we play a completely different version of handball in Australia. I was pretty suprised when i watched this.
Hassan Khan YES!! gotta love then slogs, twisting! havent played handball since high school 5 years ago haha
i was like shit thats not handball/downball/ 2 -square wtf is this??
I'm pretty sure australia's handball is the only real handball That's just hood squash
X Decadent how do you guys play handball in Australia exactly? I want to know how different it is when I play here in California
@@LifesGoodG well you have 2/4/6.... squares. And you stand in a square and have to bounce the ball once in your square and have it lend in another square. If you don't bounce it in your square, its a fool, if it bounces more than once in your square its doubles, if the handball touches the line then its lines and therefore play on.
I grew up in NYC, handball courts always packed from sun up to sun down in the city. The ball use to cost 25 cents, they lasted a day or two before they split open. You could wait for hours to challenge someone for a game if you didn't get to the park early. Great game, the best players are lighting fast and often scrap knuckles or palms on the concrete trying to make a shot. Best cardio workout you can get. Try playing this game for 2 or 3 hours on a sweltering 90 degree day in July! You will stay trim!
Yup das facts
My dad would tell me stories how he would come home every night with a bruised hand from playing so much
NYC HANDBALL IS A WHOLE DIFFERENT VIBE 🔥
Aye red bull I play this shit in my kitchen sponsor me
Isnt there already a game called handball? I play it in gym all the time.
Benjamin DuMez You're talking about handball like where you hit the ball on like squares right? over in Australia we do that aswell
Naw duhde thats 4 square
Im talking about like in Europe how they have handball like soccer but with your hands
Benjamin DuMez i agree
it's even olympic. why not call this sport hand squash.
This is the original handball I grew up with not that other sport.
omg hey!
Like your vids
Yeah watching the Olympics right now and thinking wtf is this?
@@mattpalmer3258 no bruh wth
@@mattpalmer3258 that “ other sport” is the correct way
I grew up in Queens and, 40 now, and I recall playing "American" handball and "Chinese" handball. In American handball you had to hit the ball directly on the wall; in Chinese style, we had to bounce it first. Any other New Yorkers remember this?
I still play Chinese till this day
This shit intense af lmao I remember playing this in high school
imagine him slap boxing 💀
Kiritogaming2 Damn😂
janky o1 aww thanks
Sio lmao
The other guy is fucked
I have played racquetball for years and have tried handball a few times but the hand-eye coordination is harder than it looks. Much respect to you guys!
1:40 - Milly Rockin’ on the handball court.
That's actually Gaelic Handball which has been played in Ireland for decades. The Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) is an official league that promotes such games, it's a pretty big league and community.
“Wallball/Handball is the greatest sport on Earth, very intense, very physical and it keeps you in superb shape, definitely the sport everyone should be playing.”
Bro you're not lying I played handball in 3 parks for a whole summer or ly bringing water with me I was 300 pounds when I started and I ended up at 185 pounds when it was time to go back yo school the cardio alone is super intense
ikr I really wish it was an olympic sport
This sport is already practiced in Spain for many years.
And England it is Hand Pelota in the Basque and Rugby Fives in England
This is really similar to a traditional game played in Spain, “raspall”. It would be cool if the American scene and Spanish scene joined up one day
Do what you do , because you love doing it. If you do something because you think it's better than what someone else does, or you think that someone else's passions aren't as good at yours, then you are already behind and losing in life.
29:00 The surprise ending kept me waiting to the end and after getting to the end it filled the satisfactory hole in my heart. Thank you
i grew up in the bronx watching my parents play this for years , they played every weekend with friends in games of 2 , it was intense and pretty cool to see. Now I'm 19 and live in orlando and no one here knows anything.
redbull camera team makes everything so cool...even taking a shit
Loved this game growing up in Long Island. Can’t tell you how many times we would look for change to go buy a ball and play. Wish it was in more of the us. Moved to NC and we don’t have any courts.
u mean squash with no rackets?
afiq jaffarran u mean shut the fuck up
Alfredo Morales 😂
Shomz you serious?
hand ball is something different outside the US lol-not considered a sport tho
***** I had completely forgotten about that handball lol. I was thinking the handball that you usually play in schools small rubber high bounce balls in squares
That's Squash without racquets. Handball is a team game with a bigger ball, played in Denmark.
+PageMonster its played all over europe :)

Handball in Australia is really different. Like, nothing like this game.
