Your techniques are awesome! I cannot wait til next time we meet, you teach me more :)
Let’s hang out soon!! Sparring Round 2!
i am a big fan of your intelligent incorporation of shaolin moves, like your Mízōngyì 3 step low kick, your crane opening of the guard and the foot sweep was very skilled. In some videos i saw you overextend the kicks of your opponents to break their balance, actually that is the reason in southern boxing these chain punches are usually done without complete extension. The elbows never leave the ribs and the wrist leave never the eyebrows that way a swing like from the Choy Li Fut would never make a threat. So did you reach an advantage with the extension to make a transition into wrestling?
Wing chun doesnt work with 16oz gloves. Thats like giving a judo guy 16oz gloves and tell him to do judo. Wing chun is no more than a close range grappling art that ends in strikes. More closer to judo and bjj than boxing. The chain punch is perform when the opponent backs away out of wing chun range. If your not connecting withthin 3 punches you lost it. Its not hammer fist its straight punches driving your opponent back with your base over your feet not leaning forward with your weight in front of your feet. Wing chun man doesnt clinch. Thats what biu gee for. Doing a chain punch from too far away your going to get shot on/taken down or long fist. I would love to see wing chun in ufc. Its a great addition to mma. i hope you can pull it off. Watch vitor belfort vs wanderlei silva ko.
Dude, you're a natural Wing Chun artist - much respect! 👊🥋
Yes Vivalaliberty it is pretty interesting blend he practices, i hope he keeps his health in mind no to end like choi in " Grand Master Kwang Jo Choi Documentary 3 of 5 "
I am so glad i dont see the stupid: "everyone has a plan until.." comment...
😂😂😂
"Everyone has a plan until they get...ahhh f*** it."
no, no, the eternal comment is: ‘this would never work on a resisting opponent/in a real fight/in MMA’ 😅 the authors of such comments are very wise warriors.
Everyone has a punch until they get planned all over the face
@@ttx3 i mean, depending on the video, those comments might be right
Jeff has shown a lot of growth as a martial artist. He went from going hard on styles he disagreed with to exploring their potential. :-) Kevin Lee is a great addition to the martial art community, especially Wing Chun.
Hey Kevin, I just wanted to let you know you got me in to Kali and Wing Chun. And not only that, my sifu guro was trained by Dan Inasanto and Francis Fong! For every armchair fighter in the comment section, know that you have also inspired others like me to pick up the arts.
Woah!!! Thank you!! I am so glad to hear this! I hope you are enjoying the training!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼
@@KevinLeeVlog I really have, even if it feels like I go home every day with a sunburn!
@@Deathbystrudel 😂😂😂 Welcome hia arts 😊😊😊😊

The human response to rapid attack flurries is not naturally effective. A lot of people actually do not have a good enough response to the flurry and just panic and cover up. U can also use this response defensively to have your partner panic when attacking. Its chaotic but does have a tactical purpose. At least from my experiences
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Mma guys and boxers will start sniping and moving backwards and say they did "decent" while you could have literally walked them down a corridor and out of a door if you get what I mean. I think if you can stand in a doorway and the other guy can't get past you, you are the better fighter
Definitely. That reaction happens due to lack of habit, since WC is one of the very few martial arts that throw punches so frequently in such a short time. Anyone who has received them knows how distracting they can be, block your vision, and make you defensive if you don't know how to react to them. Among WC practitioners, it is taught how to react to that wave of punches.
@@edtheangler4930Sniping isn’t bad, also you don’t need a ton of punches if with a couple of shots you can knock down your opponent. I think a boxer would definitely try sniping, and if they feel like they’re giving up too much ground they’d probably just accept eating a couple of fast punches to land a powerful one, whereas an mma guy would probably just shoot for a double leg or something
Wonder why you don’t get videos where people have to try and make boxing work, or Muay Thai or BJJ。
Great collaboration!!! Always love how Jeff tries new techniques and I able to pull off many of them in sparring. ❤🔥🔥🔥🔥
I believe Jeff can make anything work! 😝
When will we see a collab between @Sifu Nate and @Kevin Lee ? Lets have an all in Wing Chun-JKD session between you two!
Hi Sifu Nate, when will you collab with Kevon Lee?
This showcases the value of innovating upon traditional technique and mixing it up/into other disciplines so well.
On top of being informative and just all around fun, this was also wholesome af, everyone was learning while also having a blast and admiring/respecting each other!
