In my opinion The Tap Dancing Man is one of the scariest, most sinister, and disturbing characters created in modern times. The creators of this character and actor portraying him should honestly win some awards and deserve serious recognition.
Yah especially the scene where he enters the stage at the business party and it’s just silent and no special shot just completely not what you were expecting
True
He personifies black rage....what's more frightening is the fact that it would be a justifiable rage....if ever/ once released
I thought the fat white boss was the tap dance man??
I agree
everyone sayin he a villain must be cacs lol he wasn't a villain, he was a representation of anger, rage and madness from all the racism his family enduring
he was actually a demon called the black hat man. He was that white guy who burned those Black people in the Amish times, and cursed the town so this maestrol character was just that guy actually. Trying to get this family to do fucked up things and be scrutinized and killed by the white people right after segregation. that mixed with what u said. the movie was just unforgettable couldn’t believe what i was seeing and i cant forget it it
he was both. it was one of the ghosts doing devils bidding
So homelander ain’t a villain ?? Joker ain’t a villain?? Yall weird af . So I guess them dudes who killed all them kids at the columbine ain’t villains either . Just a reflection of their anger . Smh keep the same energy
@@jayray1495no bro. He isn’t saying that figuratively. This character actually isn’t a real character, he is, in the shows universe, a manifestation of the fathers negative feelings towards himself and white people. Home lander and those other people aren’t villains cause they are white, they are villains because they did villainous things. And they are also real people who did those very real things (in the Columbine example you’re trying to provide). This character in the show didn’t kill any kids or innocent people or anything villainous like that, black or not. He couldn’t have anyway, he isn’t a real character in the world of the show. He was meant to be temptation to get the father to give in to his dark impulses. It’s a not a “keep that energy” kind of thing I think you misunderstood what the other dude was saying that’s all 👍💯
He’s a demonic entity representing all that you said.
This guy put off some hardcore Pennywise vibes, like it tapped into his primal fears. Really good horror writing.
Is that a pun?
God loves yall
Wrong time Pete
Agreed.
Yes!!! That's who he reminded me of!!!
Legit one of the more aesthetically terrifying villains I've seen in a long time. That line delivery from playful to menacing - TOP TIER
@@rjharris1960 …I know… Thanks for spoiling future viewers. Also sad how ‘the peach tree’ scene also is not on YT yet.
@@Bmanritchie - ok I deleted my comment.
@@rjharris1960I ain't got the money so just tell me eee
He represents how the father thinks "they" see him. A stereotypical, old timey, "ninja", just there to obey, jump, entertain, not there to be taken seriously, etc.
Never watch the show just saw a clip and wanted to see whole interaction and this take is just not it.. shows why history is important I guess but they would rather teach your generation lgbtq rights
@jokerfadew8095 ...This isn't a take, it is literally what the writer explained. The Tap Dance Man is to post to be the metaphorical personification of how the father thinks other people around him (the whitw people) see him as.

@@antennaboy3383 did my research tell me your link because I don’t speak out the ass like you show me the link. From Them article in there page to the Actor himself nothing refers to your take
@@antennaboy3383 don’t ping me again without a link from an interview "Tap Dance Man represents Henry's pain, his anger, also the mirror he has to put up." - Jeremiah Birkett on bringing his character to life in #THEM. “Old timey” 🤔 I’m assuming this show is made in the 50-60’s based off of attire and television model so what does “old timey” refer to seems based of personal assumption as for the rest of it they don’t make him seem that way in this clip to me.
The lil drool at 2:23 made the scene for me. That actor is AMAZING! The dedication is unreal !!! 😭
And that smile at 2:08, amazing acting.

He's such an unsettling and disturbing villain. Plus the social commentary is so precise and effective. Amazing scene.
He’s not a villain smh 🤦🏾♂️
@@kharijackson1433haha right? Just finished season 1, wanted to check out some of his scenes and see others thoughts on the character. The character was basically Henry’s shadow self of his past in the military, the loss of his child and what happened to his wife, and hatred/bigotry he faced and had to put up with while remaining civil
As Terrifying as the Tap Dance Man was, he was a brilliant representation of how Henry felt on the inside. Amazing delivery!
The tapdance man is brilliantly written because he can exist in all of us. IYKYK

Tap dance mans actor has a really nice voice.
Tap Dance Man goes from charming to outright terrifying so quickly lol very effective villain
He’s not a villain. He’s the anger inside of the average black man that we try to put away on a daily basis. Some of us give in.
@@stillpimpinpodcastWell said. Although I can’t relate in the same way, I can understand the representation as the character itself is Henry’s shadow self and we all have one. Different reasons for different people.

