We took Emma Raducanu back to 12 months ago and showed her the first interview she did at her first ever WTA event in Nottingham.

Whoever thought thais reflection would be a good thing to do hit the jackpot. Rarely do we get to see such an introspective from top players like Emma. Just wonderful to witness and a great boost for young girls wanting to get into sport, especially tennis. Well done to the LTA for showcasing a special player who also is so relatable to the youth.
This is probably the most natural I’ve seen her in an interview. A great idea. Hope you do it again next year :-)

She's the one player who has made me realize that people can really just log onto the internet and be mean for no reason and some of these people given the opportunities she's had/has wouldn't achieve even half of what she has achieved, it really is infuriating to see. Regardless, she's still fairly new to the sport and I think she's done well for herself despite the physical hardships which comes with a lot of sports and she has a great mentality and plus she has her academics she's mentioned to fall back on. It's great to see and I just wish people would just be a little kinder in the world and on the internet moreso.
Well said. Many of the mean internet citizens are angry at themselves, for whatever the reasons are very frustrated with their own life that is under achieving, they channel their frustration to someone they don't even know but is successful and make themselves look so bad.
She's almost too charming to exist! :). And that response to her own comments from a year before, that was just priceless. It's just so funny looking back over one's life, how much you can be embarrassed by yourself SO EASILY -- when you're so young. Every few days almost seems like you're a whole new person1 :)

Ok but when is she gonna win more tennis matches? it's almost a year since the glory of winning the US Open and she's won sweet f.a. since!!
That’s not accurate tho is it? She’s won matches, but also lost a lot too, and hasn’t gone deep into any tournaments. She’s still only been on the WTA tour for 16 months so is still extremely new to the business!
But she's never got past the 1st / 2nd rounds; has had minor injuries and is now out in Flushing Meadows in R1.

Can anyone help me out. I thought to be a grand slam winner you had to win ALL FOUR grand slam tournaments 'Australian open, French open, Wimbledon AND US open". If you WIN ONE LIKE EMMA, SURELY you're a grand slam tournament winner OR said tournament winner NOT a grand slam winner like the MSM is calling Emma raducanu.
Slams used to be called 'majors' but then the media started calling them 'slams' or even 'grand slams', which is a bit confusing... winning all 4 is now called the 'calendar slam' or 'career slam'.
I think you’re confusing “The Grand Slam” and singular “Grand Slam”.
Nice try, but she did indeed win the whole tournament.
She won the whole tournament (US Open 2021) which indeed makes her a "Grand Slam winner" one time so far, but still a winner
