The 'sticky steering' issue has now been fully investigated and remedied with a simple adjustment on the slip ring on the electric motor interface. No parts required, can be accessed easily by simply removing the steering cowl plastics. 20 min job.
can you give me more info on that?
second please give more info on this please
thank you very much!!!!
Can we get more info pleasseeeeeee
Video starts at 00:35
I love that everytime I search for BMW common issues for any specific car, your videos pop up. Great research, thanks a million!
Important correction on the sticky steering: this problem can still occur with the more recent versions too (up until 2007)! Somewhere in 2007 the steering column was replaced with a new improved version.
This is amazing you covered everything and its a perfect buyers guide
Thanks so much. You have so different and amazing opinions in cars it's helpful for me.
I’m looking into getting a 2007 3.0si Z4. Very informative video I’ll make sure to check these things out during my test drive.
Hello your comments are spot on for the Zed 4 enjoy your BMW reviews
Hey, very informative as usual, looking forward to more cars, i would really like to hear from you about some cars that are simply terrible and should be avoided at any cost. Would love to hear your opinion on such cars, or if you could make separate feature or something :) take care man and keep on making such videos.
thank you so much for this video I was thinking about buying one that is up for $5000 but because of all the good info you gave out I might think twice before buying a cheap version of the z4.
I bought a 2005 CPO BMW Z4 3.0i with 13k miles from a dealership in California in pristine condition spring of 2008. It was Sterling Gray Metallic with the Boston Red leather interior. I owned it for 8 years, and the only maintenance and or repair needed during the interim of ownership were oil changes that I chose to have done every 5k miles, a new set of Michelin Sport tires and an alignment at 34k miles, and a new top at 52k miles...that was it! Best car I ever owned. Sold it with 56k on the clock. Pure joy to say the least! I regret selling it when I moved from CA to FL. My advice...BUY ONE!!
Yea, but we have pretty brutal winter's here and it seems like if anything bad happens before I could pay it off, I'd be screwed
Thanx for the great video. I just bought one on Facebook marketplace. Ibought it with the top not working and the abs light on. Still happy with it
Just bought a z4 3.0si 2006 manual, seemed the best choice as most of the problems were fixed with this one.
Thank you for the video! Very nice! Greetings from Brazil!!!
I like your content man, good info.
Thank you for this. I have an 03 Z4 with 80,000 miles that now has the electric roof motor problem and the sticky steering problem in hot weather.
There are some videos about replacing the roof motor with a unit from a ford mustang. This also relocates the motor away from moisture, thus fixing a design flaw. Also the ford motor is much cheaper but you'll have to do the work yourself.
You can have the motor refurbished and put in the trunk
Hey bro i like ur reviews it is (diffrent car review) thanks
Great video!
Owned an ‘05 Z4 3.0 for over a decade only issue was a broken rear spring and needed a new battery in that time. Replaced the springs and switched to non run flats and the car now drives and handles better than when new. Love this car!! Turns on a dime, grips the road like it’s on rails, anyone test drives it will buy it if they can, it’s that fun to drive! I do also have the sport button which changes the drive, speed sensitive radio and steering.
Great video, however you didn't mention the various options that could come with the car like you did in your previous videos like heated seats, xenon lights, navigation etc...
just purchased 2004 z4 , wish i had seen your video first. i have sticky steering 78000 miles
Did you apply the fix mentioned above?
Great info.
Cheers :) Love the humor about cheap cars = it runs well photo lol too, just brought one of these, will see how I get on, only 34k miles and immaculate 2006 plate :)
My 03 Z4 runs like a champ.
I bought a used (20k miles) 2007 3.0 it was a fantastic ca r ran great, never any problems the 5 years I owned it. Would buy another someday. A 2008, love the rag top, 3.0si if you want one buy it. You will not regret it. be wise in your choice of used models I am lucky to have an independent BMW specialist as my mechanize.Good luck & happy hunting
Hey, great videos! Could you make one for the sports versions of certain cars? For example, in your video about the W220, you didn't mention the S55 and S65 AMG and in your video about the Audi A6 C6, nothing was said about the S6 and RS6 on the same base! Again, keep the videos coming, they are very helpful!
Of course, I will do separate videos for all of those cars, so you can expect Mercedes AMG, BMW M and Audi S and RS models in the future.
Perfect vedio... tq for info..
Awsome Siegfried!!
Great video like always ❤
Thanks!
Thanks Luv and Peace.
Thank you
Great music..fab car :)))
Please do a video with z4 e89
Hi. What about newer Z4?
