Apart from the fact Messi is the best ever (IMO) the debate v Ronaldo is mute for me. It is not about numbers or throphies. It is about how it makes you feel. Watching Messi is a joy. Im a Real Madrid fan to the bone. I started watching Madrid in the late 80s when my brother told me Hugo Sanchez is Mexican and he plays for Madrid and hes the greatest in Europe. I did not know what that meant really i was too young to even understand the rules of soccer or even what the difference was between Europe or any other continent. But I kept watching and being a Madrid fan. Back in the 90s it was hard to follow Madrid game to game cause technology was so small. But I remember seeing BamBam Zamorano and than Beckham and Zidane and Brazilian Ronaldo. It was that like joy inside like "wow wow! How did he do that!" Forward a bit and comes Ronaldo CR7 and I must admit he never gave that feeling. What he did do is give me security. It was that idea that this guy did not play beautiful in my opinion but he made me feel secure that if you live him he can overturn a game in a split second. And that was a joy to see that it was the whole team overturning and getting confidence to win just cause he is a leader. But, Messi I believe has that ''wth! How did he do that!" Joy that soccer fans like to feel cause lets be grown ups and its true, he has the "it" and in that idea I do feel jealous cause I have felt that before from Brazilian Ronaldo specially, and I do hope that soon Madrid can get that. I think Messi is the last of that breed of that type of player.

I have played football all my life since i was 5... Ive played u15 and u16 Olympic team 3 years straight, and for my club. With the experience of a striker/r-wing thinking it from a first person view on the pitch im amazed at the way Messi shields the ball protects it while he maneuvers around players as he is dribbling of course everyone learns the basics but to do it against 3-4 players is unnnnnheeeeeaaard of, it is truly an art form. Ive never seen such a craft that is so finely tuned its jaw dropping, his first touch , his control, his peripheral vision , his surgical placement of passing and finishing is unlike I have ever seen... Ive watched him since his u20 world cup days and hes getting better with age. True Beast of a player. They say he is 5'7 but he is actually 5'5.6 he gets hacked doesn't go down he is truly in my honest opinion miles ahead of anyone that plays the game today. They say there is no substitute for speed...I lost speed by a yard at age 26... too many ankle and knee injuries by then. Hes still proving Hes staying at the same level with better vision. 😎
Elwood 11 I have also played at that level 16-19..but in the early 90s...I say this because it's hard for anyone to truly understand the talent being displayed by Messi in all facets of the game...he makes it look so easy!! His touch on the ball in tight spaces is remarkable and unmatched IMO Cheers!

Everyone at school used tease me saying I'm a nerd and my idol will never make it. Now I look back with a smile that my Hero is crowned greatest of all time and that the debate is over. Don't get me wrong I love his goals with Barcelona they are always amazing and very passionate when it comes to very important games (Which was all of them this season) but when he scores with Argentina it's where you feel the passion for his goals, the intensity that drove him to scoring that goal, you feel all of it......