It makes me smile whenever someone pressure treats the the art, even if they learn time hard truths and have to make adjustments. Guys like Rokas and Kevin taking traditional arts no one believed in and fixing them with modern training is awesome.
Always love seeing these moves pressure tested, great video
Thank you!
Kevin it's great how you can go add Wing Chun elements to different fighters' styles! Great to watch!
Love this colab. The respect and friendship between you is great to see and feel.
Love seeing the willingness to try new things from jeff!
This is great to see. Any martial art has something to provide for anyone’s arsenal. Good job guys
I noticed when wing chunners fought each other they'd always land in the clinch from chain punching. I always thought it'd be a fantastic distance closing technique for grapplers.
This is awesome, love seeing Jeff here
Wow Lee! Having Jeff Chan colab is great! Chan is a great guy and an amazing fighter!
that sparring was so fun and jeff really implemented them quickly!
Great session. I know it's a matter of teacher/school technique and preference, but my teacher was always wary of counterpunchers off of a chain, so I've been taught to use it as a means to bridge the gap - throw it out, but with low expectations that it'll connect, mostly use it to get in contact with the opponent's arms. That, or use it as a finisher. Looking forward to more. Great attitudes, lots of respect
The sparring part was very pleasant to watch and Jeff is always a good sport. Nice video!
the collab I've been waiting for? Hell yeah!!!
At this point I'm convinced that you could show Jeff even the most outlandish martial art style and he'd still be able to twist it to help him. Man is absolutely insane.
Great video really enjoyed the application of the techniques.
Super video guys. Nice of you to show that Wing Chun moves does work if you know how to adapt them. Keep it up !
Jeff is an all around great guy. So humble and open minded
Daisy chain punches are my absolute favorite and something I try to hone down. Like Jeff mentioned, it’s a bit awkward to do with chin down but still fantastic for high volume fighter 😊. Keep up the collab!
Thanks for this, awesome to see! I've also used the chain punch in muay Thai and got very similar results !
Woohoo!! 🔥🔥
love this crew
Oh boy you gonna see Jeff using chain punching in future sparring videos 😂and I can’t wait! Great video and analysis.
I live for all these collabs!
Hey Kevin, just want to say I love your content as it gives me a lot of time to reflect on my own Wing Chun journey and how I should go about improving. You give me a lot to think of when I train with my Sifu and give me the opportunity to seek out the knowledge one should feel confident in asking their teacher. P.S. I hope you do a cameo with the Karate Nerd!
I love how simultaneously aggressive AND controlled the sparring here was. I try to encourage it amongst my students all the time, get after it but don't leave any brain cells on my mats
Red shin guards landing head kicks with zero damage is very impressive control. GJ by everyone though, no joke. Solid stuff.
Jeff has tapped into an incredible market with what he does. He's aware, honest, humble & 100 of 1000s of traditional heads will listen to him. Awesome work Jeff, as an ex wingchunner myself it's glad to see someone Injecting some truth into the art
Wow. Jeff Chan? I am now a fan! That was a great video!
That was a fun exchange there. I like Jeff too, I'm one of his subscribers as well. Definetely worth checking his channel for those who don't know, I really like some his videos on JKD and stuff.
VERY GOOD! Excellent points and observations.
Sick to see Jeff try out some WC! Great video! 💪
i have been waiting for this crossover for so long
I've been hoping you guys would make a video together. This was AWESOME!
Love how he used the blitz over and over again and it basically always worked.
Great work Kevin. 💯💥
This was awesome, every martial art is amazing 😄.
Wing Chun mixed with MMA = 🤘 Thank you!
Wow, the collab I've been waiting for for a long time, let's go!
🔥🔥🔥🔥
I've learned so many "tricks" from these flights. It looked like a lot of fun!
Fantastic bro
Jeff the JKD guys really love the chain punch, their version the straight blast literally has you blasting your opponent with chain punch les while doing the 50 yard dash to overwhelm them with punches, speed and force. They often do exactly what you did either clinch up and go to the ground or clinch up and blast with elbows and knees. It works amazing in sparring This is a great video.
Man even if the stance naturally places your hands low, Jeff looks so cool in a pai jong. Thanks for a great video Jeff and Kevin!
Jeff is the man! Thank you for watching!
love how much fun you guys were having.
Gotta have fun!! 😁😁
First and foremost... This was beyond awesome. When using any of the trapping techniques, I tend to stick with the pak dar off the jab either with a split entry, over the top to the head, or to the body with a power jab. The lop dar or peel guard is a favorite as well. I use it with a sweep from the lead foot into an overhand. When I use the chain punch in sparring, I find I have the most success from either after I successfully land an attack from a trap or from a feint. Typically, I'll teep a bit, then fake it, hop in, drill with the chain punch and exit with either a side step and round kicks to the leg, body or head. Or, I'll exit with a side step and a rear hook to the body. Just my two cents. Again, love these videos from you guys.
