  • Looked like your ball hitch wasn't fully seated into the coupler, be careful to check that before pulling and spray White Lithium grease or WD40 in the coupler to make sure the catches move properly. Also with the safety chains ⛓️, cross them in a "X" (right side chain hooked on left catch, left on right) under the coupler so that if the trailer comes loose from the ball hitch the chains act as a cradle to help catch the coupler, keep it from slamming into the pavement and limits how much it can move side to side so it doesn't turn sideways and flip. If the chains hang very low give them a few twists so they not only shorten up and don't drag the ground but if the trailer comes loose it keeps it from swaying back and forth as much as you slow to a stop. Just leave enough slack so they don't get bound up in a tight turn maneuver. If it ever does comes loose DON'T hit the brakes hard!! Just slow to a stop a little at a time or it's going to slam your car and cause some bad damage. A lot of couplers have a loop or bent metal skid plate on the bottom so it can slide along the road until you stop without digging into the pavement, if yours doesn't I would recommend either replacing it with one that does or having someone weld one on. Nice little trailer you found! I would add a mosquitoe net behind the shelf so as you're cooking the bugs don't go inside to the lights. If you add a sink and water tank, put the tank under the trailer in front of the axles so the weight stays centered and doesn't cause the trailer to weave back and forth.

    • I'd always opt for lithium grease on a tow hitch. WD40 is great for immediate release/lubrication; but, it evaporates to nothing really quickly.

  • The rear kitchen is pretty cool. I think I'd put some kind of retractable screen and/or curtain between the kitchen and the sleeping area. I also think two doors on the rear would be better than one big door. For coffee, I'd probably get a French press or moka pot, so you can just make coffee with the stove.

  • When backing a trailer, turn the steering wheel towards the problem. For example, If the trailer is going towards the passenger side, turn the steering wheel towards the passenger side. Remember this and you will master backing trailers. Note: The shorter the trailer the faster the trailer will get out of alignment with the car/truck. Back slowly.

Both of those are probably around the same weight, but both would allow you to stand and have much newer components. I loved my 1987 Coleman Columbia tent trailer that is about the same footprint as your trailer, maybe wider, but opens up so nice for summer camping!

    @marlenen6130@marlenen61303 ай бұрын
    • I don't think I'd feel safe in one of those campers that are solid on the bottom but tent on top. Someone could literally stab you in your sleep, right through the tent material. I know that the chances of that aren't high but I'm paranoid. Lol I just don't like the safety aspect, it doesn't seem so safe. Maybe if I were to see one up close or go in one, I'd think completely different, actually I know I would.

  • Trailing pro tip #1. Drive with at least one extra tire mounted on a wheel (sucks waiting 2 hours for AAA to show and on that note...) #1a. Get AAA rv & trailer coverage (really sucks waiting another two hours for AAA to return with a mounted trailer tire) #2. Watch your speed! Nothing worse that trailer sway over 65 mph. Learned all of the above the hard way, haha, and I like you both too much for it to happen to you.
