Simply put, despite the variety, for the majority, there is no one best brush head for your Oral-B toothbrush. It is more important to focus on your brushing time, frequency and technique than the style of head.
You can learn the correct brushing technique by watching the following video: • How To Use An Electric...
Potentially particular heads will benefit in some circumstances, for example, a 3D White brush head may achieve better results for those wanting to remove surface stains.
Jon covers the CrossAction, FlossAction, Sensi UltraThin, 3D White and many more in this video.

Very mixed messages when googling if Ultra Thin fits normal size Braun toothbrush ? please help? Is it ultra thin - ie does not fit standard toothbrush ?
Jodi. The name UltraThin refers to the thickness of the bristles. This UltraThin brush head should work on almost any Braun Oral-B electric toothbrush. It fits on just like other styles of brush head such as CrossAction, FlossAction, Sensitive and more.
In reality they are marketing gimmicks actually though that's the way it is with everything that's a big known company o Oral-B is a big-name company just look at water companies they got so many of these gimmicks like alkaline water the only thing alkaline water helps us with heartburn it doesn't help with anything else you don't actually need alkaline water so it's the same way with the toothbrush there may be some every once in awhile that you find that actually do help but there are also marketing gimmicks
@@ElectricTeeth so what if you want all the options sensitive teeth you want your teeth whitening you want to get rid of plaque and all of that
Well ultimately I would pick the Sensi UltraThin brush head. That has the softest bristles. With a good oral care routine that still removes the plaque and surface stains from the teeth.
Change the playback speed to x1.25 and thanks me later.
Thanks

Thank you buddy for saving my time

Excellent tutorial on brush heads. Love my Oral B tooth brush. I have a few crooked teeth that need to be cleaned in tight and uneven spaces and had been looking at the heads made for partials that have the three sets of brush strands with a single set of strands in the middle. It would only be occasional but I’ve had a head similar and it did a great job. 👍🏻Again thanks.
Thanks for making another one with the new brush heads. Great video! 👍
Thank you! This is exactly the information I needed in order to make an informed purchase! I am very grateful that we have you to explain this to us! 🙏🙌😁

Thanks so much for this awesome explanation for something I've wondered about for a long time!!
very well explained.. thank you doctor for this amazing tutorial :)
So helpful, thank you!
I chose Cross Action because of the angle of the bristles. Now that I have watched this video, I might go and buy a sensitive bristle and the 3D White and use those when I feel the need to use them! Thanks for the explanations!
Really good and informative videos, helped me make decisions on which brush I’ll be using. Thank you very much!

