The slash is horrendous but what makes it even worse is that he isn't even the player engaged in the play. Theodore is defending. I get the frustration as he kept on getting rocked but stand up for yourself and throw the gloves down.... Funny that he had no problems trying to fight when he saw McDavid was coming after him. Absolutely classless play.

If Pietrangelo is feeling mad and violent, he could/would just have gone after Draisaitl and punched him in the face or cross-checked him like you see all the time*. He did a full overhead chop from 6 feet away. People sometimes disagree when you say that a hit has nothing to do with hockey, but I think everyone will agree on this one. *obviously, those things are still illegal and should be punished...but this slash is on a different level.

Okay maybe a guy punched or cross checked or tripped a player in to the boards all that’s pretty bad but this is way overboard using the stick as a weapon is not hockey. And I’ve seen all the BS crap players do like Marchand spearing guys that’s not good either but this was something else every player knows you don’t do this. NHL sticks are roughly 6 feet long and he had his stick way up over his head and came down hard on Leon’s hands could have broken something. This was way overboard and unnecessary.

There were lots of hard plays throughout the game, from BOTH sides. Elbows, crosschecks, hard checks into the boards. Some of them warranted penalties that were not called, that is hockey (it is a whole other debate on if refs favor one team or another). Other plays like Kanes Crosscheck to the neck in Game 3 and Pierangelo's slash on Draisaitl have no place in hockey. The league needs to start being harder on those types of actions and send a message it will not be tolerated. No one wants to see players get badly hurt due to stupid choices.

How about Yamamoto's repeated backcheck at Mark Stone knocking him into the goal post in 1st period? Lots of intent there on a player with 2 back surgeries in 9 months - no call. How about 3rd period boarding hit on Pietrangello that wasn't called either? That's OK? Nurse's direct elbow to Hague's face that caused Hague to drop the gloves in response? Won't even go into Kane's repeated antics with any team he's with. All of those were intent to injure but it's OK to ignore those because that's your team that did it? It is about taking the entire series and missed calls on big things. If the league doesn't want this crap happening, if the teams don't want retaliatory responses, they need to call the big stuff and not let it boil over.

@@rthack2 A lot of people tend to see the events with a biased view towards their team, it is just natural we all do it. There are lots of crosschecks, borderline boarding, slashing, etc going both ways. Most of the hits on Pietrangello were clean hits and making him pay for touching the puck. Were there a couple that were boarding too, yes, but Vegas did that too during the game, it goes both ways. Refs just let it all go. I realized it all added up but It does not excuse the slash (I also do not excuse Kane for the crosscheck in game 3) Crosschecks on Stone. I don't like to see it either but any player parked in front of the net is going to get hit When Hymen gets crosschecked like that it is ok because he has not had a back injury? Someone in front of your net is going to get cleared out, you are not going to check their medical records before you hit them, you may not even know who it is other than an opponent. It all falls to the refs and how they manage the game and what they call. If they let them get away with it players will take advantage, good or bad. It is hard for the refs and league as people want the teams to decide but scream with they let a penalty slide because it was against their team. It is a no win situation for the refs and they do not have the luxury of a birds eye view of the ice and slow motion replay. I would not want their job. But I agree, they need to call the big stuff at the very least and set a tone for the game. It all gets in trouble when they are inconstant, sometime even from period to period, never mind game to game.

It's as bad or worse than Bunting's elbow on Cernak. People are talking about Nurse and Pietrangelo may "cancel each other out" and the league may choose not to suspend either. What happens in boxing, Bellator, K1, UFC, etc. would all be felonies outside their arenas too too but like hockey, they are sanctioned sports. What Kane did with his stick to Pietrangello at end of last game was to his face. Literally charged at him. He got a whopping 2 minute minor. Did you call for a lifetime suspension there? He and Nurse are known in the league for this garbage so why aren't they banned? Pietrangello is not one of them nor does he have a history with this. Do you know how many players would be out if we applied your rules? There is a process and he'll have to deal with that.

Pieterangelo deserves a suspension...Kane deserves a suspension for the cross check to the jaw earlier. The difference was that at least Kane's was when there was a puck in the postal code even if it was dirty...Draisaitl was literally 60 feet away from the puck when the hatchet came down.

Ok then, let's apply your reasoning and tilt to the rules for this situation. Kane should have been sitting in jail after game two because he charged Pietrangello to crosscheck him in the face AFTER the whistle was blown which would have been a "goddamn aggravated assault with a weapon." Since he would have been in jail having been charged with said aggravated assault, he would not have been playing yesterday.

The play was over, long over. Once the play is whistled dead, things change. New rules apply. And then the slashing the guy did was a clear intent to injure. Doesn't matter a hoot if it was born of frustration, pay back or whatever. A three game suspension should be automatic.

