    @j.wright8157@j.wright81572 жыл бұрын
    • Both the Lakers & Celtics were better teams: Mainly because of the Center/ frontline: Rodman/Longley/Kukoc could not match up with Kareem/Magic/Worthy/AC Green (All 4 guys are 6 ft 9 or above) Jordan and Pippen are 6 ft 7 and under. Dennis Johnson, Cedric Maxwell can at least keep up with Jordan and Pippen....but the Bulls would not be able to answer Parrish & McHale or Worthy/Kareem/Magic down in the post. YES it might be a 7 game series - but I would say 7 of 10 times the Celtics/Lakers would beat those 90s Bulls. Rodman played vs. Boston around 1988 in the playoffs: He was limited to less than 4 rebounds per game (that's what happens when you play against one of the best frontlines in history: Parrish, Bird, McHale The 80s teams had more depth than Jordan's teams: Larry Bird, McHale, Parrish, Walton, DJ, Ainge, Henderson etc. etc Bulls: Jordan, Pippen, Rodman, Longley, Kukoc, BJ Armstrong, Jud Buechler, Bill Wennington, Steve Kerr Parrish / Mchale & Kareem/Magic/Worthy would be the huge difference makers - Jordan and Pippen cannot do everything.... Jordan/Pippen etc can get steals and ignite fast breaks ... but if Boston takes care of the ball, slows it down into a half - court game..... no I don't see the Bulls scoring enough out of the half-court set to match up and win a 7 game series. Even the Bulls could not keep up with Magic, Kareem and THAT Showtime fast break. (Remember when the bulls beat Magic, Kareem was already retired, Worthy was hurt most of the series, ... it just wasn't the same team with Cooper, Kareem, AC Green) " Size & Skill beats Small-Skilled every time. You can't grow enough to guard me" - Kevin McHale McHale would get the ball in the post vs. Rodman, Cartwright, Longley, Kukoc etc and score most every time.

      @MrLarryLessor@MrLarryLessor2 жыл бұрын
    • You summed it up perfectly. I tell people all the time. Those Laker and Celtic teams would whoop MJs Bulls. So would the 83’ Sixers.

    • @@MrLarryLessor Dennis Rodman was a hall of fame rebounder and defender. He guarded a prime Shaq. He could absolutely defend Kevin McHale. Scottie Pippen could absolutely defend Larry Bird.

      @mrbiggs36@mrbiggs362 жыл бұрын
    • You can't because Rodman was on the Pistons during the 80's when Jordan couldn't win anything. The Bulls are a product of the 90's. Their success is in relationship to the destruction of the disappearing great 80's teams of Celtics, Lakers and Pistons. And I wouldn't count the 91 Pistons and Lakers as the same teams as they were in the 80's. Injury depleted teams.

      @wpl8275@wpl82752 жыл бұрын
    • @@wpl8275 Your argument is weakened by the fact that the 91 Pistons were defending champs - they had all their starters and none of them were out with injury... The Bulls in 91 were just ready for Detroit - they were faster, fearless than the PIstons. That's why Chicago swept in 91. Isiah admitted it: Years later or after 91 he admitted, "JOrdan looked at me like "What you have, I'm taking it" and Isaiah said that look "scared me". The Bulls were by 91 a very good team - were they an all time elite team like the 87 Lakers or 83 Sixers or 86 Celtics? Maybe not. BUt they were still champions - Horace Grant was underrated as an offensive player - he was an excellent athlete/ defender (even though he doesn't get HOF recognition like Rodman.) I agree that the 90s Bulls were overall a weaker team than the early 80s / mid 80s teams because they didn't have the frontcourt that would probably be needed to compete with Kareem, Moses, prime Parrish/McHale etc. But the Pistons were tough and the BUlls were right there battling with Detroit all those years. It's too easy to make dismissive generalizations. That was a golden era of NBA - Now you don't even have 3 teams in each conference that are deep at the level of the mid-80s teams. Stars today are looking for MVP awards, more money, more endorsements, fighting for social causes etc (whether its Kyrie trying to take a stand about masks or complaining about police brutality ) - a lot of the players today have lost the focus on winning the Chip every year. Hopefully GIannis, Embiied, Doncic, JOkic can make their teams really elite so we get that high level of basketball back.

But I think if he played in this modern 3 point spacing era, he would have worked on his jumpshot more because he would do anything to win. Same for Jason Kidd, who improved his jumpshot later in his career. Can't say the same yet for Giannis Antetokounmpo and Ben Simmons, right now it's their weakness.

Yet, Magic can do everything else that Steph can’t do and a good advantage also is that he’s 6’9. The shortest starter for Showtime Lakers was Byron Scott at 6’6” which is crazy and it makes it harder when Magic was a matchup nightmare most of the time.
