soon great video
I've wanted that video for years, thank you at last! :-)
Haha - was just for you. ;)
I am a glider pilot and your video has made me rethink how many mechanical gauges do we really need? I think that we should put more effort into battery backup to power the electronic instruments.
Nice!
Hey Bruno Bravo 4 quite enjoying these video's in 4 k through my VR headset , In fact your flight from Heber to Uinta Mountains was the fist glider flight I watched , Iv watched all most all your videos and I must say as scary as gliding looks it also looks thrilling so much so I put my application In for the Utah Soaring Association and I will be getting my Powered pilot's license so I can hopefully give you a tow and some day join you Soaring over our beautiful mountain's in Utah I'm from Ogden BTW!
Awesome! Welcome to the club and I look forward to flying with you hopefully next year. You will love it!
What do you need to do to become a glider pilot ? What kind of training do you go through. Similar to a PPL ? Love the videos and explanations and.... The scenery, oh my!!
Hi Bruno, great channel and really enjoy your videos! How quickly/easily could someone move from a regular 2 seat trainer to a machine such as yours? What would be a good model modern glider to purchase (secondhand)? Many thanks, keep em coming! 👍
LS4 is second hand enough to be a great glider buuuuut never flown one. But everyone seems to love them.
ive never flown a glider ive flown cessnas, i have hundreds of rc planes n gliders ,but im absoloutley hypnotised by these vids i go to sleep watching em the freedom of flying the skys like a fukin eagle is awesome as shit , after covid im joining the local gliding club here in australia, can u pls do a walk around on ur glider bruno and type and cost of the bird? thanks from a aussie fan
Coool
How do you keep clear of air traffic as you fly, turn, and climb?
Can you explain what all the graphics are on the curved part of the upper vario (the triangle, ball, bar, etc)? It looks a bit overloaded with stuff.
*And this is my R2 unit...*
Hi Bruno, what type are you flying? Mick
I think the vario you mainly talk about is a Butterfly (then Air Avionics, then not available) vario. Nothing mentioned in this video would explain why you bought that as well as the LX which you said you use for audio. What info from the Butterfly do you find more useful than what you get from the LX?
Great question. Easy answer. I obviously forgot the model number of the LX. Is is an older V70. I purchased the Butterfly for the artificial horizon (works rock solid!) and for the instant wind arrow. I like both varios used in combination. Hope that helps.
@@BrunoVassel Thanks. I have an A-H in my LX9070. I like the idea of the instant wind which so far only Butterfly has ctacked. I just upgraded my LX9000 to the latest touchscreen version.
What is your stall speed in the climb config?
Desert thermals are pretty turbulent/gusty so we often fly 5-10 knots above stall speed in climb config. With a full load of water I am thermalling around 58-60 knots and dry around 53-55 knots. In a 45 degree bank angle in calm air loaded with water the stall is probably around 48 knots.
@@BrunoVassel thank you for that information Bruno! I like your videos. Please show is longer videos again 😃👍🏼
how high have you ever been is this gods world or do the go pros and barrel lens tell the truth ach a luv it way up here way ye thanks for being such a great sharing spirit of a man hurry back to terra firma always stay as cool as you are wers my chute n my seat is it behind or a one man flier
What in the hell...
?
How funny. He shows us his instruments and we cannot see them. He tells us what they do and we cannot understand him. This is obviously for fellow pilots who already know this stuff. For me, who may not be the brightest bulb on the tree but who isn't stupid, it was pretty unintelligible.
