what a thrilling finish! Catching Freedom was fantastic, although i was rooting for Track Phantom i was quite impressed with how he ran!

Catching Freedom if sound will make a lot of noise this triple crown cycle . To close this way on a slow track is awesome
The fact that Catching Freedom closed on a very slow pace was most impressive!
time was super slow...... no competition
race was very slow overall on a fast track, and that is evidenced by both the final time and the fact so many horses finished within 2-3 lengths of the winner. Track Phantom, who is an easy toss out in the Derby was only 2 lengths off the winner at the end.
I hope Catching Freedom is okay. He was favoring his back left leg after the race.
I noticed that he bunny hopped when he was being pulled up after the finish. I hope he's OK too.
@@WildernessForever yes, I hate to see this. Memories of Barbaro and the Preakness. The bunny hop stopping and the lifting of the leg, in Barbaro's case it was broken.

Catching freedom if the pace us slow or even moderate has a shot in the Kentucky Derby .pace makes the race . 🐎
The time will be slow when the winner had to go six wide around the final turn and was bumped as he started his stretch run. Don't leave Catching Freedom out of your exotics.

Was that Jerry Bailey saying that he didn’t think he’d wear roses in Kentucky? He might have forgotten this was a mile and 3/16th. Calculating the fractions, it looks like it may have been pretty good for a first time going that distance. I think it was a decent time. The big question I wonder is: can he run that kind of a race at Churchill Downs? There’s a possibility there.

You won't see a 48 half mile in the Kentucky Derby. I suspect he will be closer at the top of the stretch. The Beyer was a 97, probably a little higher than I thought. No 3yr. old, eligible for the Derby, has run a real fast time this year. He's in the mix as a contender. I suspect the Derby favorite, whomever that will be, is going off at 7-2, 4-1 at post time.
@@capiche7396 Since this Fierceness ran a 110 in the Florida Derby. A fast pace up front will help Catching Freedom and Sierra Leone. If it's muddy it will be hard for closers.

I think if he would of not hung so far back, he would not of had to turn on the afterburners so soon and run out of steam,..I think a different ride this horse could win the Derby.

This race was run at a mile and 3/16. Does anyone know what the splits were at 1 mile and 1 1/8? At 3/4 the time was 1:12.54
He would've done mile 1/8 in 1.50 which is moderate time to go to the derby

Great race. The Kentucky Derby this year will have some very competitive horses, jockeys, and trainers. According to the stars there will be a long shot winner that will win this year's Kentucky Derby. I will not reveal the name of the horse at this time...I can tell you this though, the horse will be assigned an even number when post position are drawn. 😉

These pick 5s are getting so easy to hit. All you have to do is use the juicer trainers in your ticket. In this case, two out of the top three juicers in the country won four out of the last five races on the card. When I handicap, I check the juicer trainers in the race first. Pace, track condition, post position, class, etc, all comes second.