Yeah the International version of handball is the only one I've heard of again, I've never seen this before in my life...
It's pretty much only in the US it's popular.
Ikr it's so different, hi from Australia
William Kennedy its like football in the US and the rest of the world
"handball" like in Australia is called "team hamdball" in the US
respect man. not an easy game.
id love to see an anime about this
OriginalLuigimon ikr so awesome
yeo imagine a handball anime!!
An Aussie handball anime would be way cooler.
Check out the tennis anime
That would be gay
Man, I miss handball. I played handball everyday at lunch in high school. Fun times.
My favorite sport i played single or double back in the days late 80s thru early 90s in the BRONX. Those were my good old days. R.I.P. David Santiago (brother in law) taught me well and played a heck of a game.
Thats no handball?! Thats sqash without rackets!
***** no it shouldnt.

Prince Tae I just saw this video & I was peeping the comments. Sponsored by Timbs lol
I first started playing this game as a teenager in CYA (juvenile prison). Once you play your first game, you're hooked. Alot of fun!!.
I played in Bangladesh at St. Gregory's High School Dhaka since 1975 to till 1983 till complete my SCC year. We had total 3 courts that time & it was a great fun to play Handball, still i missed that game & i never found this any where at Bangladesh even i lived in Sydney Australia but did not see any handball court there i really missed this game very much. wish i could make my own in my home someday.....
wow man, this is slightly different from handball in queensland Australia - come down man and show us your stuff and we can show you ours - thousands of kids play Australian handballs every lunch and this will be an awesome learning experience.
Love videos like this, good game great idea, love things that bring people together from all walks of life 👌
Back in 1960's Brooklyn - when I was 13 yrs old - I was unbeatable at handball. I played about 15 games per day and was on the school team. We played with spalding balls. I would be at the school handball court an hour before class and play several games; then at lunch time it was back on the handball court for another hour. After school, more handball. Everyday.
When I was a kid me and some friends came up with a game very similar but we always played with more players and a little different rules. Was always a blast
This is awesome at a professional level
Idk what kind of handball that is, but the handball we play in AUS is a bit different. We have squares and in a 1v1 match up, the two competitors get in a square and bounce the ball to each other, using powershots and stuff to get them out, you lose if the ball bounces twice in your square, if the ball goes out of the square or if you simply miss it.
LA2 at for me we call that 4 square
Same as me just in court with 4 squares and 4 players
I love to see my ppl doing their thing Congrats on wording hard timbo you came along way
PS161 and George Westinghouse HS Brooklyn, NY baby cutting classes and playing hand ball was our thing Wilson Sagardia.
Yea, right. 'American Handball'.
We don't even call this handball. At least on the west.
Its played in schools in Australia
@Jayden Anderson So... what do you call it?
RealChinese Wall ball in Cali
@Moonshaake Thanks !
lmfao @ all these haters outside the U.S. Yes, it has the same name as other sports and may have been inspired by another sport, doesn't mean it's not it's own sport.
I agree with you but at least they could have called it with another name
Thank You!
Handball’s my favorite pickup, thank god I live in NY and there’s a court down the street from my house
Handball came before all those other sports
@@raulgibellini5961 You hit the ball with your hand hense handball... lol there is no international copyright on the name of the game
this brings back memories :) back in the early 90s I used to play this a lot at high school
I'm from queens. I used to stay in Bushwick growing up so there was handball games on every other court. This was the handball I grew up on so learning that there was another game called handball was mind boggling.
"is bigger than you think" Seeing this video pop up in my reccomended and reading the title, this is the first time i've heard of Handball outside of Elementary school gym class.
BlakejGG lol in elementary i played it at lunch for fun
This is played in every prison and jail in America so it is bigger then you think
This is an Irish Sport! Traditionally played in a court surrounded by 4 walls, 40x20
No the traditionally it was 60x30 and competitions are still held in that format. They changed in the 70s to allow for international competition
stoney71 Lets just agree its Irish
Jarlath Leonard I did not mean to be rude just imparting what i know.Yes its irish. In fact .Not promoted right in this country. Its never on RTE ,sometimes on tg4,but it needs to be promoted better. For the world championships in ireland a few years ago they presented the game very well .City west was kind of transformed into the center court of handball.
used to play in upstate NY and always dreamed of being good enough to get on those courts and play. someday maybe..awesome videos...NY rep
I remember playing this when I used to live in the Bronx, it's pretty fun tbh
When I was in elementary school, we'd play a game similar to this. Except we called it "Wall Ball." We used the same ball as these guys but we'd THROW it against a wall. If somebody caught the ball, then the thrower was out. But if the person catching dropped the ball, the thrower had to run and touch the wall. The catcher (if ball was dropped) had to peg the runner(original thrower) before they touched the wall. It was lit.