Lmao the giddy look on Jeff's face when he charges with the battle punch. It's like when a kid discovers Ness in Smash.
Jeff Chan shall become a lengend. Pple will be talking abt him long after his death and beyond. He's among my top 10 best fighters. Thanx 4 this video, Kevin. Much love from Gabon 🇬🇦
I’ve never seen anyone JUMP a leg sweep so clean. Wow!
3:18 should be Jeff's new signature move 😆
Thank you for best fighting tips
🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
amazing video , this content for martials arts asking a people actually fight in mma or sport is that we need for group up as a community in all world , thx for this video
Awesome video! Thanks Kevin! Next get Jeff to use Dog Boxing in sparring. 😂😂😂 Keep up the awesome work, dudes, you guys are ace. 💯
Great video
Chain punching blitzes are food for the soul!
I LOVE trapping jabs with my lead hand, then i go into a hammer fist jab with it and then a stright right. It breaks the pace, especially because my muay thai coach teaches to parry their jab with your right hand and the throw with the right hand (orthodox). Or I'll angle to their left side and step in trapping their left hand down with a hammer fist then throw the same jab straight combo. I never did wing chun but we practiced similar trapping techniques at the hapkido school I went to great stuff when you practice it cause it really breaks the pace and flow for your opponent if they're not so quick to gain their flow and pace back 🙏🙏
Really cool lessons
i've always used Chain punching for making people go into defensive position in a disadvantage, and *that's* when you go into grappling or trapping or fake them out and then leg sweep, its very effective and gets so many people off guard for sure, its a great tool for pinning them down against a wall of when you're on top and they're on the guard, again forcing that devensive confused caotic state. works wonders, and if you get actually good at putting power behind them you might get a very good hit in which makes them even more weary of it going on. I feel like Jeff would be a great person to test the wing chun leg blocks effectively. You should teach him tan and bong gerk with the step-in next time!
that hook kick at 4:20 is a thing of beauty
The legend has it, Jeff is still cycling those hands to this day.
It sucks that the back fist and other varied strikes like the hammer fist aren't used more. Those weird off putting angled strikes found in a lot of traditional martial arts and even self defense programs. Great video!
Actually there is a video study on how Manny Pac throws his jabs which is like a back fist variation that shield his entry. Almost like a Count Dracula shield 🛡️
Hammerfist is effective, just not mainstream. As for the backfist, its angle of attack comes from the opposite side of the torso, so unlike a basic jab or cross it is harder to generate power from that backhand angle. It takes more coordination to do it properly with power.
@@screamtheguy6425 Spinning Back Fist is pretty common in Muay Thai.
@@stoopidhaters Yes there is that backfist. But I am talking about the one you see in Chinese martial arts.
Ridge 🖐 hand?
That cat with the red shin guards had some NICE kicks!!
They need MMA gloves to exploit gaps better, and he needs to hold a long guard at all times, and put constant pressure on opponent like Tony Ferguson did with Pettis in UFC. Because then he comes into trapping range more often and can use wing chun's techniques more effectively. And if he's not gonna use wing chun's elbow payload, he'll need to innovate and use boxing hooks instead. Wing chun must keep that 'phone booth' pressure on at all times. No retreat!
such a skilled guy! please try to teach him more, would be nice so see some of the technics in his future mma fights.
Jeff was retired at onefc.
Nice Video. The last technique, the Bil sao punch is easier to time if you focus heavily on landing the punch and just let the Bil sao do its thing, and yeh, keep the chin down.
Yessir!!!
I feel the third concept works the best when you concentrate more on attacking than defending. If you wait until you block the opponent's strike, you are already too late, but if you see your opponent clearly throwing something with a good opening to use, striking at that opening before the opponent's strike lands and then blocking is more likely to work.
I think you're right. Since you don't want to chase hands it might be better to just protect your gate and just go in for the attack.
@@thevillageyid its all about conditioning. If you notice a habit of your opponent you can try to counter it, but you can't be ready for every strike from every angle at all times, they say the human mind can only track 7 things at a time.
I enjoy practicing with a wooden dummy but for defense I like using George Foreman’s crossguard. I also like Jon Jone’s oblique kick.
