  • There is something about kids that always close to Tommy’s heart. Sentimental.

    • "Kids these days... They didn't fight, so they get to stay kids." Tommy admires the naivety and innocence of children, since he saw far too many boys lose that in the war.

    • Yes he does. :D He also admired motherhood to a degree. He told Ada to protect her second child from him, he admired "The Dig Beth Kid" for having a surrogate mother (I think his older sister) who made his pretend gun and gun belt, he admired Lizzie allowing herself to be close to Grace's son by him after Ruby died; and again about his admiration of naivety of children, he tried to preserve a little of Finn's innocence when Finn was in the danger of that car bomb by telling Finn not to "try to be" him.

    • The exact line is “They didn’t fight. So they’re different. They stay kids”

    • @@mixtisoreviews6880 Ah, thank you. I was close enough to get it across, I think.

  • This scene showed us so much depth. First, lovely to see Ada. ( im in love with her). But we knew she was always against Tommy's business from the start, but she slowly came back. She understood early on (bc she learned from Polly) you can't leave the business. Plus, her lover died, she knew it wasn't Tommy. But she still resented him for it. Ada was always the smart one, she wanted a simple life for her kids. This scene really proved that can't actually happen. We see her later on go back to the business as acting manager when Tommy leaves. As for Tommy speaking about the 10 yr old boy, we see his inner conflict rise to a new level. Because he was getting more involved with politics, he believes this kids blood is on his hands. When doing business the old way, like early on in the show, innocence of the youth was preserved. But this is the first time Tommy learned that this weakness can't hold up in the end game, and ofc as he goes farther down this road in politics. He can't have these limitations, foreshadowing the "I have no limitations" as a seasoned politician at the end of the show.

  • It sucks that around this time not even polly and ada's words would pull him out of it

  • It is messed up how doing what you think is right can have negative consequences while doing the opposite doesnt.

    • Not really. Believing being "right" affords you any form of control or "fairness" over life is the epitome of human hubris. We're merely animals, after all. Thankfully, putting AI in charge shall fix that for us.