The Wandering Internet Wizard We called that "sting " in Boston. It has other names though
Ronold Cledor Thats interesting. What's also interesting is how children from around the world who have no connection to each other come up with the same behaviors, slang, and games.
We did that too lol but our main game was aussie handball
i played this all day everyday in prison hahah
I played all day n juvenile hall lmao 😂
Me too buddy
😳
Who always play handball in school with his friend?
hell yeah ! this sport comes from the basque country , we call it esku pilota ,we play it with a ball made out of leather and a stone inside of it ! i never played it with a rubber one, in here we have a line in the wall and if the ball goes lower than that is a point for the other player. i didn't know this sport was played in america, quite interesting.
When I was at high school here in England in the 80s we played this and yes we called it handball. Great game. all you need is two people, a cheap ball and the side of a building. The only difference is we would have a limit to how high up the wall you could go.
actually it's a traditional irish sport from the past.
still alive and well inireland
Sean Mcilvenna in the past handball is still played nation wide also there is a world championship every 4 years played all over the world
Was it played with potatoes?
Exactly, this game derives from Gaelic handball, which was similar to a sport played in ancient Egypt. This really is the oldest sport, and the first true Handball game.
this is wallball lol. handball is already a legit sport, and its way cooler than this
I guess its called wall ball or "American" handball. I vaguely remember my dad playing it when I was a little kid.
IMightyL Handball? You mean that sport that you're forced to play in P.E in the 7th grade? If it was so cool, everyone would remember playing this.
Gaelic handball it originated in ireland
Brandon Cosme maybe in the US in Europe it is pretty Big. Biggest Sport after Football. you should watch some videos, it is pretty intense. interesting to watch aswell since there are no long breaks
its not american tho..
Never would I imagine a handball video reaching 1M views. Amazing.
In cuba we play handball combined with baseball, we have the 3 bases plus home base we walk to 1 run to 2 walk to 3 and run for home,we use only 4 people 1 in each base plus the shortstop, amazing game 👌🏻
This is fronton a Spanish sport.
its basque but yeah.
The actual name is "pelota mano" (translated to handball) and it is played all over the north of Spain but mostly the basque country
yea man thats what i said. but yeah i go there alot to visit family and thats like their sport they dont even play it right in NY haha
The thing is that it is not as big of a deal as this seems to be, and i dont like the fact that the nyc version could be an "olympic sport" before the other is even consider
The modern game of handball originated in Ireland and Scotland. The earliest written record of a handball game is in the town statutes of Galway, which in 1527 forbade the playing of ball games against the walls of the town. On the west coast of Ireland, Galway had many trading links with Spain, especially the Basque regions, where the similar game of Pelota is played. It is highly likely that one game is derived from or influenced by the other. Irish immigrants brought the game to many countries in the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries. It is still played in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, Wales and England.
I used to play this in 4th and 5th grade then the teachers banned it because too many kids got hit in the fae
this game is legit! me and my friend thought wemade up this 10 years ago! this is cool!
this is the ghetto version of patball, which is the budget version of fives, which is squash without racquets
That's not Handball!! That's slapball Have you guys ever seen ACTUAL Handball?
Goriaas that is part of handball which comes from ireland and there is several types of Irish handball and this type is the most common in America
So it's squash without racquets. It's interesting to see all the different version of "hand ball"
It sure it
this is better than bumass squash
Greatest sport, closest thing to martial arts, hand to hand combat for sure, everyone should try
i remember going out to recess in my elementary school in NY, has a big brick wall and and a hill leadind to it... handball was what we played almost every day
it's a very old game played in spain and france... named pelote basque
So NYC is taking credit for a game that has been in Los Angeles for many years already?!
word.
This sport started in Ireland I think! It's part of the GAA
It's an Irish sport you gobshite
Paddy Walsh You think, or you know? All i know is that the Hispanics in prison have been playing this for many decades.

Been playing this since i was a kid. We called it Patball in England i guess around the world theres different names for it.
