HOMEMADE DOG TREATS | easy DIY dog treats recipe
Homemade Dog Treats is an easy DIY dog treat recipe made with just 6 ingredients; peanut butter, pumpkin, almond flour, egg, cinnamon, and turmeric! If you choose to make the optional glaze, you’ll also need some coconut oil. My dog loves their peanut butter flavor and softer texture; perfect for older dogs who don’t like super crunchy dog treats.
My dog loves his homemade dog food so I thought it was time to make him some homemade peanut butter dog treats! I hope your pup loves them as much as Charlie!

HOMEMADE DOG TREATS | easy, DIY recipe
1/2 cup peanut butter
1/3 cup pumpkin puree
1 egg
1 1/4 cup almond flour
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon turmeric
Glaze
1/3 cup peanut butter
2 tablespoons melted coconut oil
1/2 teaspoon turmeric
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with a silicone baking mat or parchment paper and set aside.
In a medium-sized bowl combine peanut butter, pumpkin puree, and eggs and stir until well combined. You can use a hand-held electric mixer if preferred.
Add in almond flour, cinnamon, and turmeric and stir again unit everything has come together into a dough.
Scoop a heaping teaspoon of dough into your palms and gently roll and shape it into a disc-shaped cookie. Place on the baking sheet and continue until you have 20 cookies on the tray.
Use a fork to create a crisscross on top of each treat. It helps if the fork is wet so it doesn’t stick to the dough. Bake for 20 minutes or until the dog treats are set and golden brown around the edges.
GLAZE
Combine peanut butter, melted coconut, and turmeric in a small bowl and mix well. Transfer into a small zip bag, remove all the air, and seal. Cut a tiny piece off of the corner and drizzle the glaze over cooled dog treats.
NOTES
If the batter feels sticky, dip your hands in cool water before forming the dog treats. This will make it easier to shape the treats as they will not stick to your hands.
Store in an air-tight container on the counter for up to 1 week, in the fridge for up to 2 weeks, or in the freezer for up to 3 months.

Hi, I just wanna let you know and everyone be careful with the peanut butter that you choose some contain xylitol which is toxic to dogs. My dog went into renal failure and died because someone shared their peanut butter which contained that toxic ingredient, look at the ingredients. Thank you for sharing this recipe.
I'm sorry for your loss. Thank you for this very important information.
@@DiannasHomestead Thank you and you are so very welcome.❤️
I’m so sorry and I checked mine! ❤
I HOPE YOUR COMMENT IS PINNED. TYFS!!!🥹🥹🥹
I'm so sorry for your loss 🙏
I used to make all of my dog treats for my dogs but I lost my last dog in 2017 and since then have not been able to replace her . She was on a grain free dog food cos my dog had allergies to corn . So I made her treats .I'm allergic to peanuts , so when I made her treats I subbed in Sun-butter ..she still loved them .
When I make homemade treats I use whole oats that I blend and it makes a great flour
Great idea!
Less expensive too
and almonds can hurt your dog
Is that the oats from oatmeal?
I just made the dough came out perfectly! Smells delicious! ❤
My pooch is diabetic! I wish I could make him treats like this still! Thanks for sharing!
This one is for all of our furry friends! I hope your pup loves them as much as Charlie does. XO - Dani
Don't give them to dogs. Many children are hungry and malnourished in Africa and Asia
Hi Dani! Such a nice treat today, and Charlie is a cutie! 😍 Thank you, sweetie!

Anytime! I hope they enjoy them.
Thank you! I love this!
It's my pleasure! Thanks for watching.
Thank you for sharing this video
i loved it! ❤
This looks like a great treat recipe, the only thing I'd be careful with is using turmeric as it can act as a natural laxative for dogs with sensitive tummies, even in the smallest amounts. I have learned this the hard way.
That could be a sign of an allergic reaction for your dog. Turmeric is safe for most dogs in small amounts but some are sensitive to it. Cinnamon can carry the same caution. My dog has tummy upset if she gets it so I will omit both spices.
Great video. Thanks!!!
Hi Dani our dog Ma Lin loved these biscuits 🍪 thanks 😊 for sharing recipe

Hi Dany, cant wait to make it for my shih tzus. Can you show a few more dog recipes too. Thanks.
I hope your pup enjoys!!
