  • That thumbnail speaks volumes as to the legitimacy of this video. A super carrier with the island in the middle of the flight deck. Priceless.

  • Amazing video, well done to all involved. I did 4 RIMPAC when I was in the Australian Navy. My 1st was in 77 on HMAS Melbourne CV 21, the other 3 on Destroyers DE's. This video brought back many memories and it also shocked me at how far technology has advanced. To all.... Fair winds and safe seas. ❤⚓

  • I'm so sick and tired of these videos that only show the aviation side of an Aircraft Carrier. I was on the USS Forrestal for 3 cruises (the last 3 cruises) and ships crew was about 3200 and the airwing was only about 2000. If it wasn't for the ship's crew the airwing couldn't do their job yet none of these video show anything about what the black shoes do to support the airwing like make water, make electricity, take care of sewage, provide medical and dental care, resupply food, provide the cctv system for entertainment, etc, etc, etc. I earned my Surface Warfare qualification on the carrier and people would be blown away at just the engineering part of operating an aircraft carrier let alone everything else I needed to learn about.

An experience I will never forget and neither the amount of admiration I gained for these men and later women spending months at sea defending our freedoms. I will always admire them and the people who designed and built these marvels of engineering...

    • Don't know what you're talking about, the Forrestal never had women stationed on the ship during a deployment. We had women from reserve squadrons on board during training ops (not deployments) but the last time that happened some idiot was trying to drill a hole through a bulkhead to watch them shower and they were promptly flown off the ship. I'm pretty sure they were trying to get a look at a pretty blonde that everyone noticed.

    • Now imagine the impact a sinking of the US carrier would have? China thinks that by doing that they will run fear to our bones and make us heel and abandon our Pacific allies.. Chinese obviously haven't heard of the attack on Pearl Harbor. We get mad and invent world ending weapons when faced with massive casualties.. We don't run in fear.. Although looking at the current generation combined with the maniacs from MAGA that support Putin more than our President, who knows. Maybe we would run, or kiss Xi's feet (not us but the Orange Buffoon of course).

That's a good starter to keeping morale up . 😂 I spoke to a guy who had been an Army private or corporal in Vietnam circa '68 - '70 . As part of a platoon going out on 'recon - by - fire , largely ... He told me a chopper would do their best, while they were humping in the bush , to , along with bringing ammo , food , clean water, medical supplies, and airlifting wounded back ... They would usually bring a can of ice - cold beer in a big ice chest , for Everyone . All kinds of smear jobs were aimed at Westmoreland while I was still a juvenile , but he was certainly concerned with the well being & morale of the Soldiers & Marines under his command . Can you even imagine ? What other nation has ever gone as far as to give COLD beer , most days, to sweating guys in some crap hole, a message that we care about you , like that ? If Americans vote for politicians that ask or force men to risk their lives , everybody back in Happyland should make a little sacrifice .

  • Nuclear-powered naval warships are just fine, except they must restock food at fairly frequent intervals, and, in the case of aircraft carriers, restock jet fuel as well. Plus... I do not see how, in a real-war situation, gargantuan ships like the USS Ronald Reagan can possibly avoid being struck and sunk by submarine-launched torpedoes, or anti-ship missiles, or drones, or attack by stealthy enemy aircraft. Or all these threats at once, no matter how many screening ships surround her. I just do not see how the cost of aircraft carriers is to be supported by strapped taxpayers like myself. This is how the Roman Empire collapsed; from within, because the taxes just grew to the point where the citizens could not pay them. Better take notice, USA; your leaders just never seem to learn from history.

Are we as a nation ever going pull our heads outta where the sun doesn’t shine ? And the sad reality is that we are letting it happen . We’re the ones who have to put a stop to all of this stupidity that the government ‘is doing on our behalf’ . Otherwise we will wind up as a 3rd/4th world nation like most of the countries . One last thing , we need to force the government to physically secure our borders and stop illegal immigration .