As the commentator mentioned there can be problem with a 'sticky' steering. I have had various forms of steering going in a direction of its own especially at speed on a motorway, which is not the best place for this to happen. Often the ABS and 'steering' symbols flash up in yellow and then disappear. When this happens the steering becomes very heavy as if the power steering fails. But in fact there is not a problem and I have driven this car for over 7000 miles without serious mishaps. I have replaced all the bushes, the suspension system, the tyres (from run flat to normal) the window electronic motors and some parts of the body work which was lose. Expenses so far after 7 months of ownership: £3500 If you expect a smooth run, buy another roadster.
The same for me: ' I have had various forms of steering going in a direction of its own especially at speed on a motorway'. But only when I brake.
Hola me gusto su video, pero no hablo muy bien ingles, me podría dar su opinión escrita; para pasarla a español por favor, quiero comprar un BMW z4 o SLK 200,230 //2004-2008
Please do the second generation Audi TT Roadster
Nice
I love z4‘s Currently riding my fourth one😍
Krezo its a good idea to buy a bmw z4 with 200.000 kilometres? Guy said all the services have been in time
Leonidas the Greek if its a good price I just bought one with 202.000 km and it runs perfectly The ride has to be renewed (can get expensive) Which engine? I got the 3.0i m54 In our forum we got many member with 400k + on the m54 Great engine
@@Krezo200 the price is 4000 euros. The model is 2.5i sports cabrio, needs some work, tyres, brake pads.
@@Krezo200 u mean the engine? What u mean with the ride has to be renewed?
@@leonidasthegreek3468 okay 4k is not that much, its an acceptable price in my opionion, with "ride" i mean wishbones and suspension (they should be renewed every ~150 kkm) so maybe its already done, you should check it do you got someone who can help you out with maintenance (like a mechanic) otherwise you can get new wheels/tires on ebay for a good price if you got the 2.5i with 192 hp its a great engine, its the m54 unit which is one of the best engines bmw has ever built!!
Airbag light is also a common problem. Normally it's just wiring that's come loose from stuff rattling about during fast driving but it could be the pressuriser for the fast seat belt engagement. That happened in my E46. Easy fix but you need a BMW code wiper to make the light go away. I bought a Chinese one and it worked on my E46. No such luck on my E84. I Guess I have to gamble on Carli or pay a garage.
Is that SMG actually that unreliable? Considering buying one with 80k miles
Who knew Borat had a youtube channel.
My 2003 Z4 3 liter 6 speed manual has a rattling noise when the clutch is NOT depressed in neutral and when the car has run a while when the clutch is pressed in the noise is not heard. The dealer said it was normal and added a different type fluid to the vear box which made it quieter but not got rid of it. Please advice.
it can be the throw-out bearing
That is your DMF (dual mass flywheel)
great video, can u do audi a5 2008?
yes, you can expect that video in the near future
You left out that since some have 'posi' rear-ends, which have made stick-versions popular among the drifting crowd. The issue that arises is weak mounting of the entire rear-end assembly to the chassis, - the chassis sheet metal is too weak. Viewing the issue can be seen from within the trunk, over the differential area, where deformed or cracked sheet metal may be seen. The repair is not trivial, nor is retro-working the area so that issues don't occur in the future.
Could you give more insight concerning this problem? maybe a link?
Issue described here: kzhead.info/sun/ZN2cfrugrnmIn4U/bejne.html
Make on bmw 6 series
Buttery & water?
I had a nice low mileage 2005 Z4 for a few years. I never had any issues with it but I eventually sold it as I wasn't using it enough (less than 1500 miles/yr). I've been thinking about buying another one but after watching this video and remembering all the potential issues, I think I'll pass and buy a Miata with a retractable hardtop (PRHT). German cars are my favorite, but the older ones are unreliable expensive shit boxes.
Well these are manufactured in the US. Not that I know the difference it made for the quality though..
Z4 is the exception to your German shitbox comment
Is the person who talks in this video from Hungary? I really need to know about this accent
could you do the '10 to '15 Mercedes-Benz e classes
yes, in the near future
The chocolate and caramel cat says ohh lala
i want to buy this as my first car
good choice, it's a very nice car
Did you? I'm planning on doing it next winter
I don't know about the 2.2 but the 2.5 is a 3 liter
In the uk the 2.2 , 2.5 and 3.0 are all 6 cylinder engines of different capacities
nice pronunciation :)
👏🏻🇧🇷
HI
Oooh the new supra
Hello matey I lika your haircut vere you froma you from Poland ? Huh
Dang... I’m out on this car.... more problems than a college math book.
This is actually one of the most reliable luxury cars you can find. Very minor issues if any.
I agree with the reply comment very reliable car, do your homework before shooting your mouth off and did you ever open a math book?
Only that's all the problems? Fuck that.
All I can find is the automatic 😂