You were very thorough and I understood now what to choose when I purchase an Oral-B Electric Toothbrush this week. I was bewildered at what toothbrush heads to purchase, and with that said - I now know which to buy after viewing this video. Thank YOU.
Thank you!
Seriously. I feel you on bewildered. There was about 12 different ones and then different versions of those 12 (heads, colours, options, timers, etc.). Priced from $12- $300. This is my first electric and I'm not even sure if I'd like using it over manual so I decided to go entry level at $25 on sale, try it, and then eventually upgrade if I do like it more and the vibrations don't irritate me. Just tried it out tonight, got the sensitive one because I just had dental work done this week and she said to be careful to start. There is for sure a cleaner feel over using my manual brush. I didn't notice the timer working at all though and went based on my watch. I may turn it on and just monitor it and see if it pauses after 2 mins without bushing, just watching. Maybe I got a dud. But it's really cleaned them, and I'm curious now to see a vid on the proper technique for using one. I feel like I'm leveling up.
thank you!!
This is fantastic, thank you
Thank you. It helps me a lot!!
zabardast video doctor , thank you for creating such an amazing content,
Orel B and bunch of dentists recommend that I change out my brush head after 3 months because the bristles have worn and lots of bacteria have collected between the bristles. I think it's all bunk and of course it is all about marketing to get you to buy new ones. However, what they say is scary. Feeling concerned, I compared my 6 month brush head to a new one under magnification. I found that there was hardly any differences in wear and bristles stiffness when compared to a new brush head. If you are concerned about bacteria and germs collected on the head after 3 months of usage, I suggest that a new one will collect just as much after a few usage. If you are concern about bacteria and germs in your month then soak the brush head in bleach, which kills 99.9% of the bacteria and germ. Amazingly, that I am alive and my mouth has not been damaged by all kinds of sores because I did not change out the brush head. As an engineer, I have concluded that the recommendation makes no sense at all. My teeth have not suffered from keeping the brush head until I feel like replacing it. I think I have used only 3 brush heads since Dec 2019 when the Orel B tooth brush was new. I hope I have convince you to come to the same conclusion. Back to Orel B. Those 30 second pause and the 2 minute double pauses are also annoying to me. My teeth are not the same. Each one has character. Some require additional brushing because they are used to chew more than others. Therefore, I ignore those timely indicators, and I wish there was a way to cancel those 30 second and 2 minute time defaults. The best Orel B tooth brush is the one that does not have the features that do not get your teeth any cleaner. Orel B 1000 is all you need. It cost around $40.
Nah, I can tell the brush head is starting to wear down after 3 months. I can push it to 4 months and still do a good job but I like to change it at 3months. Are you brushing 2x/day? And yes, you can get the cheap brush and still do a good job. The expensive ones just have extra bells and whistles that some may like.
I never listen to the 30 second and 2 minute pulses. I just clean my teeth till it feels clean
I desinfect my brush with peroxide , mouthwash, bu not bleach 😂
The Cross Action is the best for preventing losts of plaque form back on teeth. The Cross Action heads keeps my teeth smooth like after toothbrush throughout the day and night.
Thank you for explaining everything.
Thank you!!
Great info and Thanks!
Excellent informative video. Many thanks.
You are welcome!
Recently purchased the Precision Clean head. I can really recommend. It is a good choice between Sensi Ultrathin and Cross Action!! If you inspect Crossaction head there are 4 dark blue bristles which are very thick / hard. Usually it caused me bleeding gums, and irritated my gums. I could not use it on full speed. I bought the NEW Precision Clean head, with Cleanmaximiser technology, bristles feels more soft. Bristles different color (green color bristles) First I used it with the massage mode, as the crossaction, but not a great result.... So I switched to full speed, and voila it worked like a charm. And I tested on my gums and not irritated them! Even on full speed! Much softer, but great cleaning result!
Thank you. 🙏
This is helpful👍
Great video
What a video man! Everything I need to know. Thanks a lot :D
Great to read this comment Ami. Glad it helped.
Thank you! Raza =)
I used to use a manual toothbrush, found myself only brushing in the morning time for about 30 seconds (nasty I know). Switched 3 months ago to oral b electric toothbrush and I've been brushing day and night for 2 mins, haven't missed a beat since. Not only do my teeth look 100% whiter but feel so much more cleaner!! I also floss every night and use a tongue scraper. For me Manuel toothbrushes gave me no desire to want to clean my teeth like I should. I definitely recommend electric toothbrushes!!!
Same here, I wish more dentist would recommend electric toothbrushes. It took me a long time to take my oral hygiene serious until a dentist told me after a cleaning that I should use an electric toothbrush. it gives you so much more motivation to clean your teeth. I guess cause I'm lazy and electric toothbrush does most the work for me. Have had my Phillips sonic care electric brush for 2 years and since every dentist visit they actually compliment how clean my teeth and mouth are lol
@@theoneandonly3310 it's great honeslty, I've gotten so used to brushing 2 mins twice a day that 2 minutes dont even feel like I've been brushing long enough haha. I have a dental cleaning coming up and I'm excited about it. I've heard good things about Phillip's sonicare, but right now oral b has my heart lol
This is great to read! 👍