It just goes to show how alien concepts in Wing Chun are. Things like "springy energy" that is behind the "simultaneous attack and defence", or "power from the ground", "eating the horse" and that there isn't a "slip back" or "level change" once engaged are missing in the 15 mins crib notes explanations... especially since gloves change which techniques are usable. It shows how important it is to teach principles rather than techniques. Also missing were explanations of footwork which are boring to practice but essential for understanding how Wing Chun works. This was the best that could be done with a short explanation!
I was waiting for Kevin to spar with Jeff..... =x
Hapkido techniques have been phenomenal for my bjj wrestling
Also mma discussion wise... do you think... the chain punch can generate enough power vs a regular counter overhand or something? I would like to see it practiced more and see if its really effective as well as useful in hard stressful sparring environments. I feel the chain punch is more to overwhelming the opponent to get the advantage ... what is its counter... what is it good for and when to use it
Good vibes😁👍
Good Training! 👊😎
Thank you!
@@KevinLeeVlog No. Thank you! 👊😎
OH YEAH!!!
I never use chain punch besides to train. It makes you faster with bridging and transitioning. But if you arent moving feet, hips, or transitioning and moving forward the chain punch is useless except in learning that stuff.
I enjoy the videos Kevin, I also train Jiu Wan Wing Chun, so our style is similar.
Ohhhh nice! Who is your instructor?
@@KevinLeeVlog My Sifu is a disciple of Jason Lau
❤
I have a sort of Wing-Chun-ish base from ages ago that works great in lots of situations but becomes exponentially more difficult (to the point I just change styles) if I'm wearing big gloves or my wrists are taped. I feel just as disadvantaged as I would if I had to climb trees in the same gear.
I know the feeling until I sparred with someone who found a solution to that problem. He is a strong fighter, a veteran, in his mid 50's, and is in everybody's fight camp by invite or jokingly being mandatory; he got the nickname "Wildcard" due to him being so unpredictable and somehow powerful at the same time. The thing was he never told me what he did, so I ended up just studying his movements when he sparred with other people. Just thought he knew some really good freestyle boxing from then on, where he keeps his talents on what he does a secret. It's probably due to it being some military art as to why he won't tell anyone. All he said though finally from the question was "Use your imagination" and that it requires "emotional content," which told me everything in hindsight. The "emotional content" of course made me think down the line of Bruce Lee, Ip Man, and Wing Chun. It hit me like a brick what he did after watching a certain movie that had Wing Chun though, he was using Deer Horn and Butter Fly sword techniques in a boxing-esque manner by retrofitting all of the cut and slash attacks, and he just "imagined" his gloves were the weapon. The same way that Eskrima implements their stick attacks into their way of boxing. It made further sense to me because your weapons are always out of each other's way.
very good video, second guy is more talented in distance styles like taekwondo. great testing!
Now that Jeff had a taste of Wing Chun, time to set him up with a Francis Fong session. Regarding today's session I'd just comment that it's not good to initiate the chain punches from a distance. It should be done in the range it's designed for, close up and when you've got his hands already trapped or as they're walking in as an intercept. It shouldn't be used as a hail Mary blitz from afar.
Damn, I need an action movie with these two!
Windmill punch has the same application as the double jab. DJ mighty mouse said that its good for "filling the void" between the fighters. Its to set up the hard hits.
It would be nice to see you on the usdc of rokas (self defense championship)
I don't know if he should be doing chain punch as a blitz...I usually think of the chain punch as the end of a combo, not the beginning. Using it as sort of "suppressing fire" on the way end is very high risk. He's a phenomenal athlete though, so its hard to find anything he can't get to work at least sometimes.
More than single techniques It would be really interesting to see an experienced MMA fighter or boxer/kickboxer learning incorporating and applying chi sao and chi gerk. If it works of course.
I believe angles are important when being on the receiving end of chain punches, otherwise you'll just be backing up blindly.
He done well
Amazing. Where is this studio located?
I really like 👍🏻 ❤ 💪🏼
9:12 oh nice!
Go take a title Jeff. Cuz you got it. ☺️💥💯
A lot of this moves reminded me of Tony, cool video.
Hell yeah Jeff
🔥🔥🔥🔥
3:52 see Jeff, and Kevin. The stuff does work. The problem is. Fights don’t end quick when we have pads on. So the wing chun translation to the mat is lackluster. I did see a benefit though. HE caught a PAK about half way through. Now, if Jeff is accurate, and I know he is. Without pads on. He’s recking anything he touches. Think BIG HITS power with those Jeff. 😛☮️💥💯
