Star Fox Zero is a 3D scrolling shooter video game developed by Nintendo and PlatinumGames for Wii U. The sixth installment in the Star Fox series, Star Fox Zero has been stated by lead producer and supervising director Shigeru Miyamoto as being neither a prequel nor a strict remake of Star Fox 64, while Nintendo later reiterated it was not a prequel while also stating that is was also not a sequel. A standalone tower defense game, Star Fox Guard, comes bundled with Star Fox Zero either as a separate disc in Zero's initial print or as a digital download code in later prints. After a delay from November 20, 2015, the game was released worldwide in April 2016.

The graphics have improved... looks much better than before.

+TheMida4 Yup- "not actual game play" is correct. However, what they showed in the direct that they don't show in this trailer clip is in game footage, and the visuals are definitely much more sharper than before. Ironically, kinda how I would've expected them to be last summer, with a view to seeing it improve further by now..! Never mind - at least we can see it's moving in the right direction.

I remember being very excited for this game. For the first time in ten years, Star Fox was back for a new adventure. And I've been playing it ever since I got it for my birthday. Thank you, Nintendo, for giving so many happy memories.

Why is it so hard to understand that visuals DO matter a good deal in _video_ games? If graphics didn't matter at all, why even give a console more power to render better graphics? And if you give that console such power, why not _utilize_ it? This cheaper visuals here is far from what the Wii U can do. You don't have to create the shiniest, most realistic game in the world, but you _do_ want to show some effort in polishing the game in all respects where you can, and by this point, _should_. One _should_ give game development their reasonable best, and this, my friend, isn't Nintendo's reasonable best. I've seen Unity games from two-man dev teams do better stuff than this. I've even seen mobile games that push better visuals. But hey, if WIi U owners are _this_ content and _this_ easy to please, then hey, all power to Nintendo for finding such a relaxed crowd of folks. Call me when Nintendo's gets serious about giving things their best and about actually competing again.

+Drowsy Guy They didn't even show actual gameplay and the same problems still stand. We don't know what the local multiplayer is going to be like and they still haven't confirmed online multiplayer. The story mode is the length of a movie. No other game modes announced. The release still is still far away even though the game SHOULD be out by now. I can look past neat visuals and a flashy trailer.

Nate T The game was scheduled to Come out in 2015 before Zelda Wii U. Zelda games normal come out in late November so Star fox zero would have came out in early November or sometime in October. Both games were delayed.

+Bleachlover01 I actually find it pathetic that you find it pathetic ;-) But seriously, with the development of new TVs, showing oh-so-many pixels and stuff, low-quality graphics just look bad in HD ;-) And WiiU is capable of delivering great graphics alongside the story, just look at Pikmin 3, Xenoblade Chronicles X, Splatoon (not much story there, but graphics are good even in a simple arcade game).
Jorge Barra why not both? Seriously why do gamers always jump from one extremity to another? If you buy a book, you pay some attention to how it's done too, right? Apart from the story you look at fonts, paper etc. Why not caring about games too?
+Bleachlover01 I find it more pathetic that folks like you don't see the value in amping up the visual experience in _video_ games, on a console that was _designed_ to handle better visuals than these, for a console that's been desperate for a hit, esp. arriving this _late_ in the Wii U's life cycle. By now, as with any console, all of their AAA titles should look better, as if clear effort was given. These visuals look like something that even GameCube could've done. Even _Star Wars Rogue Squadron II_ on GameCube 14 years ago saw better effort than these super-low poly models and crude-resolution texturing. Even for Star Fox's cute non-realistic design, the execution of the aesthetics still could use another coat of polish. I think _many_ people realize that gameplay is what's more important with a game, but that's still no excuse to get all lazy about the visuals. Why even make the Wii U a more powerful graphics machine, if improving the visuals is just going to be ignored?
I mean, if the game is being made on the console I bought for 300$, I expect the highest quality possible for it. I'm not saying that graphics are everything, but they do add to the experiance quite a lot. "Pathetic" is a bit too strong of a word.

The game was decent but lacked a stand-out story/gameplay. Characters like Panther and Krystal were really lovable imo. I don't know why they keep getting removed.

They really nailed the aesthetic of this game. Reminds me so much of Star Fox 64.
I like how the graphics looks like an evolved version of SF64... not like it's a bad thing you know? But they've tried other approaches before (in Assault and Adventures) and i'm happy they've finnaly found an artstyle that is simple and awesome.

+You Who Chose Godhood It's true, "High definition" falls under anything at 720P resolution or higher. It's not graphical fidelity that's makes something "High definition" just the resolution it's rendered at, and the 3DS is a pitiful 800x420. Far cry from 1280x720. Don't get me wrong I LOVE my 3DS. Just explaining why it isn't HD.

SeriousxSarcasm To be fair, "Not Actual Gameplay" doesn't mean CG Trailer. Most CG trailers don't run at 60fps, thats something in-engine cutscenes do.

Assault was the sequel. And it was fine. Not amazing, but I dug it a lot. Only problem I had with it was the rail shooter bit with the bazooka.

The preview trailer is looking better than what we saw at last June's E3. Platinum Games have FINALLY seen the light and improved the look at the characters, vehicles, etc. Next year, Miyamoto and Bayonetta 2 director Hashimoto can have my cash as I am gonna purchase Star Fox Zero day one!

5 months looks like a great span to make it right. Graphics have improved and it looks as if they will add multiplayer. If they keep this path, it could be the way to go from "ok" to "memorable".