Just ordered the sensi ultra thin. Thanks for this video! I was wondering what the differences were.
How is the lifespan of the brush head? It still look brand new?
Oral-B Sensi Ultrathin are very good, many straws that are soft and thin makes perfect.
Thanks! A video that was much needed and appreciated.
Cool, I'm going to try the sensi ultrathin head, because I have manual toothbrushes with the same design, thin tapered bristles to get between the teeth and it doesn't damage my gums that bad.
I have Sensi UltraThin as well.
@@Tomek1949how is the lifespan of the brush head? It still looks brand new?
Thankyou for sharing this :D
Good information
From my experience with Oral B electric toothbrushes and for the time I have been using them until I switched to a Sonicare I have found that the Precision Clean brush head is the best overall. The Cross Action brush head has hard bristles that can irritate your gums especially on the first week of use while the Sensi ultrathin brush head is soft but it has a very short lifespan as only 2-3 weeks after that I found that it didn't cleaned my teeth very well. As for the other brush heads they do not offer anything special and under any circumstances do not use the Floss Action brush head as this brush head is the hardest of all and it will tear your gums apart after a couple of brushing sessions.
Do you have more information on the lifespan of the other ones ? Precision clean, sensitive clean as opposed to sensi ultrathin, crossaction. Thanks in advance.
@@alanmlkbanda Avoid the sensitive clean brush heads as they don't clean your teeth even on first use. The Precision Clean and Cross Action are the best overall and they last on average 3 months. My personal recommendation is to use the Precision Clean as it cleans your teeth very well and does not irritate your gums like the Cross Action does.
Thank you for your comment... it all make sense
No joke, your comment helped me more than the video dead. My biological dentist recommended the Precision brush as well, but I came here just to see what the differences were. I thought the floss action one looked pretty harsh, so thank you for your insights!
To soften the bristle just run warm water on it

Thank you so incredibly much! This is so helpful!! I’m about to get dentures for some of my teeth ( just a few right now). My teeth had quite a bit decay but many have been restored and I also have some root canals. I do have sensitive teeth at times. Would it be suitable to vary the brush head I use ( eg every few days ) depending on how my teeth and gums are feeling? I think I’m currently using the floss action ( it was one that came with the brush when I first purchased it. I’m not sure if I ). Any suggestions!?! 😁
Yes it is fine to alternate the brush heads if you wish. I would generally recommend sticking with the Sensi UltraThin/Pro GumCare.
Just want to say mate love your content

You just confirmed my choice that I’m already using. Floss action. I don’t always floss.
Is there a difference between super soft and ultra / extra soft bristles?

Nah 3D white works very good for me! But Cross actions feels way harder than 3d white. No gum problems, at the moment.

