  • I bumped into Joel Schumacher when I was visiting Universal Studios and we were in LA on our way there - I was a child and Forever had just come out and I was of course wearing my Batman shirt. I walked up to him and said that Forever was the best Batman film I had ever seen - he turned to me with a huge smile and said “why thank you little man, I’m so glad you enjoyed it!, that means a lot to me” I’ll never forget that moment. Rest in peace Joel 🖤

  • The duality between Bruce Wayne and Batman was what Batman Forever was all about. I think Val Kilmer for sure explored the psychological aspect to the character. The one thing with Carrey's Nygma is that he did play the eccentric type creator obsessed with riddles, but you still had that Jokeresque performance.

    • Thank you!!! I thought I was the only one that noticed this. Batman Forever was all about DUALITY which no other batman film had really tapped into. Val Kilmer really explored the differences and this showed clearly in his relationship with Chase Meridian I think Forever was underated and is the best out of the four films. The action sequences and depth of the story was great.

      @gorillanotion1024@gorillanotion10243 жыл бұрын
    • Batman Forever is harmless fun but lacks deeper depth because of the removed Batman subplot scenes about him losing his memory and finding he needs Batman again. Jim Carry is funny from start to finish in Batman Forever and Val Kilmer is fine. Batman and Robin though suffer from the problem sequels get called excess they take everything that was fun and entertaining from Forever that worked in Forever and overdoes it in B And R. Batman and Robin was trying to capture the spirit of the 6os show but also trying to go even bigger with what worked in Forever. What you end up with is pretty much a movie for dumb children. Batman 1989 and Returns are Burton doing his take a Dark slightly crazy loner Batman that is only slightly less crazy than the villains he chases. Then we got Nolan's Dark realistic take and Snyders more comic book extreme dark take. Now we have Matt Reeves's upcoming Detective thriller noir type, Batman.

I cant believe it wasnt rewritten. Who at Warner would have approved that script??? The franchise was on life support by then anyway. Three actors for four Batman movies. They were running out of villains. The storyline had lost its luster. It needed that eight year break and Nolan's vision to bring it back.

  • These 2 Batman films are what got me into acting and entertainment. Most people who diss these films over them not being “dark enough” don’t truly understand that Batman has an infinite amount of layers to him, thanks to the many decades he has of existence under his belt. He had both dark AND light stories such as “The Dark Knight Returns”, and “Rainbow Batman”. And as for the Batnipples, bat credit card and neon lit Batmobile? The Batnipples still don’t worry me. In fact I think it adds more detail to what the 1989 suit brought, and the card and Batmobile is still pretty badass! It was my dream to be Tim Drake in a film next to Chris O’Donnell as Nightwing with Michael Gough, Pat Hingle and Joel Schumacher around to help out. Unfortunately, it wasn’t meant to be. Rest In Peace to the latter 3 men. I miss you guys, even though I’ve never met you guys. Y’all are all the reason I have an Associates in acting.

  • "Batman Forever" is actually very underrated, I think. Sure it was flawed, but it also had a lot of strengths that deserve to be recognized (visuals, set designs, casting, humor, Elliot Goldenthal's awesome musical score, etc.). As a staple of my '90s upbringing I have nothing but fond memories of it. Val wasn't the worst Batman, not at all; in many ways I'd happily rank him amongst the best. As a film "Forever" was definitely misunderstood in its time: it did something different with those characters and that world, Joel was willing to take risks and take the franchise in a new direction, but people weren't necessarily ready yet for Joel's vision. Granted, Burton's films remain superior, and at the time that's what audiences were used to, and all "Forever" tried to do was tweak it and create something much closer to the eccentricity of some of the early comic books. I, for one, appreciate it for just that reason.

Val Kilmer was a really solid Batman and I loved the psychological aspects they included in it. And the 1940s femme fatale style of Dr. Chase Meridian is so my aesthetic! Haha!