It seems like every single game in these playoffs has an event that should be suspended. Nothing to do with hockey, violent, possible intent to injure, and almost none of it gets punished. This garbage needs to be out of the game. This has nothing to do with physicality or hitting. It's just a guy trying to injure an opposing teams star player... hey if there's no punishment it makes your path to the cup much easier and these guys can certainly say the reward outweighs the risk right now. Garbage. The NHL in general is the worst led major sport in professional sports. It's such a shame because hockey is such a great game but all of these clowns need to go. I’m probably wasting my time by typing this out since you can’t compare two incidents on your own with your below room temp iq, but here we go. 1. There was no intent to injure with the Kane cross check. The stick rode up high at the last second and caught Petro in the face which obviously warrants a penalty. Petro on the other hand, raises his stick vertically above his head and takes a two handed chop on a players arm. Clearly intent to injure. 2. When Kane goes to rough up Petro, Petro has the puck and plays the puck about a second before Kane makes contact. Petro on the other hand, skates across the ice to a player he isn’t even defending and tries to injure him around 3 seconds after the puck is played and the puck is halfway across the ice. I can’t even believe how braindead you Golden Showers fans are.

If Pietrangelo is feeling mad and violent, he could/would just have gone after Draisaitl and punched him in the face or cross-checked him like you see all the time*. He did a full overhead chop from 6 feet away. People sometimes disagree when you say that a hit has nothing to do with hockey, but I think everyone will agree on this one. *obviously, those things are still illegal and should be punished...but this slash is on a different level.

There were lots of hard plays throughout the game, from BOTH sides. Elbows, crosschecks, hard checks into the boards. Some of them warranted penalties that were not called, that is hockey (it is a whole other debate on if refs favor one team or another). Other plays like Kanes Crosscheck to the neck in Game 3 and Pierangelo's slash on Draisaitl have no place in hockey. The league needs to start being harder on those types of actions and send a message it will not be tolerated. No one wants to see players get badly hurt due to stupid choices.

How about Yamamoto's repeated backcheck at Mark Stone knocking him into the goal post in 1st period? Lots of intent there on a player with 2 back surgeries in 9 months - no call. How about 3rd period boarding hit on Pietrangello that wasn't called either? That's OK? Nurse's direct elbow to Hague's face that caused Hague to drop the gloves in response? It is about taking the entire series and missed calls on big things. @@rthack2 A lot of people tend to see the events with a biased view towards their team, it is just natural we all do it. There are lots of crosschecks, borderline boarding, slashing, etc going both ways. Most of the hits on Pietrangello were clean hits and making him pay for touching the puck. Were there a couple that were boarding too, yes, but Vegas did that too during the game, it goes both ways. Refs just let it all go. I realized it all added up but It does not excuse the slash (I also do not excuse Kane for the crosscheck in game 3) Crosschecks on Stone. I don't like to see it either but any player parked in front of the net is going to get hit When Hymen gets crosschecked like that it is ok because he has not had a back injury? Someone in front of your net is going to get cleared out, you are not going to check their medical records before you hit them, you may not even know who it is other than an opponent. It all falls to the refs and how they manage the game and what they call. If they let them get away with it players will take advantage, good or bad. It is hard for the refs and league as people want the teams to decide but scream with they let a penalty slide because it was against their team. It is a no win situation for the refs and they do not have the luxury of a birds eye view of the ice and slow motion replay. I would not want their job. But I agree, they need to call the big stuff at the very least and set a tone for the game. It all gets in trouble when they are inconstant, sometime even from period to period, never mind game to game.

Kane should have been sitting in jail after game two because he charged Pietrangello to crosscheck him in the face AFTER the whistle was blown which would have been a "goddamn aggravated assault with a weapon." Since he would have been in jail having been charged with said aggravated assault, he would not have been playing yesterday.

@@NachoOG yup. waste of time. your interpritation of what happened is obviously biased based on your clasifications of the incidents. 1a. on kanes penalty, it didnt "ride up high". kane was crouched after striding 5 or 6 times and then actually stood up so that he could hit piets head and becase it was after the whistle and half the oilers were already heading down the tunnel, piet didnt even really defend himself. the crosscheck was aimed and hit directly to piets head. best argument you have is "it rode up" piets neck (which isnt any consolation). you see.. what you did is you decided there was no intent to injure and then you justified it. i wouldnt even know where to start trying to defend kanes action. 1b. piets slashing was really bad. drai is probably going to have a pretty good bruise on his arm. if i had to try to defend it, the best i could do is say the stick came down almost on drais chest, and since drai didnt see it coming, i imagine thats what piet was aiming for. dirty? yes. major penalty, sure. intent to injure? maybe. i'm not defending pietrangelo. i'm just pointing out to this mob that if you dont see the difference in the kane penalty in game 3 and piets in 4, you are obviously biased. 2. you are making your conculsions first and then justifying it after again... classifying kanes crosscheck to the head as "roughing up" is a bit funny. and piet's slash on drai is maybe 1.5 seconds after the whistle, at most (not 3 seconds like you claimed). late? definitely. so was kanes crosscheck. i understand youve been drinking koolaid, so i wont make any personal attacks towards you... watch both penalties again with an open mind and you'll maybe see it. it's first steps to getting that poison out of your system. or don't, i dont care.
