As a German I'm really glad he moved to Arsenal, seems like his potential is finally being unlocked. However it's kinda unsatisfying that he's back as a number 9 in the national team. I mean yes he can play that role but it's not ideal imo.

They need to be technically assured and comfortable playing multiple positions, Onana is neither, he's an old-school destroyer and can't control tempo and we need a deep lying midfielder that can control tempo and defend.

What if he gets injured. Jorginho may leave. He isn't great at defending. Elneny will go. So having at least 3 CDM's is more logical than 2.
