On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.
If you enjoy war thunder or Microsoft flight simulator 2020 or even dogfighting in Battlefield 2042, consider getting yourself into Digital Combat Simulator by Eagle Dynamics, the Combat side of Aviation with the BVR and Dogfights really provides a different and interesting perspective on aviation. You can fly all kinds of combat aircraft including the F-16, F-15, F-14, JF-17, Su-27, Mig-29, Mirage and the F-18 Hornet along with many other aircraft and helicopters like the Ka-50 and Mi-8.

  • It’d be cool if you both had a different ROE and didn’t know about your opponent’s, so either of you could unknowingly trigger the other to fire because you crossed X boundary, locked the other, or flew too aggressively towards the other

    • That would defeat the purpose of the engagement. The skill is not knowing what your opponent is doing and taking action. The tension for us viewers is like riding along with GS as he reveals how to counter against all odds.... not knowing what his opponent is doing. His tactic worked, got him over the water.

  • A shame no one armed the Mirage 2000 with the Meteor. India and France both dipped their toe into the water on it but neither committed. I guess both will be going all-Rafale pretty soon, so it didn't make financial sense, but still would've been cool!

  • For a while, I thought this was going to be the first GS video to end without a single shot being fired. But the Mirage just had to start something and as a result, ended up with a nice little ticket to AMRAAM City. You should do this again against a Greek Rafale since Greece also got some Meteor missiles when they purchased the planes.

  • Could dropping tanks be useful in a BVR fight? Is it possible the tanks could decoy incoming missiles? Also, have you ever determined the result of dropping tanks over civilian inhabited areas? Have your tanks ever done damage to buildings or people on the ground? I know this is simulation, but it is still interesting to me.

    • Dropping the tanks in BVR won’t have any effect on the incoming missiles because they don’t emit anything. Dropping tanks in dcs doesn’t do any damage too to the land or civilian areas, the damage that they could do isn’t modeled at least in DCS. As for the utility of dropping tanks in BVR the most you can get i think is more maneuverability but as far as for other things they will not help :)

    • ​@om3gaa-_-849 also worth noting on the Mirage 2000 and the F-15E having external ordnance increases RCS so you can get picked up further away. But mostly, dropping tanks makes it easier to accelerate and maintain speed, which obviously is critical in BVR.

  • I just wish we could get the 2000-5 as an upgrade for the 2000c, I just want a competitive mirage man. I can't even look forward to modules cause they either add to the American powehouse, side with the american powerhouse, or are stuck in development limbo, or just don't add anything to the general dcs experience.