They're not going to the olympics because this is not handball
Its going to be called wallball
***** Yes ,but i am not sure there is any danger of that game making it to the olympics and being confused with handball.I know of a woman involved in handball in ireland who is trying to get it into the olympics. They are number of associations that govern handball and there are coming together to try and get into the olympics and wallball is the name they are going to use.Outside the olympics they call the sport handball again.
+Ihavejust Roastedu and then theres redbutt where you have to hit the player to get him out, and thats why handball got banned in my school in any form :p
stoney71 i play handball but in a court with four walls not one
potato Its the one wall version they are trying to get into the olympics. The irish are much better at 4 wall than one wall.
Best handball training facilities are state prisons.
GOTTA LOVE IT!!! ONE WALL HANDBALL RESPECT TIMBO😆😆😆
I just picked up a handball, and use it to work on my baseball pitching. Now, I’m interested in the sport itself.

No this is handball stupid. And i aint coming out to no other country. Usa is the best!
Anyone from NY can tell you what Handball is. Mad popular in the 80's and even more so today. There are courts everywhere from NYC to the end of Long Island.
handball is a actual sport, and it looks nothing like this. americans love to just name their sports after others with no little respect dont they?
Marco Couto lol this is just ghetto. I play handball with a playground ball and you hit it on the ground and it bounces off the wall. I have nevver seen this handball before it is very wierd
Marco Couto shit never new it was "handball", growing up out here in the Southern California it was just something to pass up time. Kids new it more as a prison sport... we just didn't have money when we were kids to buy recreational balls for actual sports
Marco Couto
Marco Couto we don't go around checking other countries to see if names are the same. It's not a huge deal bro relax. Different cultures have different names.
Marco Couto We get it Brazil is bad and they would love to be As Badass as America
i remember playing in high school and in the hall good times miss playing !
The version I played had to bounce on the ground before hitting the wall. If the ball is hit straight to the wall without bouncing off the ground first, it's called direct and the next person re-serves
Why do Americans keep taking the names of existing sports and give it to their far less played sports? You can't even come up with your own damn name?
Handball (Wallball) goes back to the 1400s. Earlier forms of the sport exist in Mesoamerica and Ancient Egypt. Brought over to the U.S. ("Americans") by Irish immigrants in the late 1800s.
then call it wallball..
What you talking about far less played? We got more people in our prisons than you have in your whole country!
Tugberk Sengezer this is called pelota vasca and has been played in North Spain for centuries
If our sport came first YOU come up with YOUR own name.
Can I play with no hands?...
Yup. it's called football
Jorge Luis lol yea
I mean it was a pretty bad joke but fucking relax lol
Lol I can say that it was the worst joke ever that's why it's funny lol
People have being doing this in the Vasque country, North of Spain, for a looong time (even today is a big sport)
I played one time and I was hooked. Too much fun
that shit aint naw handball
this is gaelic handball(irish origin)
LOL... "most intense sport ever"
Go to a tournament in NYC and you'll know.
You're thinking, "Oh a ball and a wall and you hit the ball at the wall, haha that's stupid". You honestly have no idea. This requires high fitness and skill. This is also one variation of the sport. Its derived from Handball in Ireland. Look up Paul Brady playing someone as an example in GAA Handball.
I’d love to introduce my version of this game to the world. We played it when were kids in school in California. It’s major difference with the “normal” version is it’s full contact and the ball is larger and softer, allowing for harder strikes and more chances for players to utilize erratic deliveries and make the ball do some funky things. Also it has to bounce at least once before you hit it, and bounce at least once on its way back to the wall. If anyone’s interested in learning more let me know!
Wow, this is awesome! :D
When you can't afford a tennis racket
When tennis rackets are for pussys.
Aussie high school handball is the official one and only handball bruh, none of this squash/wallball/tennis bs

But handball is something different....
No it isn't.. this is handball. You're thinking of European Handball
Andrew lol ur wrong this is not handball
in Australia its called downball and usually primary school students play it lol
I actually played this in junior high. But we played it differently. So instead of hitting the ball, we would catch the ball and whip it back at the wall. If you got hit with the ball during or after, you were out so you had to look both ways
I am from the basque country and we play this game but in a high level. The sport is called eskupilota on the basque country
most definitely not more intense than any other sport out there
hans rockwell it's Ny. He's from ny. They all think and talk like that lol

this is a sport played in the Basque Country called "eskupilota" (esku=hand, pilota=small ball) in our language Euskara.