I've been wondering what the the differences were for years, thanks for the explanation! from Spain :D
The Cross action brush head clean deeper between each tooth. I today I just replacement my Oral b 3d white brush head with a Cross action brush head. The cross action brush head felt like it was reaching between my teeth, and clean my teeth much more than the 3d white brush head.
I used 3d for 3 or 4 days ,it came along in the package with the electric toothbrush. To clean between teeth I angle the brush to go between teeth. 👍 works!
@@snrnsjd The angling the cross action head will deeper and cleaner than the 3d white head.
Thank you, very helpful
for gum recession issues which is better the sensi ultra thin or the sensitive? Loved your explanation. Thanks
As far as I am aware there is nothing to conclusively say one is better than the other. Both as soft bristled heads. The Sensi UltraThin is the newest style. Ultimately using either should help, but I would personally pick the Sensi UltraThin.
I like your 3d glasses more than my 3d brush. Thanks doc!
Recently got an Oral-B to replace a Sonicare that had the infamous piston pulling from its housing defect. Tried the standard CrossAction head it came with, but after a month it seems to be irritating one part of my gumline to the point it gets painful when using the brush on it. I do have sensitive teeth, so it looks like I'll be trying to the sensitive brushhead before giving up on the Oral-B, as I never had this issue with my Sonicare. Definitely worried about recession if it is causing pain. It is along the front of one of my molars, so perhaps my cheek is forcing the brush to exert too much pressure (without triggering the sensor) for the firmness of the standard brush head. I notice I do have to force the back of the brush against my cheek in order for it to only glide across gently. Seems my cheeks are too tight!
I had this same problem with manual tooth brushes and I feel you. Definitely, if you have pain, do switch.
@@beardiemom I ended up going back to Sonicare and adjusting my technique, works better than the Oral-B now.
@@Tephnosgreat
Hi, great vid - thanks for the info! I do have a specific question though: I have previously had a problem with receding gums, and working with advice from my dentist have been able to stop any further receding. Which brush head would you say is best for this issue? I want to ensure that the gumline is clean, but not make any further pushing on my gums. I currently use the CrossAction. Any advice and tips would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.
James. I would suggest the Sensitive/Sensi UltraThin as this is the softest bristled head and will be most gentle on the tooth and gum. Perhaps try alongside CrossAction and see what you prefer and take advice from your dentist based on your personal situation. I suspect they will agree with the softest brush head.
@@ElectricTeeth Thank you!👍🏻😊
@@jamesdaltrey2340 can you share the things your dentist said to do or not do? I’m only 30 and I can see the dark / yellowy part of my two front bottom teeth and am mortified. Hence using tooth brushs like this now. I’ll also get the soft head. How do you find that?
@@stephblank8204 Hi Steph, I was brushing previously in a bad way - using a manual brush at the time and moving it up and down rapidly at the front. Also using a side to side motion which wasn't good. With the manual brush he told me to use slow gentle circular strokes over the front teeth gumline, this had a massaging effect as well as keeping the gumline clear of plaque, which I was concerned about if I couldn't brush them the way I was. This prevented any further receding. My gums were looking red in colour and sore to start with which my dentist informed me was because I was then not brushing them properly. So much better after switching to an electric toothbrush since, but I use a similar technique at the front - just allow it to gently do it's thing over the gum area without any pressure or rapid motion. If the gums are pale pink and looking clear, you're doing it right!
Great info in this post Which brush head do I need for cleaning my tongue please?
You can use any. There isn't one you must use. Most will use their normal brush head. Whilst others may find that the Sensitive/Sensi UltraThin is most pleasant to use because of the softer bristles.
A stainless steel tongue scraper might also be helpful. I also use a tooth powder by a brand called Ecodent on my tongue. It's too harsh for teeth though. I love the anise flavor that goes with my anise toothpaste. They have cinnamon and mint flavors as well of course.
I’ve got the 3D white, love it!
I have the cross action and boy do it get into majority of the cracks of my teeth! My teeth feel so clean afterwards.
My teeth feel smooth day and night after using the cross action.
Informative video, I have a Oral-B Vitality and use CrossAction 3D White + FlossAction heads alternating not the Oral-B branded expensive ones but compatible inexpensive ones and there's no quality difference what so ever, so only differnce is a massive price gap and let's face it P&G manufactures their branded heads probably not themselfs anyway.
Hi just need some confirmation Can I know if I get any Oral B toothbrush (holder) , I can change any type of brush right ? Or if any specific model can only use a certain specific brush ?
Pretty much. The main exceptions being the Oral-B iO Series 7, 8 & 9. They use a magnetic charging stand.
I have a oral b top and I just realized I need a new top OOP!
