On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.

Way back in 1978 I got to go up in a real F16, I was 28 at the time and my mom's new husband was a Lt. Colonel in the Air Force. I was racing a 911RS in the SCCA at the time and thought that it would be interesting to experience some real G's...I sure did! These videos sure bring back my memory of that amazing experience.

That's an interesting story, but according to my research, the first production F-16 wasn't accepted by the Air Force until August 1978 and didn't become operational until January 1979. So either: 1.) The Air Force was allowing pilots to give joyrides to relatives in a completely brand-new aircraft that wasn't even operational yet, which strikes me as wildly irresponsible on their part. 2.) You've misremembered the date. 3.) The entire story is bulls***.

I always wondered how the F-106 Dart would have done against a Mirage. I've heard that (supposedly) it could easily outmaneuver Phantoms and Eagles, but I haven't been able to find any solid evidence. Convair built such beautiful planes.
If they only built it with a gun!

I believe there was a gun pack with a m61 for one of the missile bays...if seldom used.
The 106 would get slaughtered by a Mirage 2000
The "six" couldn't handle a well flown eagle roughly - but vs overconfident nuggets in A model eagles it could. It definitely could handle an F4 in most flight regimes, if flown correctly. Unfortunately, everything the F106 brought to the table and was good at... the Mirage 2k is better at.
Great video as always. Would love to see the Viper vs the Rafale. It may not be able to outrate the Viper, but I think it'd be just as dangerous in the one circle, and much more capable than the Mirage in the two circle, with the added bonus of being able to pull off maneuvers that the Mirage just can't. It'd be a great fight!

Thanks for doing this video. Interesting to see how a good two circle fighter can make it next to impossible for a one circle fighter to dictate the flow of the fight. Maybe try a Fox-2 fight at some point?

Shotgun is pretty good in a one circle fight. I loved the way he flew the Flanker and the Mirage was flown quite well too. right now in a guns only dogfight, the Viper rules as it should. Maybe the Eurofighter changes it but until then, all hail the dogfight king, the F16C Viper.

Good one . Letting the opponent aircraft fight to their strength for a round is informative and interesting . Sometimes going into these is like " who's GS gonna beat up with the F16 this time " but this one wasn't . Having a good pilot like Shotgun validates the fight as to each aircraft strengths . Getting shot down by an F18 might be good in illustrating how quickly that aircraft can turn a fight . I do really like the F16 video's , that thing is a Ferrari .

been a while since ive seen a topnotch radius fighter and a topnotch rate fighter have at it, you two really put up a hell of a show as i always say.. also, i wonder if any cars got vaporized when your Viper slammed into the earth at the end of round 2 XD
Instead of Tac view on some of these videos, I would love to see a walk thru of what exactly everything in the HUD is displaying and why, every time you pulled him into the HUD. I get the basics of the cone, I think, but most everything else I really would like to better understand. Relating it to a fight we just watched would make a strong connection.

My jet fighter ride was a Mirage IIID. So surprising how quick it was. The wine of the AB turbo pump lives in my dreams ;) The little speed brakes were like hitting a wall when deployed as well. 6G club. No 9 gs in an old Mirage. Haha

I never quit on Mirage that leaves a big smoke trail. It still can kill. Their damage model is a bit unbelievable...
hell yeah loved this one. love the Mirage it's a tricky little bastard, those jinks definitely catch plenty of pilots off guard. But I knew you would know what to do. usually if I think an opponent is gonna drag me to the deck I just stay high and try to carefully draw in the bandit and jink him out of his boots. At least when that fails you still have some altitude to play with.

I really super duper wanted to get the F14 as my first full fidelity module bc it is just so incredibly based, however... all these F16 vids made me grab the free trial and oh man the viper is a BEAST! I've spent all my life dissing the viper but after actually seeing what it could do first hand i have to say it is an insane dog fighter... makes the mig 29 seem like chopped liver if you make it to the merge.

if only we had a more advanced M2KC, the modernized versions have better energy management built into the FCC. It still wouldn't be good in a 2 circle but a little better, certainly no F-16, or even Rafale.
