A dangerous web of lies and murder awaits the sleuth when his wife disappears.
Francis Durbridge's thriller stars Peter Coke as Paul Temple and Marjorie Westbury as Steve in another intriguing case for BBC radio's smoothest investigator and his glamorous wife.
From 1938 to 1969 the fictional crime novelist and detective Paul Temple, together with his Fleet Street journalist Steve, solved case after case in one of BBC radio's most popular series. They inhabited a sophisticated world of chilled cocktails and fast cars, where the women were chic and the men wore cravats - a world where Sir Graham Forbes, of Scotland Yard, usually needed Paul's help with his latest tricky case.

Paul temple is way ahead of Sherlock Holmes.... Been listening for months ever since I bumped into his extraordinary cases , affairs and mysteries..❤🎉🎉 Thanks a lot for uploading 😊
By Timothy! Is that the time? Warning. These stories can have a serious effect on one's sleeping patrerns. Anyway, orf to listen to another jolly, riveting episode, what! 😂
I really enjoy the Paul Temple Series. Thank you.
A good series, better than watching T.V
Sit and watch TV, I prefer audio, also. I have a baby monitor so I can carry these programs wherever I am working I haven't had a TV since I came onto the internet in 1997
Thank you!
I don’t see how these characters solve anything - they drink an awful lot! 😂
I know, I would be sleeping all the time!
Because they drink, they are able to solve the murders😂
🤣😂
Drinking was widely regarded as an essential life skill and a pleasant social lubricant until it became a mental illness in the 1990s.
Nero Wolfe liked his beer, and Maigret used to drink on the job and offered suspects a drink too! 😂
Does anyone know the name of the radio drama where Paul Temple first meets steve? Her brother is murdered and she asks Paul for help .I listened to it once but i can't find it again.

PAUL & STEVE
Thank you - someone should say it.
You've got to love anyone who has a wife called Steve... by Timothy 😂🤣. Thank you for posting 🙏
Why is Mrs Temple called Steve,? I actually love the name and think it suits her (Mrs Temple) character. It would be unfortunate though if the choice of a masculine name for Temples brave and headstrong character by the author was used to bolster, or give strength to the characters femininity. by giving her a common male title. Lets remember that attitudes towards women were very different not so long ago. 21 November 1918: the Parliament (Qualification of Women) Act 1918 was passed, allowing women to be elected to Parliament. 1928: Women in England, Wales and Scotland received the vote on the same terms as men (over the age of 21, without property requirements) as a result of the Representation of the People Act 1928. By Timothy how timed have changed! Ps. The closest example of another woman with a similar name is Stevie Nicks of Fleetwood Mac
These radio dramas are so of it's time, and the way they demonstrate the lack of regard for women and their lives is quite shocking.
I live in those days where the males were looked to, to carry the load while the females played the supportive role to the male so the male had an easier time 'to carry the load' Males were the protectors, once upon a time.
cheer up sweetheart !