Very informative video. One question though, the 2D and 3D cleaning action is on the toothbrush head or on the toothbrush handle? And will all the model featured here fit for any 2D and 3D cleaning action toothbrush handle? Thank you
The 3D cleaning action is led by the handle, not the head. All heads are compatible with the 3D cleaning action, not all handle are. Although, the majority of Oral-B brush handles do offer 3D cleaning action. Which model featured are you referring to? Throughout the video we show a variety of clips of brushes. I believe all the ones we showed offer 3D cleaning.
@Electric Teeth is oral. b pro 2 / 2000 provides 3D cleaning? On the box, 2D cleaning is shown.
I found only : "sensitive clean" for sensitive tooth here in Germany as well as in the oralb german website. It looks similar to the sensi ultra thin. Is there a chance the sensitive (blue color) is discontinued?
Yes it is possible for sure.
I recently bought the Oral-B IO 6100 2 pack from Costco, I’m fine with it but my wife doesn’t like the small round head. Was going to look into the Sonicare for a more traditional brush head but I didn’t realize Oral-B makes the tri zone. After reading many reviews it seems that technique is more important than toothbrush brand and I really don’t think it’s the right thing to do as far as returning a toothbrush after using it. Should we keep the Oral-B?
You are right, technique and actually using it is more important than the toothbrush alone. But, if your wife doesnt get on with it then this could be an issue. The TriZone head does not work with the Oral-B iO though if you were thinking of trying this. The iO has its own range of heads. kzhead.info/sun/fd1mZqt5hpSgZ4U/bejne.html Oral-B do offer a money back scheme you could try if your brush is eligible. www.electricteeth.com/oral-b-60-day-money-back-guarantee/
Great info..one question what is the little open bar on the brush mean
Marilyn, it is just part of the design/function. I am sure there is likely a more technical explanation as to why it exists but I don't know what that is. When the brush head moves, you will see a little metal piece within the hole move.
Thank u so much for the very useful information. Before l bought cheap heads but it didnt help to white my theeth compare to oral b head. I want to try sensi ultrathin and wonderying of 3d white to use it or sendi ultra is enough?
Nina. The Sensi UltraThin will not buff the teeth in quite the same way as the 3D white brush head. But, it will still help remove external staining on the teeth, so I think you will see positive effects.
Can i use the precision head while having my braces on?
Yes. Technically any of these heads can be used. Oral-B just have a special ortho head which they have designed with fixed braces wearers in mind.
I tried the cross action from Amazon but unfortunately it's not good for me. It cut my upper gums really badly because apparently it's a medium brush, at least the one I got; so I switched to the pro gum care. Hopefully this one will work 🙏
Did the sensitive brush work for you? I also feel the CrossAction the brush comes with is a bit too firm for my gums. Soft only.
@@Tephnosit did! Very soft and I love it. I will soon switch to the precision clean Edit: the precision clean is a medium-soft brush head, so it still hurts my gums. I guess Pro Gum Care brush head is a win!
@@ashleyj1493I'm curious the ones at Amazon are some of the clones good or equally as the original one?
Thank you! I'm going with Cross Action head We were always a Precision Clean kind of family but the latest version (with green bristles) is nowhere near as good as the old version and they don't last as long. You know what they say? If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Thanks again
hi, i have a full set top & bottom implants, which type of brush head do you think i could use , many thanks
You can/should use the CrossAction or Sensi UltraThin/Pro GumCare for the general all over cleaning. You can then use the power tip to get deeper between and around the implant.
What is the purpose of the little window halfway up the stem of the brush heads? Thanks - the video is very helpful.
Hi Robert. It is to let fluid/moisture drain out from inside the head.
Do you have any info about the “daily clean” brush heads? As I’m looking at options for electric toothbrushes I found these on target’s site, and for some reason they are drastically less expensive than the other options. Curious if they’re any good or if the price difference is for a reason
I've not actually used these. I think based on what I have seen/read they are comparable to the PrecisionClean brush heads.
@@ElectricTeethI would also like to know. I used to get cross action heads for a cheap price from my dentist, but they stopped selling them. Target sells a 3-pack of them for $40, but a 3-pack of daily clean is only $20. The packaging states that they remove 500% and 100% more plaque than a manual brush respectively, but I’m unsure if it’s largely a marketing gimmick or not. Great video though, thanks!
Can i ask which is better to have regarding the firmness of the brush?? I do see hard and soft choices but i didi not se a medium firmness which is use for my teeth so what do you recommend?
Most bristles are a medium firmness, like the CrossAction heads for example. Our top recommendations are the CrossAction or the Sensitive/Sensi UltraThin f you want the softer bristles.
Ahoy! I have a question about the Trizone/Deep Sweep Brush head, Does the Trizone Brushhead fit on the Oral B Pro Health Electric Toothbrush?
Yes it does.
How can on the switch