Finally a treat w/o flour. I’ve made our 3 packs food for 3 years. I use the crock pot. They thank you in advance. Elizabeth
Can’t wait to make these. They look way better than those store-bought things that you have no idea what the ingredients are Thank you.
🦴 🐶 🦴 I took a leap of faith that I could make these into dog bones with a cookie cutter and they turned out so good that way!! It was so easy to do! This recipe is awesome!!! I have a batch in the oven right now and I can smell the cinnamon-pumpkin-peanut butter flavor and it is just delightful, I might have to try one lol. Thank you for an amazing recipe 🤗 💖
Hi Dani, I love your recipes for people, so I'm excited to try one for my puppers. Can you please tell me how I would substitute oat flour for the almond flour in your recipe? Thank you.
You talked about what all natural P B you like. Could you post what brand PB do you use. Thank you. Great idea
HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHARLIE
Thank you!
Oh Yay! Thank you so much for doing this!!!!!!!
It's my pleasure - I hope your pup enjoys them!
Hello can we use all purpose flour! By the way thank you love your video
Thank you very much, one of my dogs has no teeth 😭 we adopted her she was neglected and the vet had to removed her teeth 😔 I’m making this for her 🥹 thank you 😊
I love bloopers and totally understand! We just recorded our church announcement video... 😳 It's supposed to play today... We're so glad we're online today! 😬
So glad you can relate, lol!!
Can't wait to make these treats for Jack and Pup pup!. Looks easy, And Charlie really seems to love them. Thanks for sharing 💞 Watching from Eastern North Carolina ❤
Thanks for the recipe! Definitely be sure to use pure peanut butter. Some of the brands contain other ingredients that may be harmful to pets. 💖🐾🐾
Great reminder!
This looks amazing. Had no idea that dogs can eat peanut butter. I will make these for our entire family 🐯🐶🐻. Thanks for sharing.👏
Most dogs LOVE peanut butter!
Just make sure it's natural PB with no sweeteners.
We use doggy butter, no salt or additives
@@CleanandDeliciousDaniMost love coconut oil, too.
Happy birthday to Charlie! 🧁🥳🦴🐕🐾 My best friend has a dog that LOVES peanut butter, so I will share this with her.
Thanks, Craig! Next time I'll have to share the recipe for the b-day cake my son decided to make him!
@@CleanandDeliciousDani YES! I would love to see that.
Great recipe. I'll be making these. FYI, Turmeric must have black pepper to activate it.
Hi, I tried your recipe and they came really well and it's super easy to do, just a question how long they keep good stored in a container for biscuits? Since our dog is on diet and we give him only one treat per day, Thank you😊
Clean & Doglicious
LOL, love that!
I was hoping you were going to try one!
LOL - I should have! They are pretty much unsweetened PB cookies.
Great video! Just wondering if I can sub the egg for something? Applesauce? Thanks! 🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶
I don’t have a dog but this is soo cute
i can't wait to try this for my shihtzus, their birthday is coming up and well, they will take any excuse to get good treats! LOL thank you for sharing! although I'm hoping i can find almond flour locally.
Happy birthday to them!! I hope they enjoy them as much as Charlie seemed to!
Thank you for watching my video and I'm glad to hear that you are interested in trying out the recipe for your shihtzus' upcoming birthday! Almond flour can usually be found at health food stores, specialty grocery stores, or online. I hope you are able to find it locally, but if not, online shopping could be an option. I hope your dogs enjoy the treats and have a wonderful birthday celebration!
I don’t know if my dogs have an almond allergy! I really like the looks of these.
You can always check with your vet for the best way to introduce new foods to be extra careful.
@@CleanandDeliciousDani, thank you!
can i eat them too 😛😛🥰🥰🤣🤣? look good 👍’
will these treats last long ? also do they have to be refrigerated once made ?
Put shelled, un-salted peanuts in a blender, hit "whip" and make your own peanut butter, xylitol-free
Can you switch the coconut oil in the glaze for water or something else. I am baker with a coconut allergy and so much as coming in contact with something with coconut oil can make me itch. Can water be a good sub or something else be a good sub?
Could you do yogurt as a glaze?
What brand of peanut butter do you use for the dog treat? I’m not seein it.
Is turmeric good for any dog, small ones?
This ok for puppies
Love :))
What can be used instead of turmeric since I don’t have any?
The webpage wouldn't let me print it but I put in the web address for the printing myself and it worked.
Looking into this! Thanks for the heads up.