The Tap Dance Man is the perfect “devil on your shoulder”. Brilliant performance.
Next time somebody tries to pick a fight with me I'm a start tap dancing and singing "what you gonna do, whatchu goin do" 😂

Wtf🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
The actor, writer, director, and anyone else involved in making this scene deserve awards. The Tap Dance man is a terrifying demon, though he's more of an inner demon to show us what the main character is feeling. It's brilliant. Though I'd wager a good portion of people would claim not to understand the meaning
Seems like a degrading performance to me. I thought we left black face in Jim Crow why bring it back lolol
@@lonlonranch7796 the show is based in the 50s….

What the FK??? This needs to be promoted more. Im JUST hearing of this in 2024, and im a horror film/series buff! Woooooo this is scary as!
Yeah man. These two seasons were done well. Can’t wait for season three
i just see the 2º season already on prime, i want to watch but i need to wait my friend to start together, but damn im so curious to check
The Tap Dance Man sends shivers down my spine. He is truly a demonic entity.
WHY NOBODY TALKING BOUT HOW HE JUST DEVOURED THE DRINK
I pray for the day I get to drink a drink like that. That man DRANK that drink.
he looks like if venom and blackface had a wild night in a way thats just the right flavor of upsetting design...
Well said, the fact that it’s so upsetting and disturbing is another level of horror. Most visually frightening thing I’ve seen in a long time
Those black face characters always scared me. This one scared the living crap out of me.
@@stopthelightskinguilt.3775 this is how they view us as mindless monsters. When we were just people. It’s sad but it’s the reality of it.

@@stopthelightskinguilt.3775 scared!? He looks funny😂
Proof that we can be our own nightmare.
The charm, intimidation, and just the facial contortions reminds me so much of Pennywise. I haven't been this creeped since I was a kid watching the original IT TV movie. One of the most deep ghosts and/or demons I've seen in film. Like everyone else here, I'd like to see a TV show or even a film focused on this character.
That isn't penny-wise. That is how your ancestors protrayed black people and how they claimed they acted during the Jim crow era.
Literally how I feel.
Why? So more black people can be faced with images like this? Or because you think it’s just an interesting character comparable to Pennywise? Tell me your tone deaf without telling me your tone deaf. Well, to be fair, this whole show was tone deaf so I guess it’s not too surprising.
He’s so much more terrifying to me than penny wise. I know most will disagree with me tho
@@dvdscds9539 Not tone deaf. Everything is represented from history, trying to spread awareness. Tell me you are tone deaf without telling me.
Tap dance man is someone I strongly wouldn’t recommend you cosplay as during comic con
You’ll get beat up don’t do it
😂
When I saw this I literally felt something in my soul
I didn’t care for the overall series, but the tap dancing character is definitely one of creepiest most captivating and interesting ghosts I’ve ever seen in a movie or tv. Bravo for that
This guy is such a good actor. I loved every scene he was in
I think what I like about the Tap Dance Man is he reminds me of those eerie rubberhose cartoons such as “swing you sinners!” Or “Minnie the moocher” from his black and white face along with his black holes for eyes making twisted facial expressions and his cartoony voice. He’s campy as Hell but his design and id-like mannerisms(husky growls and drooling) makes your skin crawl.
I mean there's a lot of references to minstrelsy in those cartoons and that's precisely what The Tap Dance Man is.
When the tap dance man just started laughing outta nowhere 😂🤣😂🤣
Little voice: Do what’s right. Dark voices: Whatcha gon dooo?🎶
This really is a very scary design followed by a great almost cartoony acting very underrated

Gives me major Shining vibes with the poor father going through a rough patch and something taking advantage of his pain and anger, gonna have to give this one a watch
I remember watching this the first time and I felt terrified yet very very angry. Still feel that way.
This is a level of acting I don’t think I’ve ever seen in cinema when he drunk that beer I got chills it’s A list actors who have never even exceeded to this level of acting
Petition for him to play Joker
It's the creepiest thing I have seen in awhile
This character is so deep its terrifying. The history and element behind is brillant writing. The what you gonna do tapping is taunting..

SCP-5046: The Tap Dance Man The Tap Dance Man is a humanoid creature that feeds and gains power off of negative emotions such as grief, rage, and sadness. All personnel within a 100 meter radius are to show now emotion, and not respond to any of his questions. He wears a black suit, and black top hat resembling a 1950s upper class man. All skin is a deep shade of black, with large, white, irregular rings around the eyes and face.He was found in 1963 when a Task Force was sent to retrieve a supernatural anomaly. He uses manipulation and physiological power to throw his victims into a murderous state. If unable to find a victim, he will kill or harm the victims loved ones to lower their mental barriers, allowing him to take control of their mind. Physical attacks do not seem to harm him, and keeping personnel with a high sanity throws him into a state of confusion.
SCP 5046 is actually just a thumbtack that can pierce through almost anything and bring inanimate objects to life
Whyd you have to make it an SCP?

Tap Dance Man is such a great character. He feels like a black man mocking blackface and taking ownership of it; using it as a symbol of defiance against years of being oppressed, infantilized and mocked. Like the Guy Fawkes mask in V For Vendetta.
Very,Very Symbolic as being a black man