Can I use another flour replace the almond flour ?
Can I use regular flour
Can I use great value (Walmart brand) peanut butter? I looked at ingredients and it does not have xylitol in it
Hi there just wanted to run it by u that I got a little confused when I watched your video then I looked at your ingredients from below then I didn’t see any almond flour in your ingredients. So just letting u know I think u forgot to put almond flour in the list of ingredients lol but looks so yummy for me to eat cause I do something similar but I use almond butter and one more thing what kind of dog is he.? He looks like my Luna - she’s a labradoodle! But he’s adorable! Happy Birthday Charlie! 🎈
Thank you, Michelle! I just corrected that. I appreciate you taking the time to let me know. Charlie was a rescue (We got so lucky!) so we're not sure what type of dog he is - although we have a hunch he may be some type of Wheaton mix.
@@CleanandDeliciousDani your very welcome! And I’m so excited to make the dog food and treats today! U inspired me to do that! Happy Day😍
This looks like a good treat. Most recipes I've tried are too hard for my small dog. The Teddy Peanut butter is very good. Be sure the one you use is also free of xylitol, an artificial sweetener toxic to dogs.
Can you use pecan flour?
My grandpa hates me so I made these cookies for him and nothing changed.
Sorry I seem to have missed what temperature the oven should be at?
Almond flour it’s not the best for dogs. Can I use the same amount of oat flour or coconut flour instead?
can you add the egg shell?
Dani can I use coconut flour?
I would imagine you would need to adjust other ingredients for coconut flour to work as coconut flour is super absorbent (more so than other flours).
I could eat this myself. My dog will care to share
What brands are your ingredients?
I've made this for my dogs before. I just didn't add the tumeric. I thought tumeric needed pepper to activate it? I made this at Christmas and handed it out as Christmas presents for the other dogs in my life. It was a big hit, too. I just didn't make the glaze. 🙂
What a fun idea! What a thoughtful gift idea.
Is coconut flour okay?
How many calories per treat? Thanks.
Can dogs eat peanut butter?
My dog is 13 and his teeth aren't in very good shape. These will be perfect for him!🐶
Yes! These will be great as they are not super crunchy.
Why turmeric
How many cup of almond flour? I don’t see in the recipe.
1 and 1/4 cup - I just fixed that!
What kind of P.B is your favorite ?
Teddies! -> amzn.to/3JCug1v
Have you seen the price of almond flour lately? A two- cup bag of it costs$10!
You can sub with wheat flour if you prefer.
Or hempp flour
Can’t almonds be toxic to dogs?
Not to my knowledge- my research shows that almonds can be a nutritious addition when eaten in moderation. BUT always be sure to check your vet to know whats best for your doggie!
I made this but forgot the drizzle because I didn’t look at the video all the way 😭 5:14
I once made homemade dog treats for my late dog. She was a very greedy girl and would eat anything but she wouldn't eat the treats I made her lol. I now have a very fussy boy who is a very fussy eater. I think I would be wasting my time making homemade for him too unfortunately lol.
I love each pup has its own personality! So cute.
almonds are bad for dogs, I dunno what you are doing.. "Gastrointestinal distress: Dogs can't properly digest almonds. While consuming one or two might not cause any issues, too many can lead to vomiting, diarrhea, gas, lethargy and appetite loss. Pancreatitis: Almonds are high in fat content."
I've been doing research and it's better to use Oat flour for dogs, and an all Natural peanut butter with no sugar, no salt, no other additives. Make sure not to buy any brand peanut butter. Xylitol is very deadly for dogs. Please read the label on everything you buy especially for your pups and dogs.
Milkbones
I thought dogs shouldn’t eat nuts? Maybe whole wheat flour is better?
My research shows that nuts can be eaten in moderation BUT feel free to swap flours if preferred.
What is her site doing. 4 this chemical?
o.m.g see ys
If it doesn't have meat, neither of my dogs will eat them. They won't even lick peanut butter off my finger. I wish they liked it b/c I'd love to make them treats without meat.
I bet humans could eat this too
If you add a little sweetener it might be good 🤔🍪🐶
I’ll be apologizing to my pup for eating all his treats
My vet said never to give the dog cinnamon. It can cause seizures in some dogs. Tumeric can cause diarrhea. And as noted, the peanut butter has to be free of all ingredients but peanuts. Not the best recipe, here, Dani, unfortunately.
Digs can't have cinnamon
